I know that it's completely different music style but puffed cheeks are very very common in eastern Europe/balkans and turkey. And guess what, the best clarinet players come from there

Thank you for saying that the clarinet is a jazz instrument. It is genuinely surprising how many people, even many band directors don't know that the clarinet was the original first reeded instrument in jazz bands.
@@kylesparks1826 no it wasnt. Jazz wasnt even invented when clarinet was used for that purpose. It was used for classical coming from the chalameu in the 1700s. Jazz wasnt popular with clarinet until the 1920s and 30s

@edwardholder429 yeah your right about it being made way before jazz, I was tripping. It was heavily used in jazz early on though, and in my opinion, the oboe sounds a lot nicer and is a better concert instrument.
Thank you for this. I was looking for a direct sound comparison between the two. I like Clarinet more for my taste. But can definitely see why someone would pick Oboe as their main instrument.

Clarinet is still a concert instrument. Only the open g and a above it are that out of tune and you can mask it, meanwhile all saxs DO NOT BELONG IN A CONCERT SETTING
Bizet used saxophones in his operas, the main reason why saxophones were not welcomed into the pantheon of orchestral instrumens is because they were invented too late

Izusho & other Japanese schools march double-reeds though.

Forced to plat trumpet for marching. I feel you on every level.

I have to march clarinet too😢
