  • As a novice rider to the more powerful off-road scene, and intermediate rider to older single track trail bikes, this is an intro to my first impressions for this bike. I hope to have some more in depth reviews soon as I can put more time behind the bike. Thanks for watching!

    Was great meeting and riding with you. You should have mentioned the flimsy hand guards breaking off on both sides. 😃 Looking forward to our next ride together. Be safe out there.

      Absolutely! I actually made a recording of some of the accessories and I was going to put that up next, just haven't gotten around to it. I want to do another ride soon before it gets to cold out!

    Thanks you for the confidence boost man! I just got this bike and went on my first ride today and was so disappointed with the lack of power, then getting it into the garage I tripped on my trailer and fell over with the bike 😅 not the best first day but after watching these videos I’m definitely going to try these three mods tomorrow!

    • @elkwhisperer37
      @elkwhisperer37  2 года назад +1

      After those mods, make sure you get yourself the wifi tuner. I got it and programmed in a smoother tune than factory so it’s not so jumpy off the bottom of 1st. I also installed a Rekluse Radius CX clutch just last week. This bike easily pulls up in a wheelie from 2nd or 3rd. Definitely a lot more power now, plus that wide ratio is extremely helpful on single track to allow you to not have to switch gear as often and still pull through on some nasty climbs or real technical situations.

    Seriously considering one after just riding a 2021 model. It was bone stock (even throttle restrictions), but there were no disappointments on the trail. Went from high speed washes to “semi-technical” rocky single track and it did well everywhere. I like the 250fx as well but this seems better for trail riding.

    Mine arrived on Tuesday. It is uncorked, and I have added wraparound hand guards, tyre mousses and a fender tool bag. In the UK we can road register them so I now need to tax and insure it before I can run it ina bit and begin to enjoy it. I have also added white overlays on the number boards to lighten it up a bit.

    • @elkwhisperer37
      @elkwhisperer37  2 года назад +1

      Very nice! I too added bark busters as well, and I ordered a number kit off of RockyMountainATV. I've got it registered, but I don't plan on riding too much for roads except jumping from one trail to the next. Been trying to find the time to create a video for the accessories and the first oil change that I did for it.

      I do want to do some different bottom end tuning though, but that’s not due to the uncorking. The wifi tuners are all backordered and no expected ship date. I’ve had one on order for 2 months from my local dealer.

    Nice bike 😎👍🏻
    I have the 2021 WR250F and it definitely changed quite a bit after I uncorked it and the next biggest change was the addition of the GYTR Comp ECU with the Map switch. I have ordered the bluetooth comm unit from a dealership in Canada so I should be receiving it shortly. My next step will be to buy an exhaust for it to open it up a bit more, I just need to decide which one.

      @elkwhisperer37  2 года назад

      So I’ve got a buddy that he has the FMF Q4 on his ‘19 YZ250FX and from what I found it’s really a great all around in keeping the bike from being too loud but still giving performance. I personally think that once you do the custom mapping to your liking that you wouldn’t really see as much need to replace the stock exhaust (uncorked still though). For my own map adjustments when I get the wifi unit, my ‘22 feels like it needs more fuel in the bottom end and slightly more ignition in the top end. I may have to see about getting the wifi unit from up there too! Still no estimated stocking time from Yamaha direct to my local dealer.

      @@elkwhisperer37 I bought my unit at Blackfoot motorsports in Alberta Canada. I’m not sure if they have any more units available but I did pay $200 more than what it costs here in the United States. But since there’s no backorder date available for the US market I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet and spend the extra $200. I’m known to waste $200 on stupid stuff so I figured this won’t hurt as much. 🤪

    Im irritated that the '15s and up WR and FX have clutch drag from factory, why they start so hard in gear. My FX really pissed me off trying to manuever tight trails, turning it around ect or stalling in a tricky spot.

    Where do u get maps for the 2022

    • @elkwhisperer37
      @elkwhisperer37  2 года назад

      You have to have the Wifi Tuner, and then you would use your phone to either choose from the factory available maps, or build your own custom maps. You can search forums for maps other guys have tried. There isn't a single map repository, but most people I've seen have put maps for all the Yamaha series in comments on forum topics.

    Do I need the competition ecu to uncork it?

    • @elkwhisperer37
      @elkwhisperer37  2 года назад +2

      To my knowledge, you don’t need the comp ecu like the older models. This already has the same ECU as the 2021 YZ I believe, and once you can get your hands on the wifi tuner you can modify the mapping to your liking. I’m not having any issues with the base ECU after the uncork. I do want to make changes with the mapping but the wifi tuner is backordered.
