Both the cop and the admission to a 2000 peso bribe
Holy crap, I didn't catch that! lol
Cop didn’t know about the recently deleted folder 😂

There are no titles in Mexico. The original sales invoice is the ownership document for the vehicle. When you sell it you sign off your rights to the car on the back to the next person.
Yeah. It's a pretty standard process to convert various foreign ownership documents to a US title. You'll usually need an appointment at the DMV with a specialist, and you'll basically just need the original foreign ownership document, the customs and EPA documentation, and if the language isn't one that DMV knows, a translation of the documents from a third party. Probably also a VIN inspection, which given this car's shady VIN, might be a spicy time, or they might just take Custom's word for it, stamp out a shiny new VIN tag for you and rivet it onto the firewall.
I have a 1974 Chrysler Dart Sedan that has the same "missing" VIN from the dash. It has the Mexico Federal silver sticker inside the door frame with the VIN which is a T and 5 numbers. I bet this guy didn't look inside the door frame for said sticker.@@EyeMWing
When people buy cars from me I make sure everything is in order before the car makes it to the border. The last thing you want to do is to not know something they ask you. I streamline the process.@@EyeMWing
You just need to be sure you go to Control Vehicular and told them the car is now yours or of another person because os stuff like tickets.
IN a lot of states the seller gets the baja and has to pay all back fees and tickets at that time. Sometimes the plates stay with the vehicle and the seller takes the responsibility of paying that because he bought it at a lower price.@@Ms666slayer
This sounds like a national lampoon movie ready to happen.
Even got the station wagon to match.
He Even Does Looks Like Chevy Chase!!!
The road from Monterrey to Nuevo Laredo is one of the most dangerous. Also Nuevo Laredo has always been one of the most violent cities. If you want to buy a mexican car, i think Baja California is the best option near the border or buy it in the central area and ship it.
No, the Nogales border crossing is the calmest. That is where I cross the cars I sell.
Right ! i lived in Hermosillo a couple of years and never got a problem crossing to Tucson or Phoenix@@mexicanspec The thing is there are not many cars to buy in that area.
There are not many good cars to buy there. The closer you are to the border the more you have imported American cars and they were mostly imported at the end of thier lives. I am in Los Mochis and have the same problem.@@elloyale9200
@@mexicanspecjust crossing or properly import them?
Importing them properly.@@redbaron4578
I don't know when he did this (if he said I missed it) but these days make sure that if you're going to a country where you don't speak the language you have a mobile phone with Google Translate on it and data roaming. This allows you to convert any signs you see by pointing the camera at them or have realtime conversations with people.
It has got me out of a few tough spots where neither of us knew what the other was saying.
if u dont speak spanish dont go to mexico. thats how people get kidnapped. Because yeah we can catch on to sketchy shit IF we speak the language. If not, and we understand a few words, easy to trick us. No seas menso carnal
If it makes you feel any better, right after COVID lock down ended. I was crossing the Detroit/Windsor border and I had one border official asking me questions and another border official yelling questions at me while he searched my car.
no one cares stay in canada
The car has DRUGS literally written on it 😂😂😂
That was previously owned by an American drug mule. They packed the bricks in the door. They ended up killing dude though after coming up short 1 time. He's under the desert now.
Inside the right rear door there should be a silver sticker which has the VIN and all pertinent information. That is the official VIN tag.
Unless some body work shop used the paint gun on it :T
Yes I did find that with a 1979 black Dodge Pick Up. They painted right over the numbers and they are not embossed, so I couldn't get that truck for my buyer. it was a shame, it was a nice truck.@@ply61
As someone who travels to developing countries all the time, all the stuff he described is normal. Keep that in mind when someone calls the US a 3rd world country 😂
Facts
Who calls the US 3rd world country ? I worked 6 years in Africa
It's normal after you have seen it enough to normalise it. It is not normal the first time you see it.
Indeed, unlike in the US the police don't shoot people innocent of any crime and completely unarmed dead.
Hahahahahaha "developing counties", As someone who travels often to the USA and Canada and UE I can say IUS is the most undevelped country I have ever visit, roach infested homeless full shiphole, you are funny. Or maybe US bacamo so developed ttah it went backwards.
As a person who travels to Mexico often it took me a while to realize that national guard being everywhere is just a matter of public safety...
Huh?
Yeah. For example, the guard in front of the auto part store.
Without them there's nothing actively deterring organized crime.
@@vytalproductions999a man of culture 👍☺️
You couldn't pay me to go pick up that piece of shit even if you gave it to me! And to think he paid $3,500 USD for it?! Ol' Barnum was right!
Did he ever explain why he wanted to go to Mexico to buy an old Duster?
No shit lol
The cost, obviously.
Just came back from driving to Mexico. I was vlogging and they made me delete it. Little did they know I could easily get the footage back from the trash
As someone who regularly drives across the U.S./Mexico border...the wrong bridge? Really, my dude? As long as there's a port of entry and you have your paperwork in order, there is no such thing as a "wrong bridge."
