    From one software engineer to another excellent work. I did everything myself as well (except for the US customs side of things) and I'll be picking up my car tomorrow from the port. Thanks for the detailed vid 🙏

    At the end you mention the price differential for your car, between the import and the American market was $15000. That is not very much considering all the costs involved with importing one, not to mention all the hassles. You were looking for a rare car but do you think the process is worth the hassle if one is just looking for a bit of a bargain? Also I heard the Japanise crs are subject to an intense inspection process in Japan and as a result are usually in much better condition than your typical American car. Did you find that to be true. PS I can tell you are an engineer by the relentlessly systematic way you went through the process

      @@johnohara1433 I hear you that this may be a lot of hassle. The price differential included the import costs, and it is the only way I could afford it - so that made the hassle worth it to me. I also like problem solving, and this was one big problem to solve!
      Whether it’s worth doing is totally up to the person importing. It’s also important to think about what you’re actually getting for your money. For example, I thought I might be able to get a Kei truck here for cheap, as I needed a truck to haul some fishing gear. I reached out to JCD and watched some auctions - and I was looking 4-8k landed depending on condition (I think shipping bottomed out at a ~2k cost, which surprised me.)
      Instead, I found a local 94 GMC Sierra 1500, with an optional 305 V8. Fit all of my needs and was $2,000. I got much more truck for way less money and hassle!
      This is all to say - it depends on how hard you want to work to save money, and your tolerance for risks / planning!

    But where am I going to find tires for a right hand drive car??

    • @epochmotoring
      @epochmotoring  4 месяца назад

      Ah, you just buy US tires and mount them against the recommended rotation. Tires rotate the opposite way in Japan and Australia
