I agree. These are definitely a no compromise set of full size binoculars. The thought to ergonimics and weight distribution do help quite a bit, however there is no way around the large footprint. Personally, I pair the Victory SF with the Swarovski CL B Companion 8x30. I use the Swaro Companions when I am traveling or out hiking. I would suggest taking a look at the Victory SF 8x32 for a bit smaller footprint with the same no compromise optical quality and ergonomics. The SF 8x32s weigh in at 21.2 oz / 600 g (SF 8x42s are 27.5 oz / 780 g). There will be some compromise in brightness and exit pupil with the 8x32s (but will have a better field of view).
@@freeforester1717 Not really. They are not better, then SF. Actually, on some points they are weaker. For example, on light protection, weight and kidney beaning.
I am in doubt. This very nice Victory SF 8x42 or Zeiss SFL 8x40? I use it also in low light conditions such as dawn. Wich one you prefer? Is there a big difference?
Victory SF 8x42 is optically superior to the Zeiss SFL 8x40. SFL wins on size and price (possibly slightly more neutral colors with the SFL as well). Low light the SF 8x42 will be better than the SFL 8x40 on both accounts of larger objective and better glass of the SF 8x42. If it were me I would take the SF 8x42 or 8x32 over the SFL 8x40 for superior optics. Then you never have to worry about having best optical quality
@@MediaPipeDream I tried SFL 8x40 a while ago and was very impressed. Just a question: have you experience about if SF 8x42 works as good with eyeglasses as SFL 8x40?
I have never compared these to the kowa genesis - I have read that the Kowa genesis control CA extremely well. Of interest to you may be my video regarding my journey though 12 different binoculars and how/why I ended up with the victory SF 8x42 and Swaro Companion CL B 8x30. Linked it below ruclips.net/video/-1p2rBuywMU/видео.html Thanks for watching
@@MediaPipeDreamI've seen people rate the kowa genesis 33mm higher than the cl. All round a great binocular, well made, wide fov, flourite glass to remove CA, they're great.
Yes these have a green tint, only noticeable sometimes, Otherwise colors are accurate. Only notice green on white backgrounds during overcast. Even then it is not bothersome to me.
Thanks for the detailed review, I really like these but I wish they were a bit smaller.

Try Zeiss SFL 8x40. Also very sharp, much more compact (and less expensive)
Don’t try Swarovski NL Pure, they’ll spoil you for everything else!

8x42 oder 10x42, was wäre besser für Vögel beobachten?

Do these look too green? Or are they accurate colours?