I thought this was going to be another Chris story, given the show on Netflix…
I think I’d go to Japan to buy a car before trying to buy one from Mexico - and I live in CA where they haul 3 junk trucks using a 4th junk truck, and drive them across the boarder.
Also was waiting for him to say when he got back to SC, he opened the rear hatch and under the floor where the spare would be was just packed with drugs.
Also also, my dad had a wagon like that. It completely rusted out the floorboards within 5 years from new in the early 80’s. I guess somehow that one survived in Mexico! (ours had manual windows and no AC as well)
Now THIS was a cool car story. 😅
Why go to countries you can't even speak the language. ESPECIALLY when you know there reckless things that go on. Like some choices are like nah it's not worth doing it.
Ok, here's the deal. You have the invoice, that's your proof of ownership IN MEXICO. So, you imported it, so, you have to legally do it in the US.
Yo man you got to delete the photo esse
Nice stereotype, but that’s a Mexican American word
It is not difficult to cross a car if you are prepared. You do not try to cross a vehicle with mechanical problems. All of the hoses and such should have been repaired before you got to the line. Also the military is there to protect you. You should be glad they were there. Also Also, you went into a no go zone where Los Zetas control the area. Other border crossings are no so intense. I will not go into that area for all the money in the US.
They did it for a Dart wagon.
Yes and he had a lot of problems.@@somenygaard
The moment with the drug dogs sounds g'd nerve-racking.
Lord knows what could be stored in the door panel of an old nondescript wagon from Mexico.
10:30 Low profile tires on an ATV does not seem very practical.
"Los drogos" just mean "the junkies"
And yeah it sucks there's all three levels of government there plus all the cartel operations, but thank your local american junkies to finance all that shit we have to deal with down here
My border story. Wanted to watch a professional fishing event Day1 depart, and I get the 100 Q treatment at Buffalo/ONT. They'd never heard or done driving 10hrs to watch an event. So car searching and invasive questions it was. Sheesh
That had my heart racing nothing like having a vehicle with no paperwork
Cool story and car.👍
I had a 76 Aspen wagon. Same car. It was dependable but I never "liked" it.
Allegedly, this guy makes some awesome stickers
Fascinating story!!
Hoo boy, does this bring back memories. In the mid 80's my now ex-wife and I drove across Mexico. Our vehicle entry permit was a mimeograph (look it up kids) copy of a 1977 blue Ford Grenada. We were in a 1974 VW Super Beatle. And we had to pay bribes from start to finish. Sure we were sorta young and unknowing. And there were bribes and then there were BRIBES. The guys in tailored suits with shoes that cost a lot more than our vehicle, with bulges under their arms. I never even considered lying to them and sometimes I didn't have to bribe them, because they asked how much I paid their minions. I told them the exact truth, and then something happened, so that I didn't need to pay more? Love the country, love the people, not so fond of their government. And this is sorta reminding me of our system at this time.
Fun fact, in Mexico you can have some weird vin numbers that do not conform to international standards, I have 1998 bmw e36 that is armored from the factory and didn’t have a vin tag in the windshield and the one in the firewall is only 7 digits but everything is legal.
First mistake was going through Nuevo Laredo. Should've gone through Piedras Negras
Jimny is the Suzukis
The Raptor R is an amazing truck, and I want one, but I think Hoovie went into owning the Lightning all wrong and that is why he had such a bad experience. I own a Lightning and haven't really had any of the problems Hoovie had. I bought the extended range vs. Hoovies standard range, I have Fords 240v 80A L2 charger vs. Hoovies 120v 20A wall outlet charger, I precondition the battery in the winter with the App vs. Hoovie jumping into it ice cold and expecting to tow. 1year 14K miles with not one issue in ownership of the truck. The public charging infrastructure needs work for sure but I have only used that a handful of times in the year of ownership so for the occasional use it's really a non-issue 99% of charging is at home so I don't even need to spend the 5min filling up gas, I spend 30s plugging in and when I come back to the truck it's fully charged.
I mean I love the story, but why a 1977 Dodge Dart station wagon? 🤣
Why for $3500?
Why not?
There are much nicer cars here for that price, much nicer.@@CrackedCandy
Everytime I looked away I thought rabbit was talking 😂
I started hearing it after reading this comment 😂
I walked across the border at Nuevo Laredo once for sightseeing and buy gifts - have no desire to go back.
Wagon picture for reference is a "Volare"...
No it isn't, it is a Dodge Dart wagon. Mexico used Dodge front parts with Plymouth rear parts with the name Dodge on it.
Nice story to hear , more of such import heroics please
Aaahahahahh, similar thing happened me in Laos when I wanted to proceed into Thailand with my Vietnamese motorbike. When I entered Laos, they did not register the bike, I had no documentation of the bike entering Laos, therefore the border patrols on the Thai-Laotioan border did not want to let it pass xD
Im from Nuevo Laredo and its terrible, you did a great job describing the guys with the radios, they are cartel members.
