I think this Kit would be perfect if you put some crew in it. Ok, obviously this blocks more view but also shows how crampt it was inside of the Tank.
Another outstanding build!
Blind for 20 minutes?!? Andy, we don’t need back to back build videos in such a short time.
Slow it down!
Thank you.
Great video Andy, that was a very impressive build! Would have kinda neat to see 1 or 2 crew members inside the tank to show how tight working space was. Keep up the great work. A big hello from Pennsylvania.
Great work Andy would a couple of small LED's on the inside be an option to make the interior pop as it seams quite dark on the video
Hi Andy, I get óptical migraines every blue moon, sometimes with headache. They suck. Actually it’s ur arteries constricting in the vision center of your 🧠 brain - Depravation of oxygen.
Nice work Andy, not a kit for me but you did a great job on it. Well done mate!!
Great build Andy and WELCOME to the world of getting the type of migraines that nobody believes or understands. I've had them since I was a teenager and very few people can comprehend what it's like and most don't even believe you
Count me in as a believer...I get them too.
Only way I cure migranes are too go in a dark room with ice on my head and go asleep... I get them that bad it make me physically sick. Migraleve tablets help.
I remember when I met someone else that had them and lost vision like I did, she was so happy to find another hahaha mien always start with a small undefinable spot that gets bigger and bigger then it goes away then 5 mins after that my brain feels like it's in a bag of sand
Optical migraines are no laughing matter! Sorry!
Very impressive build. I'd probably never be able to complete it, I just don't have your patience. You've done an excellent job.
Thanks Andy for showing me how it's done to get a great paint job on the Panther G late. Thanks for all of your tutorial . Makes it easier when my kit arrives. One of fellow Australians modellers cut the whole hull and turrent on one side of Panther G. There's an article about it in the Australian Model art magazine for this month.
Made me buy that model :)
me too. I just bought it an hour ago lol
I'm so glad I came across this channel. He's videos are awesome and the variety of cool kits is great!
you have a lot of there
Any word if any of the companies will make a M60A1 or M88A1 with full interior. I have the Rye Field M1A2 with full interior. When I was in the Army, I drove and worked on all three.
Andy you are a "diamond geezer" as we say over here in the UK. The model looks great but what was really important to me was when you described Occular Migraines. Ive had this happen to me a few times and it scared the life out of me but its totally harmless and goes within 30 mins. Truth is I never got it checked as my eyesight has to be good for my work but now I know what it is, and it always happens during or after doing fiddly bits, I feel a lot more relaxed. Thanks Andy.
Thank you
WOW!!! Awesome Panther kit , and very well executed by a true artist. Look after your eyes Andy, you only have one pair, so go easy on the detail building, and don't overdo it 😉
What a dedicated build! Excellent work as always!
In a word, SPECTACULAR. Both the model and the video. Easily one of your best, two thumbs up. I'm very glad I ordered that Panther reference book, I can see it being invaluable once I decide which model to buy. Keep 'em coming, Andy!
I watch your videos for years now. And I really learned a lot from them. But this is by far the most amazing build I have seen in ages! Fantastic!
Kind Regards from Germany
I keep coming back to your old build videos. They're just so well made and presented, they're a joy to watch even multiple times.
Hello andy! Great model ahow kit really show's how the vehicle would function and how crampt and scary it would be in combat anyway i was wondering could you link where you bought the model?
New comment 3 years later, I received a Tamiya King Tiger today, older kit. So cool, it has a very limited part count. So, I'm actually looking forward to it! Guys, I'm nearly 60 and my eyesight is not what it used to be nor do my fingers work as well.
Just about to finish the hull cutaway version of this.. It's a wonderful model, but sadly let down by woeful instructions (the cutaway version gets the instructions of the full version, so you're expected to work a lot out for yourself) with pretty awful translations and unclear illustrations. There are also a few weird problems with the mould design (holes being left out randomly, etc) and just general brain farts (the first aid kit has a strap/buckle over where the decal should go, requiring veeery tedious decal surgery).
