I went for an m340i and I regret nothing after watching this.
Definitely going for the M340i after watching this and reading all these reviews on the new gen CLA/A/C AMG’s.
“Now a Real AMG” implies that the old one wasn’t. The old one with the Bi-Turbo V6 had much more character.
V6 had less tuning potential and was thirsty af. Sounded nice, thats it. This 4-pot feels like a powerful NA

@@patucca6399 The Bi-Turbo V6 will inherently have more tuning capabilities than this maxed out 4 Cylinder because this is about the max they can pull out of it. Also, if you think this highly stressed 4 Cylinder will exhibit any better gas mileage, you’re wrong. The BMW M340i with the B58 gets much, MUCH better rated gas mileage than this, despite having two extra cylinders and a similar horsepower number. Mercedes dropped this ball on this and especially on the 63.

doesnt sound like a 4 cylinder though lol, and you get better gas mileage so who cares? performs better then the previous slower V6...and again its not even the 63 varient so why complain. Merc is confirmed to bring back the V8 for the 2026 model year of the C63 as well.

I had the new C300 and upgraded to this one about 3 weeks ago. Have experienced zero issues. This review was spot on: A bit rough around town at low speed but the driving dynamics at speed scream AMG. Top that with the best interior tech and finish. It's a winner!
Quick question how does it do high end speed ? Is it quick or does it climb slow
@@eljunior-mm3tu Honestly I have only been up about 100, but once you are in the upper revs the shifts snap quite fast. I did see a RUclips of a guy on the Autobahn going up to the 165 limit though.
Too many issues I’m reading about, was in the market for the CLA but going to steer clear of Mercedes at this point. Best of luck.

The stop start should be more bearable in efficiency mode where the coasting starts after you lift off the throttle and continues while you slow down for the stop

I personally believe that companies should stop manufacturing non-functional venting on the front, just seems weird to me
This has nothing to do with ventilation, these are just design elements. If they were just flat, it would look even weirder.

@jameswilkins462 ehh not really. this is a brand new car, not handed down from 3 other people who abused it and now it has 50-60k miles, out of warranty with discounted tires from a dealership. Some people like the idea of getting a brand new car from AMG with new technology. Its more than just having speed for others.

@@Leszlig the car was very quiet which is a good thing and a bad thing. Good on highway, but when it came time to really enjoy the car the synthesized 4 cylinder sound just was not good. It actually caused the speakers to start rattling.

How was the build quality in your opinion?
I’ve had A lot of problems with my gla35 amg less then 10k miles it was overheating
I like the older design with the sharper more aggressive lines. This curvaceous stuff is too low-key. Hence, the reason why BMW is appealing a bit more to the masses! Aggressive and unique design language along with superior performance. This sedan just looks like your girlfriend got back from the nail salon, not you getting back from the track.
As an owner of this car, this is one of the most accurate and informative reviews out there.

76k is crazy for a AMG 43 C class, I’m also disappointed in the fact it’s a 4 cylinder, I wish they went with an Inline 6 for the C-AMGs. This 43s closest competitor is the M340i, and that car has the B58 engine and it’s a lot less expensive than this.
@@ZoomZoom356 the biggest downside of M340i is they removed rear heated seats and front vented seats. They are available on the older 3 series.
I think a lot of the younger crowd is discounting the C43 because it has a 4 cylinder so it was dead to many people even before it was even released, but from the reviews it does seem like a very capable car. One thing that worries me however is how many reviewers have talked about how the C43 drives at lower speeds. Almost everyone has mentioned that this car doesn't perform that well during city-driving. I think this car really shines in the highway and at higher speeds, but that's possibly a small percentage of where people are driving their car on a daily basis. For that reason I think you almost have to consider other competitors like a BMW M340i or an Audi S4 in your decision, that are better suited for city-driving.

That's because Mercedes gets their 4 cyl from Renault (aka Nissan). However idk if that applies to AMG series too.

bit weak in terms of performance for 76k, the ct4v blackwing has more hp and i think is the same price or less, i think youre paying for the tech mainly cause the merc is amazing at that
C class is twice the car the CT4 is though. It's not just about how much hp they have.

The performance gap between the C43 and M340i is not that big (less than 1 second at Hockenheim) and in real world driving you probably wouldn't even notice it. The sound from the B58 is nice tho, but not enough to persuade me to forgo the Merc's looks and the AMG heritage.

In general, I don’t hate the 4 cylinder, because there are good cars with 4 cylinder: the civic type r, golf r and bmw b48. Those all proved 4 cylinder can be fun and making decent power and sound.
But this one, really doesn’t sound very well, and the mpg is really bad compared to b58. Wondering if there will be any aftermarket solution to the sound.

I'm impressed that some 4-Cylinders with some Hybrid systems can be more powerful than a 6 or 8-Cylinder engine... just impressive how the tecnology went that far.

It's not impressive , really you can make a 4 cyl have any hp you want easily just adding on electric motors , a Model S plaid had more power than any Mercedes and it doesn't even have a engine
@@VaunShiz That's the thing. C43 is just a mild hybrid that has a 10kw electric motor. Rest of it is from that tiny, road legal and somehow emissions compliant 2.0 I4. Plus, your comparison is apples to oranges. Also, it's easier to plonk in as many giant electric motors into a car can fit than engineer a suitable massively powerful engine for it, which is why we see a surplus of obscenely overpowered EV's recently. I'm not a fan of the 2000hp cars but I still appreciate the engineering.

