Santa dropped one off at my house , installed and working superbly. SWR barely moves needle. Using Times Microwave LMR 400 coax, grounded antenna mount on house, up about 25ft .Thanks for the video that helped make a great decision.

@KoVurt OK, this test will be done ......But not this side of next spring ,we have heavy snow up in the North now. Thanks for your input, not sure of your name but 73's and thanks for sharing your findings on my video..........73's Dave M0OGY

@128mark Thank you for the very kind comments Mark. Yes it took most of my weekend including installing the antenna in heavy rain to do this review. But I do enjoy giving a little back to the hobby that has gave me a lot over the last 32 years. Yes the Gain Master is indeed the best current antenna available at the moment in the UK. I'm sure you'll find out when you get one. Keep in touch........Dave M0OGY.

I have had mine up for a week now. The SWR is very good from the end of 25 MHz, right up to 29 MHz. I found mine to be a little bit lower than the demonstration in this video, but I put that down to the factory tuning. I will shortly try and get the comparison with the Antron when I put it back up.

Terrific audio, Dave, nicely done Radiogate!!
I expect you'll be losing the Army Stick? Will you be leaving the SGM on the Tower?

  • @19GN03
    @19GN03 12 лет назад +2

If you want to compare the antennas you have tu use the same type cable, same position of the antennes etc otherwise its not representative measurement.
S all conditions have to be the same if you want to make a fair comparison

@KoVurt Also in the Spring time I will take the Shakesphere down and replace it with the Gain Master. This is my plan. I will be more than pleased to do a same day video with my reference stations with the different antennas on the same pole and coax ect. I've nothing to hide. I do think it a little rude to say our findings are void though. These are my findings and it works very well for me. Maybe for you and others it may not work as well, I know terrain ect ect, height play an important role.

@IFIXCASTLES Yes that's one of its good points been decoupled and having a built in RF choke it has little if any stray RF kicking about.

@MrBOB39 I had an I-10k along with an imax maco v5/8 and an old Penetrator. The Gainmaster outperforms them all, especially at distance and acts like a beam the toa is so low, especially into Europe. I've run a Texas Star 500 into it for a tear without a hitch, and it's the quietest so far.

Great informative video Dave and glad i was able to take part in the test of two great antennas. I was very surprised at the outcome and will be putting the gain master on my list for next summer!!!!
Keep up the good work and catch you on wednesday.

Hi Dave! How would the Gainmaster do in Canadian winters? Can it stand up to
    VERY strong winds, nasty snow
    storms AND freezing rain?!
These are points that we here in
    "The Great White North" must
    absolutely consider!!
73s & respect, Norman in Montreal

I've got a Solorcon a99 it has so far survived 2 ice storms and numerous wind storms one of which had 50 mph sustained winds. It is replacing a 5/8 wave big stick which I took down for repair.Im impressed with the a99 performance. Here in Ontario our weather is much the same as yours.73s

@PennG0VQY A wise purchase Penn. I would say ,just take your time and be careful tightening the clamps on the fibreglass poles ,then to add waterproofing and a little strength some self amalgermating tape on all joints. The enjoy the big signals Mate.......73's Dave

Wont last as long as the Bigstick. Ive had two GM snap as i live by the sea on the East Coast. Went back to my Imax. P.s. There will be some loss to the antenna furthest away due to the longer run of Coax. I personally would have stuck to the Bigstick as they are great in the wind. I used to have a Bigstick until my father damaged it by mistake during a house move.

@tangomikeonefivezero Matt, I'm sure the Gainmaster will out perform the 827 by a decent margin, I had one years ago , and the Shaky puts a bigger signal out to what it did (for me anyway). I realy haven't the time or indeed money to buy every antenna and compare them against it. It realy is now up to you guys to spend your money and try the Gain Master. A wise move I think. I can't tell you how it will last in the sky......that's down to time I guess.........thanks for you input Mate, Dave

    However..
I also have the I-10K at a height of 62 ft ( at its base )..
to the west and east of 3/8 mile it easily sees 2 rivers..
to the south 2 miles is where those 2 rivers converge ..
( so these Large Bodies of water on 3 sides for sure aid my getting out Extremely well )..
Yet besides the I-10K i also use LDF5-50a Feedline/coax to as best possible minimize any loss on reception and gain (ever so slightly perhaps) power available to transmit..
Yet also subject to Extreme Weather Yr round..

I'll be waiting to hear the results with the gainmaster on the same pole and location, I've done it today and my findings were that basically the same as the 827 albiet the gainmaster did produce 1/2 S point on receive.

Gainmaster is 1/2 s piont better in you recieve then the shakespare..
Only the swr is higher at 28 Mhz so the ant is a little to long (1,5 cm)
When you get the shakespare a little shorter then the swr is a little better
and you win prob 1 s point more at 28 Mhz

  • @m0ogy
    @m0ogy  13 лет назад

@Delivered0ne If I can get away with it I'll leave both up. If not the Shakesphere will be put back in its original packaging tube in storage. Thaqnks for the flowers

  • @MrBOB39
    @MrBOB39 12 лет назад

I used to have a Big Stick..and a A99...and did do very well with those with less then RG 213 coax..
but no other antenna has been able to sustain exposure to Extreme weather and also Out perform likely any other 11 meter Vertical antenna..
So are there or could there be possibly a Vertical 11 antenna that " Might " be able to out perform the I-10K..
Although technically possibly possible..It is Extremely Un likely indeed..
a Opinion by many over the years & Not Just from me..
    is all good Tho

Since your test was void due to the antenna being at a different location I don't see how you can call this a proper test.
As I did, same exact spot and same height.

I doubt it would out perform the I-10K..
Yes though..i Stand by the statement of Destroying it..
    In that..
It is Far Stronger and longer lasting then any other Vertical..
I have heard others claim it works well ( i am not disputing that )
I can not see it outperforming the I-10K however..
I have spoken the world over NEVER using a amp or linear to aid or further propel the signal of either my 706 MKIIG or IC-7000..
About the only places i have not been able to contact is North or South poles.

    • @4444panther

Maybe Half an S point locally isn't much but over a 1000 miles makes a lot of difference on dx.. it's like an aeroplanes trajectory.. if the flight is 1° out who knows where you will end up.

Against my SIRIO 827 which we had a signal check of 7.5 down into penzance, we then took the 827 down and put the GAINMASTER in exactly the same spot.
    an awesome test.
rechecked and the signal was exactly the same down into penzance, we did notice 1/2 an S point better on receive but that was it.