But... if you have the patience, then it is an awesomely detailed final product. One thing I would point out though, is that the colour outline the kit comes with is pretty much entirely wrong!! A 1944/45 Panther will generally have a red primer base on the hull, not grey (the factories simply didn't have the paint, especially going into '45). There are quite a few other glaring errors, so I'd recommend doing good research prior to painting literally anything.
I get those optical migraines when I`m stressed out and they`re exactly as you described. Only thing you can do is take some excedrine and relax until it goes away, which, for me is under 15 minutes usually. That was an awesome build Andy, too much for me though, I`d go blind for sure...lol.
After painting parts you'll be gluing and affixing later, do you scrape the paint off the areas where you'll be applying the glue? And, what type of glue do you customarily apply to clear parts? When i was gluing some windshields on a jeep i previously assembled, the glue made the joints opaque......one more question...do use use a primer before painting any of the parts?
Stunning work. Really enjoying your videos and seeing the great kits you build
Such a great kit just way beyond my skill level. It would be awesome if a company made one of these full interior see through kit for a Sherman tank.
Maybe Academy...they make a few kits with full interiors...I built the M-3 Lee and have the Tiger 1 early in my stash...not sure about the Sherman though.
Don´t underestimate your self ! Best wishes !
Andy, I've noticed that the painted plastic slides a lot. Especially the front glacias plate. How or what paint did you use to keep it so durable. I'm using mission models paint and it keeps scratching off the plastic. I wash the plastic but the paint still scratches off.
I know this was a couple of years ago but I have just started making the Jagdpanther G2 and I would say these kits are definitely not for the beginner. So far I have built the gun and upper hull and there are a massive number of very small parts where I had to use a powerful magnifying glass to do the work. The Jagdpanther only has a clear roof to the gun compartment so I have used my dremel to cut through the walls of the hull otherwise the interior detail won't really be seen. Like you I am going to leave out a number of the shells to aid visibility of the interior.
Very nice...Have you seen the real cutaway of the King Tiger? I saw it at the Patton museum when it was at Ft Knox, KY.
I am building this model and I noticed your kit is missing some parts (as in you didn't install them?) On the turret basket floor there is a rectangular looking Photo etched box, some other little photo etched pieces on the floor like these 2 little triangle parts and another metal piece that goes over a small cylinder on the ground, also, the piping from the air compressor. how come you left all that stuff off?
very admire your amercians, this kit is from a chinese compony but you can buy them earilier than . but the good thing is we can buy them cheaper than you.lol.
Fantastic! Bring on the Takom!! :) I need to know which one to buy! :)
The instructions for the 44 version shows cutting off parts of the clear turret?! any suggestions on how to do that without damaging the clear plastic?
I know this is a little late... lol But I think it would be great to see this kit done half clear half painted. Just my two cents incase you ever do another, or a similar type kit.
I had that eye probelm a few years ago for first time..frightned the life out of me as i have a retinal eye problem..luckily it went away like yourself
I'd have painted the top front over and do the sides same as the left and leave the clear hatch ring only on the top! Think I might do mine with the top painted up a wee bit with that clear hatch in place for gunner and driver just across by the gun stay and vision port
nice. Very nice. But why don't you paint the engine parts first before gluing it together?
Andy, great build, what glue did you use for attaching parts to the clear parts?
Andy great build , I suffer with migranes so I will pass on this one. I get migranes to the point it make me physically sick. Only way I found to work 100% to get rid of them is to go asleep in a very dark room with a ice pack strapped to my head tablets rarely work. Give it a try if you have an attack again
Good build but if i were you i would've used the tamiya brass projectiles but im not sure if they made them for the panther
What do you mean by limited edition transparent hull? How many of them will be released, and how much do they want for it?
Such patience and skill, but that would drive me mad!!
could you have fit crew in the build? great vid Andy. hell of a build.
Why are they so expensive here. They cost like 50 bucks back home for me.
Hi there andy, do you prime the model before you layered the white? What product do you use to keep the paint down?
Do more like this. Maby the Sturmtiger.
Great ... but i would have liked to see assembling the tracks
Is there a difference between thinning tamiya paints with rubbing alcohol or the brand name thinner?
