Times have changed! Today when you film an airport as far as narrow bodies are concerned you see A320s and B737s…. which you know will still be around in 20 years… however 20 years ago you saw L1011s, TU-154s, DC10s, 727s, 737-200s, 747-200s, all pretty much gone from passenger service…. I got 20mins of history together, hope you enjoy. Do share it if you can… more people need to see what we’re missing today!

Well its a love hate relationship for me these vids lol .. I love them and then I hate the feeling of loss :( .. I miss the L10-11s and the other planes its all I wouldnt go as far to say boring but .. its all abit the same now >.>... Not a lot of young people now that can say they have been on a BAC 1-11 or have heard the roar of a JT8D.. Listened to 4 RR RB-211s come to life on a starting 747-200 :D.. I feel at least lucky I got to experience the last drabs of that.

The plane carried onto Kuala Lumpur and on the return I was allowed to visit the cockpit at the age of 14!

The way people book holidays/airlines have changed too. Unlike in 1998, the majority of people book online today. This has led to an increase in airline traffic and competition.

The irony being that aircraft had diverted to Tenerife due to a bomb threat made by separatists at Gran Canaria airport. Otherwise they would not even have been there.

This is really a nostalgic journey back in time, my childhood and start of my aviation enthusiasm...and actually not that long ago yet😁👀. I counted, there is exactly 6 airlines in this video still in service to date: Condor, Austrian, Travel Service, Iberia, Finnair and Air Europa. The rest have gone, many of them classic old aviation greats already then, originating from the 70s or even earlier. The late 90s/early 2000s were really the age of death for all those aviation dinos, and it is not a subject perception: the skies WERE more colourful and diverse back in the days. Not only as for airlines but for aircraft as well.

Before the boring A320 dominated the skies. Ah, good times.

Have this and close to a 100 VHS 'JPV' tapes in my collection. Thought about having them transferred to DVDs some 10 years back, but too pricey, now DVDs are ancient technology. I would really like to preserve these classics and play them occasionally on my Mac or even iPad one day. In the meantime, you might want to consider uploading full versions of your earlier 90s era videos to RUclips.