I've got the same car, 2000 cc 4WD turbo-diesel (please don't laugh), bought in 2022. Comparing the 2 Mercedes, my car has exactly half the horsepower, I drive it with a lot of confidence and mastery, with the 'sport' engine/suspension/gearbox setting... I always wonder if I would be able to handle a car with 400 horsepower...Probably yes, but for sure not using all its enormous power and, to be more relaxed and focused, I would have to try a 'monster-car' like the C43 on a track, without traffic and without the fear of creating fatal accidents. Am I wrong?

I am a die hard Audi fan. I went with the AMG. The S4 been the same forever now. This interior is unbeatable, sounds great, and it has more power. Worth the extra money imo
Too many issues with the newer gen mercs. As an Audi fan wanting something different, check out the B58 M340i. Bland interior but you can’t beat that 3.5s 0-60 for the price. Paired with the bullet proof hard r&d B58 engine, can’t go wrong.
@@Kasejeb I’m coming from a 2019 Volvo S60, so any of these cars would feel like a step up in terms of performance. I love the standard Nappa leather of the Audi and how the overall interior feels as well as the “sleeper” look of the car. I still haven’t been able to drive an M340i here in South FL. The lease quotes, even from Lease Hackr, are atrocious rn. There’s a $100ish/month or higher difference between a loaded Premium Plus S4 and the M340i. But man, when optioned, the technology in the M340i seems to be really good!
@@rickzagor I’ve always wanted a Benz, but the price difference on the lease sheet is looking atrocious rn. I’ve never had any German car- Benz, BMW or Audi. This would be my first. I’m also second guessing if I will regret how “last gen” the S4s interior is, despite the physical HVAC knobs which I like, etc. it would be OK if they just integrated that touch screen better. It didn’t bother me on the test drive I did, but who knows if that would change on a day-to-day basis. I’m looking at a fully loaded Premium Plus, which has a lot but it’s not the Prestige with the HUD, Ambient Lighting etc. If everything was equal, I’d be in an M340i already. I do love how understated the Audi looks (I work in finance so I don’t want clients to have the “wrong impression”), the virtual cockpit, and standard Nappa seats (I’d get them in red). I haven’t driven an M340i yet but did drive an i4 M50 at an electric car event- thought I’d hate the wide screen set ups that BMW have now but surprisingly don’t.
M440i is just stunning and practical. Definitely test drive it. It costs more than M340i though.
Imo BMW is way ahead currently.
I’d take the naturally aspirated V8 from Lexus , though it’s the smallest car with the smallest back seat and trunk. The emotional choices would be BMW and C43 ..

you compare it wrong. compare it with the aequivalent -> m340/m440
and i would take the BMW. i like the car but they all look the same and its too subtile until you read "AMG"

a45s rated at 421 hp, however it dynos 380hp irl. This car rated at sub 410 hp, actual hp is about 370hp. It sounds like a 4 cylinder, drives like a 4 cylinder, and its the most expensive one in its class. I don't see any reason not to get a m340 or Audi s4

Uh… the way the interior looks? M340i is just boring. This looks nice at night sure its cheap plastic in more than its competitors but it looks 100x better. Atleast imo thats why people have always gotten mercedes because of the interior

Somebody explain to me why auto manufacturers use piano black plastic so much?? Esp. the German companies. Reviewers seem to universally hate it, and I think I would too. (I drive a Mazda that has a plastic console, but at least it does not show smudges/scratches, and now Mazda has really up-scaled their interiors).
Does it really cost that much more to use aluminum, wood, or at least some kind of plastic that doesn't smudge/scratch? I mean the price tags are already way up there...at little class should be included.

Mercedes lost the plot with this line. Soo many people (myself included) who were AMG enthusiasts are going over the BMW M. The M3 wait list is 1-2 years long!!

You might of wanted to check the air pressure of the tires. Car is very sensitive to tire pressure with the Michelin PS4. Also with launch control tap the right paddle once to bump RPM up when launching.
You mean while it’s launching, you tap the right paddle to bump up the RPM?
Before you launch up the rpm with a tap of the right paddle. I believe it allows one bump up.@@TankeTrender
Cars nowadays feel like what Android or even Blackberry used to be back in late 2000s chasing after Apple. Most user interfaces feel very distant from where Tesla is. Eventually maybe we will end up with a similar situation, where there is a core manufacturer making software and the otherss customize it and license it. Apple actually put themselves in a position to do that, take over entire vehicles, and since its Apple, then Tesla WILL have actual competition -- but until then, its not even close.
The touch buttons and touchscreen climate controls are unacceptable and you should have called them out.
I personally love the new c class design but a bit upset about the 63 model

Yeah you’re not getting 4.1 out of a stock c43 v6 maybe 4.3 at the quickest best conditions you’ll need a downpipe and a mild tune for 4.0-4.1

Did it have a placard? Absolutely not. C43 is manufactured in Mexico and certainly never touched by an AMG Tech.
Think this is a better buy than the 63 ? Which is better from a maintenance standpoint.
Haven't driven the new 63, so I can't comment on that yet. If it's the "old" (V8) 63, I still prefer that car.

FYI, the caddy is.4 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile. C43=12.8, ct4v=12.4