Verry nice job Andy greetings from Belgium
would be awesome if could build and paint a strv 103
I Just buy this kit but i think its strange the engine deck and frontale armor plate arent see through plastic
An absolute masterpiece! Well done sir. As a newbie to modelling I'm loving your videos.
I'm no newbie to scale modelling and I still think it's a masterpiece.
It really doesn’t look like five people could fit in that thing, does it.
andy please don't play that music that's nurse rachet music
Far be it from me to question the master but if the torsion bars and the firewall need 'flexing' to fit does that not mean the sides of the hull are off true rather than the parts being too long?
Bought the Tacom Panther A , but this is a very nice video
Fantastic build, how many hours do you have in it?
AFAIK ivory paint ral1001 was only for combat compartment. Motor compartment were painted red oxide primer ral8012 only.
Vallejo is Spanish, I think. So it would be pronounced, “vai-yay-ho”, slight emphasis on, “yay”, because when you see the finished, painted model, you go “Yay!” 🤗
looking good thare as post and you will will see
I have to deal with migraines a lot. Been gettintesg them for 30+ years. Some times the vision aura lasts for 45 minutes to an hour. Puts a damper on my modelling activities.
I get this optical migraines also once or twice a month, pain in the &$#@.
Great job 👍. I wouldn't say this kit is beyond my skill level, just beyond my patience level. Way too many parts for my liking. Still another outstanding job of one of my favorite vehicles.
Brilliant, just great, aren't you tempted to put a little bit of interior lighting in it?
WOW...just wow....as an ex Chieftain MBT crewman I can fully appreciate how cramped the inside of a tank can be. chieftains are even worse than the panther or any WWII tank tbh because the technology still have to be fitted inside the most frugal of spaces. This is a stunning build and I must applaud you on the quality of both it and the videos...thank you....and buddy, rest, take it easy, it’s meant to be fun!
Andy, Andy, Andy.... How do you turn out these videos so frequently? Do you close the store while you film? After hours? and the editing must be done overnight in order to post these so quick... Your production values and degree of detail explanation continue to overwhelm and are always a thrill to consume... thanks for your efforts, dollar investments and time... I presume you probably have to sell 3 - 4 kits in order to compensate for the kit you consume for the video... maybe by selling them off, you recoup some expense... a signed ?Andy" model would be priceless... ha!
A great solution to a tough kit to build. Which type of glue did you use to attach pieces to the clear parts? Was tamiya cement ok, because I plan on getting this kit and considered using GS-Cement on the clear stuff.
Sgt Bones I was going to ask the same question
I have the Takom Tiger which I feared till watching this build Andy. Going to start it now
Bloody Beaut, Awesome build, outstanding, worth the watch, Cheers from DownUnder, Cheers Bob
Great work Andy, I have the cutaway version and no instructions for the cutaways, justt stock so working my way through, hope thise migraines are temporary. I noted you had issues with the floor cross struts and I noticed your sponsons have a gap between them and the lower hull suspension plate. Mine are flush and the cross pieces fitted like a dream, except the rear 3-piece section which was a nightmare. Currently it is all in sub assemblies waiting for painting. And one guy's comment was very true, the lower section was meant to be a dark grey green RAL 7009 with trans and other parts as they came from their factories, often just black, and the lower hulls in late 44/45 in primer when Henschel couldn't get the paint and wanted tanks off the line asap. The allies were very active heavy bombing every big factory they knew about.
WOW, that little issue with your eyes is freaky!! I would have panicked if I lost my vision. Nice job though, i love watching your videos.
Greetings from Florida, Andy! Great work once again, supremely entertaining. Could you comment on the origin of the real life Panther with viewing cutouts you show at 20:56? Whats the story behind that modification? I'd love to base a kit on that example specifically!
Hi Andy,
maybe you can try to fix upper and lower plate with some paper glue. it will fix it but not permanently. Anyway you have done great work again! Greeting from the Czech republic.
Jacob
Clear parts give you a bunch of different options but a bit 'gimmicky' to me. Still, one heck of a kit. Great build as always, Andy!
