Thanks to an observation from Leon Kelly, we now realize that we improperly explained the Sponsor Card rule in the video. In GKR: Heavy Hitters, you're supposed to draw one Sponsor Card per Building; not per Tag. Also, there are a few moments when someone draws one more card than they're supposed to. For these mistakes, we apologize.
New to your channel, but it immediately rose to the top of my "what to watch" list. Started with your Vampire the Masquerade: Heritage play through, and then jumped to this one (one of my favorite games). You guys have great personalities, you're super fun to watch, and we have so many of the same games. Cheers! Looking forward to more
Thanks so much! Ahh GKR: Heavy Hitters, a game I wish we had more time to play. We wanted to make a series of videos of GKR, but it never came together. It really is a lot of fun.
Gosh thank you for the kind words and for the sub 😄. It's always great to hear from a fellow RUclips tabletop gamer and see that they're doing well for themselves. Any tips for a kindred soul?
I LOL'd when the first two pilots chosen were Nix and Ike. Both have been chosen in every game my groups have played so far (along with Diego when there's more than two players). I'd like to try out every pilot before I repeat any, but my first two games were as Ike and Nix. Maybe it's just because they're easy to understand and not situational, but their energy-saving abilities seem to be a step above most of the other pilots' options. Diego's extra range and movement is a close second. P.S. - Noticed a couple rules things at the end. Green should have gotten an achievement (and the final upgrade) for scoring a flank shot, and the game doesn't end immediately as soon as a Heavy Hitter dies. The combat round is finished first, and then the game ends (i.e. remaining players can still shoot at each other to duke it out for first place, but there's no more tagging, so you can't win with a fourth building).
Yeah I definitely think that Nix, Ike, and Diego appeal the most to newer players, and you nailed the reason why. Their special abilities are really intuitive, requiring the least context to understand. And thanks for the observations, especially the endgame condition one. We tried our best to memorize the rules before recording, and that one seemed really straightforward, considering it reads, "The game will immediately end when any of the following conditions occur: DESTROY OPPONENT'S HEAVY HITTER!" We should've remembered the subtext below that, since it explains that you should finish up the combat round. We're lucky that mistake wouldn't have altered the end result (because of the big lead). We'll definitely do that right the next time. Thanks again!
Board Crazy my pleasure, thanks for the video. I should add that I've won games with pilots other than the aforementioned ones. The guy who lets you cycle cards when you take damage is deceptively good, but most players aren't going to see the potential boon of cycling through your deck faster when there's free actions to tempt them. While there are certain strategies that reward holding cards (like Diamondback's Coiled Strike), I think a big reason why I've won most of my GKR games so far is that I always try to draw as many cards as I can, even if it means burning a few by overspending.
The very first time we played, I used the pilot who allows you to draw new cards when taking damage, but then I forgot to use his ability half the time! Now that we've played a few times, I definitely see the value of shuffling through your cards as much as you can, especially if you end up with a hand full of secondaries. That's happened to me a lot and it sucks. Yeah, I think the next time we play, I might use one of the seemingly less attractive pilot options because as you said, they're deceptively good.
Glory Hound doesn't always move. It's given to the person who put out the most tags. TIES will result in moving to the next highest tagger player clockwise.
If I recall correctly, a recon drone was "spotting" that target, thus allowing the attack to hit. I may be referring to a different attack though - not sure.
Hey Leon, we really appreciate the heads up. When we practiced GKR, we followed the 'tag per building' rule, but then we forgot it the further we got into the recording. We try our hardest to properly follow the rules, so we'll leave a pinned comment pointing out our error. Again, thank you!
No worries guys keep up the videos, entertaining stuff! Great game GKR you should do a video next with all the expansions mixed in for the ultimate hapsi related mayhem.
Well it was a pretty pricey Kickstarter, so we don't blame you. It's always hard to pull the trigger when there are so many games to back. Right now, there are like ten games we want to invest in, so we feel your pain.

Great gameplay video! Hope you guys are doing well. Miss the channel!
Thanks! We're all doing well and miss making the videos, but life has pulled us in new directions.
Great video. I'm surprised that you don't have more subscribers. Well, you have at least one more, me. Good job.

I came for the game, I stayed for the Will...
👍 Ha I'll make sure D and Graham hear of this comment. Thanks for watching!
Excelent battle!

We debated over the interpretation of the Glory Hound rules, and it appears you're right. Thank you for the clarification.
First attack on the support. He wasn't in your firing arc. Couldn't shoot at him I believe

People from Ireland do watch.... Dublin to be exact. ps sponsor card per BUILDING tag not per tag.

Definitely. I think GKR is game we all want to return to at some point.
Also, King Making is strong with this one.
Yeah, or at least it is in a 3-player game. I think a 4th player would help mitigate the kingmaking a bit.
I am so bummed I back out of this Kickstarter at the last minute. Stupid voice of reason...