The nissan sunny/tsuru at 8:03❤❤
Beautiful Dodge wagon🎈
But can’t miss the ‘CNNBALL’ Honda Odyssey!
Why didn't this guy get a temperature gage at the Auto Zone common sence guy!!!
in the U.S. that would be an Aspen wagon
Are you part of Carmex in Texas? How possible is it to buy a brand new car and bring it into Texas? I live in a state that has absolutely no inspection or smog requirements whatsoever, And I’d like to get a new car that we can’t get here in the states.
I am at a loss with this one...what did this gentleman expect? Seriously! Great story, but none of this would have happened if he had prepared better or just oversaw the car being shipped home. Somebody needs to travel more and understand border crossings better. All this paranoia and BS for what's a beaten Volare/Aspen!
they make up the rules as they go, be prepared for it.
But... why?
Never wash a car in Mexico worst thing you can do asking to get to secondary..
Usually they will threaten anyhow they can, the photos are 100% legal but as they are threatening you they don't want to be shoot... Greetings from Mexico lol
Every car enthusiast knows that the "Little Suzuki" it's the famous Suzuki Jimny...
Never thought I'd see someone drinking Hite on this channel
You'd think importing from Mexico would be easier... but nooo why would it be
It is if you are prepared.
@mexicanspec have you done it before ? If so I have a bunch of questions
Hey Ed!!!🎉
Definitely would’ve filed a complaint against that agent that threatened you with the dog assuming it was a US Border Patrol. Completely unnecessary, unprofessional, disrespectful, and dangerous.
talk about VINFAST and INEOS grenadier cars
The dogs always alert its a scam
3500 for that ???
You sure there were no drugs in that POS ?
Totally over priced. 3500 pesos would be around $200 USD, that sounds much better .
Now this is a story!!!!!! Not gonna lie… getting tired of hearing rich dudes brag on this channel. This story right here is what this channel is all about in my humble opinion.
FYI, google translate works if you take a picture of the sign...
7:16 - Yes please
I got great idea Mexican cannonball with bribes
So it was a great issue free trip aside from the monsters in his head 😂
You found a V8 Dart wagon? Very rare. $3500 US????????????
😂😂
Quite entertaining!
As far as Korean beers go, Cass > Hite. 🍺
Rememeber guys the only way you want be related/close/in Mexico is if you are speeding.
As opposed to doing speed.
3500$ and all of that for buying something you could find here in US for 5k

I would 💩 my pants. Lol
Why would you subject yourself to that which so easily could have been disastrous?
God Bless America!
Go Tigers!
Here's why I stay right here in the good ol' U S of A.
Amazing storyteller
Los Drogos is not the drugs 😂
9:44 Los dogas is the drugs. Looks more like a capital A than an o.
Why go to all this trouble for a POS wagon?
Why do people say VIN number😂
Because saying “VI Number” sounds weird. ;)
Ignorance
talk about Chinese cars manufacturers international expansion
100 bucks? That was cheap...
Not the finest vintage of dodge dart… hardly worth getting bit on the arse over!
Would have been funnier if Tim would have told the story with a mustache and a Mexican accent..
I seen car that you will never see in the United States .
Lol, you paid $3,500 for that?
3500 pesos or 350 us
@@abigalanderson7494right, but he said $3500 dollars not pesos. Maybe he didn't make the mental translation. Hopefully. Today, 3500 pesos is $200.24 dollars
@@CrackedCandy lol if he paid 3500 US then Ed should have titled the video "Being mugged in mexico"
My stomach hurts after watching this. 😊
This story shows how some Americans live in a bubble. Nothing he said was surprising😂
Whatever you do do not call a border patrol dog cute and asked to pet it. I made that mistake on the way to Cuba for a wedding. They searched my bag the dog continue to walk away from me and my bag 3 times. If it wasn't for 15 people walking up to us going what are you guys doing and the dog walking away I feel like it would have been a much worse situation.
I would rather purchase a vehicle from Canada...
The Border Guards (both ways) are ALOT nicer!
Try crossing into Canada with .22 shells on your floor board from a recent ground squirrel hunt and a hunting knife that tests positive for weed 'cause yer brother used it to seperate the stems and the seeds....
@@jorgeherter "Spit Happens!"
Canada doesn't have solid old cars, they have all rusted away.
*Funk the Police* 🕺🏽
Way too much effort for a shitbox Mopar!!
And college age kids think America is hell 🤣🤣🤣
Always funny to hear a person that does not live in a border state act shocked about what they see or how things work south of the border .
This is why the average person does not understand why we should have a wall.
all that for a demolition derby candidate?
Lesson? Don't go to Mexico.
That car is not worth it
Am I the only one that thinks he sounds like rabbit?
Is this international rabbit?
Nuevo Laredo is sketchyyyyy
Why did you even think of going down there when the illegal situation is coming in? Get a car in the states. Why go there and have very unpleasant thing happen to you? I’ll bet you’re not doing it ever again!
