    Good exporters are hard to come by, and trusted importers make this whole process seamless. I never thought I'd know half of this but here we are! What a wild ride.

    I’ve been told ISF usually only fines bigger companies vs individuals, but always good practice to do ahead of time.
    Also, good job mentioning Japanese mechanics. In most cases, paying a mechanic to install a part is cheaper than just shipping it to the US. Glass and engines/transmissions can be ROUGH to get shipped, too. These are just basic cars in Japan, but may as well be a Lotus once it arrives in the States.

      That's good to know about the fines but best to err on the side of caution.
      Maintenance is big. Nice to get a car that's ready to go if you don't want to fiddle it yourself.

    Always fun comparing strategies with what I do! It is such an addiction and with USS auctions no longer posting pics/info through the portals, it makes it even more of a scavenger hunt!

    • @AnythingWheeled
      @AnythingWheeled  5 месяцев назад

      Yea I forgot to mention that the USS auctions have changed to block access like this but you could still inquire to get the non pixelated bukkake photos and auction sheet.
      There was something else I remembered yesterday too but I don't remember it now 😆

      Two other things too. With Rodrigo I didn't have to pay until it was being booked for shipping most of the time. So between the auction win and shipping there's some time in between before having to pay up.
      Tax is imposed on your vehicle and any repairs (and a few other things) you declare on the invoice but not the freight.

    • @dreuxscorner
      @dreuxscorner 5 месяцев назад

      That’s a big savings as I typically pay 99% of the fees within days of winning the auction. Then the waiting game starts. It’s probably a good thing though since having $ tied up prevents me from buying more cars while I wait!

    • @AnythingWheeled
      @AnythingWheeled  5 месяцев назад

      Maybe that's why I bought so many. 😆

    I think my biggest issue on my end with that keeps me from wanting to learn a new skill and attempt at doing this is finding someone overseas like you have to take care of all the stuff on the Japan end. Doesn't seem there are people out there trust worthy advertising. Unless I'm looking in the wrong places

      You could just use my guy lol he works with a lot of people to get stuff. I believe I put his info in the description below.
      It's a fun adventure just to figure it out on its own. Having a little helping hand from someone that's done it before is handy though.

    Let’s get together. I am a car dealer in Ma been doing this since 1997. We can make our own page and be the middleman. With your knowledge and my licenses, we can definitely deliver a great service across the US. I have transport vehicles across USA

    Out of curiosity, I wanted to know the price breakdown for importing one since I was thinking of importing a kei truck soon?

    • @AnythingWheeled
      @AnythingWheeled  5 месяцев назад

      Depends on how much your particular truck costs. If you go through the same way I do and let's say your CIF price is $3000. After the fees and tax you're probably tacking on another $400-500 or so then if you go pick it up then it's 'free' (gas, equipment rental like trailer and time) or add transport fee.

    all of this to buy a car from japan? maybe just source 1 here in us and pay the extra for the lesser headache

    • @AnythingWheeled
      @AnythingWheeled  5 месяцев назад +4

      I dunno it's kinda fun. I kept going back for more 😂. I suppose that's why people pay for the ones that are here for 2-3x the cost though. The rust bucket risk is also taken out of it if you're buying one local.
