When you head out on 8 towards 10, you'll pass a famous off road area called Glamis. All kinds of offroad vehicles, RV's etc.. go out there to play in the sand.
If your going to San Diego, check out Palomar Mtn Road. Good touristy place is Old Town San Diego. Some good Mexican food. Not a bike thing but San Diego Zoo is one of the best in the US, probably the world.

Then go to Laguna Beach and drive to the TOP of the World
