@adownbeatexegete1549 I've had Solemn Tones products in the past and don't really like them. They are also very taxing on my old hardware. I LOVE the company and the owner. If I had the power and some more disposable income, I'd absolutely give it a try myself :)
@samuelbeltrami5647 I normally roughly play the riff on guitar to get an idea of how it works, and then I'll just use the key switches accordingly. I make note of subtle things like slides or slightly bending pitches if it would be hard to cleanly hit a note. If I don't know how to play something, I just watch guitar playthroughs of songs that utilize techniques I am trying to mimic or just download the actual tabs to see what it looks like.

Shreddage 3 Hydra for the guitar. I'm sure there are plenty of free bass guitar sims out there, but I'm not familiar with them.