Just bought this kit and I’ve watched this build several times. Excellent hints and tips, one thing I noticed… your barrel support is facing forward it should be facing the turret. 👍
Wow! Impressive! I don't know if I could tackle a kit with that level of interior detail, unless it was 1/16 scale. I'm not sure that I'd have sufficient dexterity & patience! lol
Looks superb (as expected). Just wondering why you didn't display it the same as the Takom King Tiger. I liked the idea from the photo of maybe cutting out the squares on the two sides and using red paint around the holes as you would normally seein cutaway museum pieces. Brilliant build though
very enjoyable video. Your channel is really helping me get back into modeling now the kids have grown. Keep up the great work. Stu from NZ
lovely build. when I saw part 1 was leaning toward painting half camo....like many book cutaways...but yours is excellent
Wonderful job and a you are a joy to watch , you explain everything brilliantly, and you show that you are human with mistakes not edited out, maybe small magnets to hold down the engine covers ? 👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome. Kit. For display. Have you thought about maybe making it look like an exploded drawing and have the turret and engine hatch suspended above the tank with some fine rods?
ANYBODY CATCH THAT THE MUSIC WAS USED IN ENDING OF THE MOVIE "SOYLANT GREEN"....
WHEN EDWARD G. ROBINSON WAS DYING.....
Question for you Andy. I am getting back into the hobby after 35 year break. I want to glue together and paint sub assemblies that are the same color. But would like to paint smaller detailed parts of different color while not glued in place. Example would be painting ammo and then gluing onto the racks or painting tools before gluing onto the hull. Any advice or videos for me?
Great work Andy! and maybe, in 2022, when here in Brazil the price come down in a human been level, I buil this.
Great build, I am going to use your video when I tackle my Panther. Thanks Andy!
That is a killer build. Love it. You should have someone paint up some figures for you and put them inside the tank. That way you could show what cramped quarters they fought and lived in.
All I can say is...WOW! Lots of work and attention to detail, done very well. Need a vacation before the Takom Panther😜?
They're called Auras, Andy. Worst one I ever had was while driving. My left eye was effective blind for a few minutes and it scared the willies out of me...
I think I'd display the glacis plate on a little stand off to the side, move the fenders to the hull and glue the hull down. Would the turret numbers look kind of nice on the clear turret? I really enjoyed watching, beyond my level, my PE level is pretty much limited to the round engine covers....
Hmmm, why is it recommended after 3 years?
Great vid very good assessment of the build. I had my first vision problem about 4 years ago. It concerned me to,luckily a short nap cured it. My wife knew what it was. As you get older they will come more often.
Hey Andy, awesome job, absolutely beautiful build. I used to get these visual migraines (the Aura effect I think its called) from too much computer, it's a tell-tail sign of an approaching migraine. My father gets them from certain food triggers and are always followed up by a sever migraine for a few days so do take care of yourself, if you get these flashes again take paracetamol and close your eyes for about 30 mins (and pray that a headache doesn't follow). But most of all, don't worry, they are quite normal! :)
That aside, well done on the build, I hope to do a similar one in the near future. Have a good day!
Sean.
I've had ocular migraines all my life. Can say I'm used to them. Definitely sucks!
A really nice Panther kit Andy, superb modeling skills are shown here. Thank you!
When you installed the floor supports, maybe loose setting the firewall in could have helped with the gap problem. It might have given everything a truer width indication. Maybe push it a third of the way down so it would not be too much in the way.
Just using a little logic here...
It dosent loom that bad with the big gaps! But couldn’t you make the thing blocking the front plate rotated upwards?
Love the work, this is museum quality, I will be getting this kit yet I will paint the clear hull and turret with only patches of it allowing “windows” to view inside and I will be getting the LED light kit to illuminate the interior making it into a diorama. Againawsome work
Since this is the “year of the Panther”, and it seems like your building them all! How about a year end “line up” with all of them side by side and a short cliff notes review, or at least impressions of each, and maybe an overall?
Wow fantastic as usual Andy, congratulations and greetings from Mexico I always watch your videos!!!!
Loved the build andy..the finished kit looks fantastic..your videos always inspire me to make more kits..
It's like watching an episode of The joy of painting with Bob Ross.
Superb work Andy. I haven't done any modelmaking for over 6 years! I am feeling my mojo returning with watching your superb shows.
