Hi Nick, just scrolling to see what to watch next ... and Bonamassa appeared. Love this guy. I have the dvd, Live at the Royal Albert Hall, and it is an amazing concert. Having had the Deep Purple Album "Made in Japan Live" since the 70's I have not heard a better live version of "Lazy" as Richie Blackmore was on fire throughout that album....but this ? Oh boy, this is brilliant !! Joe using a Strat, and getting so close to Richie's tone is fantastic to hear. What a cover version !!! Loving every second. I just bought a live album thanks to you Nick, by "Black Country Communion" Live Over Europe. Which has Joe with Deep Purple's Glen Hughes, along with Jason Bonham & Derek Sherinian, and they do finish the concert with a Deep Purple track "Burn". Joe obviously loves Deep Purple. On here, Jimmy Barnes vocals are so close to Ian Gillan, especially his short screams. I'm impressed. The entire band really made a point of getting the Deep Purple tones right in every instrument. Excellent. Thankyou, Byee Jim X
Jimmy Barnes what a legend you need to check out more of him!! Have a look at “Walk on” (live) or Working class man. According to popular @thatsingerreactions, Jimmy is in the top 5 male vocalists in the world. And I agree.
This appears to be recorded in Joe’s personal “ home” studio with his own “ house” band or group of musicians and Jimmy on vocals. Joe and Jimmy’s cover of Stone Cold from the same studio is the more popular video, but both are 1st class. Also another excellent live video is Joe and his band doing Riding With The Kings with preferred backing vocalist Mahalia Barnes as lead vocalist...... and yes, Mahalia is brilliant and Jimmy’s daughter.
I've seen Joe three times and will more. Always Top Notch. His band and backup singers are all phenomenal. Joe gives everyone a solo spotlight and they kill it too.
Jimmy Barnes apart from his solo work was front man for the band Cold Chisel, you should catch their song 'Bow river' live back in 2006 or when he teams up with John Farnham on 'When something is wrong with my baby' again one of the live versions.
Lord luvs ducks Nick.... Been waiting a long time This is just an absolutely amazing cut.... All Maters at there art.... Thanks Dave so flippin amazing isn't it. Cheers
Great video of Joe Bonamassa. I really do have to see him the next time he comes near Yorkshire. I did not know of Jimmy Barnes but what a great voice! Cheers Dave, great choice.
Richard - do yourself a favour and have a look at the live version of The Last Frontier by Jimmy Barnes- he’s my favourite Aussie artist and has a phenomenal voice! Let me know what you think!
@@Dr_KAP He was much younger in the Last Frontier videos I can find. I don't know how recent the Lazy video was but his voice has aged really well. I think I prefer older Jimmy's voice. Was he ever in a band or always a solo artist?
@@richarddobson815 absolutely! His band Cold Chisel is Australia’s favourite rock band- every band member can sing and write but Jimmy usually was lead together with Ian Moss. I would suggest you look at “Bow River” from the RINGSIDE concert- this is older Cold Chisel but one of their best concerts. Ian Moss is lead for half the song then Jimmy comes in. It’s absolutely epic!
Joe Loves what he does, and he is such a humble dude...I have seen him live 4 times, never ever disappoints! Please do more Joe! He will take you on quite the ride, ya never know where he is going next You may want to start with his earlier stuff, as has been mentioned several times in comments, Live from the Royal Albert Hall is a must see...Clapton comes out to play with him, is pretty amazing
Here's what Joe's long-time producer, Kevin Shirley, says about Joe and his suits... "He went through a period when he started getting recognized more and more, and it took him a minute to learn how to deal with the success that was coming his way. And, he's managed to deal with it by being sort of bi-polar about the thing. He's Joe, with his baseball cap on, and his blue jeans, and, at 7:25 he puts on the suit for an 8 o'clock show, and he slicks his hair back, and he puts on the sunglasses, and then he has a glass of wine, and Joe Bonamassa, the recording artist comes out. And then he's a different guy, then he becomes a little bit Howard Hughes. He becomes a little stand-offish, a little isolated. And it's great; we just let him be like that. And then, at the end of the show, he normally dresses down quickly, puts on his baseball cap, puts a backpack over him, and he walks straight through the crowd that have watched him play all night. And they don't know this guy is going out. And he walks through them and onto his bus, and no one stops him. It's fantastic. He really is two people. He's two-faced." Joe himself says, "The other guy is the guy in the suit and the sunglasses and that whole persona. And it's not only just an outfit, it's a stage persona in a sense that when I suit up and I go out and play, that's a different side of my personality that's not, you know, I'm not that outgoing off stage, I'm not that, you know, confident off stage." These quotes are from the movie "Guitar Man', available on Amazon Prime. Check it out if you get a chance! The second guitarist was Brad Whitford, rhythm guitarist from Aerosmith. Anton Fig on drums, Arlen Schierbaum on keyboards, and of course, Jimmy Barnes on vocals.
Saludos!! 🇦🇷
He dresses for his performances of his gigs (and some when playing with other people he will wear a blazer, etc. His philosophy is we pay to see him and he feels like he should dress for the occasion like the great blues artist like BBKing) he has said when he puts on the suit and glasses he becomes that other persona. But any of the videos in the studio he never dresses up. It's jeans t shirts sometimes a hat. The other guitarist from Aerosmith, singer the legendary Jimmy Barnes. Joe has loads of in studio videos on his channel. ❤
Joes going to be in Denver in late Summer/Early Fall 2023! Check for exact date. RIP Mike Rhodes on Bass! Got to meet Joe in 2017 or 2018...can't remember the exact year but he's really cool and friendly guy. He autographed my Fender Telecaster.
Great update, rendition, cover, of the classic Deep Purple / Blackmore/Lord/Gilliam/Glover/Paige/ classic. Everything you need and more sonic perfection.
Check out Bonamassa "Live at the Greek Theater". Would love to see your reaction and hear what you guys think. Great band and back up singers. Bet you recognize who's on the keys.
Loved your reaction You should check out Cold Chisel . Jimmy Barnes is a great singer and entertainer the cover they did live of The Troggs song Wild Thing is one of the best live performances ever recorded.
You should try "Live at Rockpalaste", Joe is fantastic. It's also him in a three person band, which is interesting. If you want a taste, try the opening song "Taken The Hit' which is unbelievable.
Check out the great Australian band Cold Chisel Jimmy Barnes one of the best rock vocalist Joe is always amazing Brad Whitford from Aerosmith on rhythm guitar
We'd better explain, Jimmy Barnes was one of two lead vocalists in Cold Chisel (together with Ian Moss, also an incredible guitarist). They would be worth checking out. I would suggest the 2003 live Ringside version of Bow River to start. 😊 Also Jimmy Barnes did 'Stone Cold' with Joe Bonamassa and that's excellent. Also worth checking out.
If you? Actually. Did any? Research on Joe B you would realize that has been playing since he was 13 years old. He's started playing with BB king That is reason he is known as the Lord of the strings. You need to check out Joe B with Beth Hart And with Mahavia Barnes Jimmy daughter He's also played with Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton.
Great reaction man. You should react to jimmy burns and john farnham "when something is wrong with my baby" live fersion; JIMMY BARNES - Stone Cold feat. Joe Bonamassa, them JOHN FARNHAM & Melbourne Symphony Orchestra "It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'N' Roll)"

It’s great that you’ve made it to Joe Bonomasa, and I would only hope that the progression might lead you to Beth Hart. Jimmy Barnes and Joe Bonamassa's version (same studio) of the song Stone Cold is amazing. Jimmy just kills it, and Joe...well, he's always great.
