Good memories. The whole scene exploded on the back of Quadrophenia. Skinhead Suedhead Rudeboy Hand in hand with Mod.
The unity the Soecials akin with 2tone alongside Bad Manners and Madness will never be repeated. Allegiance is hard to come by now. One hit wonder throw away bands just come and go. The SPECIALS in a nutshell are living legends
Had the pleasure of meeting Paul A.K.A Willo on a few occasions ,And spoke to him on the phone many times,Having had a very similar experience of two tone and the whole Ska scene of the late 70s early 80s right up to the present day ,this man is on my level in as far as we share the same feelings for the music, its meanings and the whole fashion (hate to use that word) that goes with it,only Paul has a knowledge that is simply unrivaled by few if any..But unlike many other music scenes, the people within the world of Ska,always seem to me to be on the same level as the people who buy, listen and watch the bands live, almost like a Giant family. Maybe this is why it has remained so popular for so long,Ska"d for life....
Wondering Now was written and recorded by the great Jamaican duo 'Andy and Joey', Joey is the sister of Garth Dennis, former Wailing Souls and Black Uhuru...
Top interview, I knew some of things he mentioned, and will have to get the book, as there so much I didn't know.
That was a great interview i enjoyed it :)

Terry Hall Was lead Singer
Electric
was he the singer
When they played in Boston, I can't remember a single person choosing fisticuffs over listening to The Specials. I just don't get that?
All that research and all he came up with is "too much work" being the reason they broke up? The Specials ran its course. All bands have a shelf life. They did what they set out to do and couldn't adapt or change so they broke up.
