Glad you enjoyed an old houshold favorite, my daughter and I have both been through this game several times and still love it even in the BG3 era. This game and Balders Gate 2 were Bioware at their pinicle. You did an excellent playthrough, a pleasure to watch.

I really liked that you took a moment to digest the game upon completion before you gave your summation. When I follow a long playthrough like this one it always seems so inadequate when the player finishes the game and immediately gives their 5 minute wrap-up. Taking a day or so to reflect on the experience allows the player to better understand and express how they feel about the overall experience.

Well digested epilogue Liera. Personally, I think that's what makes this game great. I love the "outro" of the game, so well written and narrated. It really ties everything together and introduces you to some of the future issues facing the world. Best game of the Trilogy (well probably the quadrilogy). A+

Morrigan to female DAO protagonist: "Hey, best friend! Go convince your boyfriend to have a baby with me."

The best ending imo is when one has a “hardened” Alistair agree to rule with Anora and then has Loghain join the Grey Wardens (Alistair leaves but fulfills his agreement of joint rule). This way Loghain can deliver the final strike on the Archdemon as a form of atonement, avoiding the need for the ritual Flemeth sent Morrigan for and any of the negative outcomes that may come as a result of it. 👍

@@LaSerpentDEden Wasn’t sure if Morrigan really wanted to take that on or if she was just doing it to save a party member, also felt the results of the ritual would comeback to bite her, the Grey Wardens, and/or everyone else in the rear. So, prefer the outcome without the ritual.

Really great playthrough! I love how this game isnt afraid to hurt you, to be really tragic at times. The Hero of Ferelden did what needed to be done. But they couldnt fix Orzammar, or do right by their lover, or protect the elves. The world continues to be grimy and hard as it always was, but it survived. Thanks, Warden.

To add some notes to some of concerns in the epilogue:
-Morrigan made it clear it's not the soul of an archdemon in the child, but that of an old god. The old gods were what the archdemons were prior to their corruption as according to their lore that had been circulating through the whole game.
    - Yes, only the human noble has the option to marry Alistair, or Anora if you play as a male.
    - Cullen's madness is the result of taking the boon to make the Circle of Magi independent. If you remember, the guy was pretty unstable after being tortured by the blood mages that took over briefly, so it only takes a little imagination to see what giving mages free reign can do to a guy who belongs to an order made to keep em on a short leash
    - There were big flags regarding Orzammar; Harrowmont, while wanting to maintain order, was more prone to keeping things the same like the king before rather than fixing the problems that were already there, and with things as bad as they were, the regression was inevitable

    • @LaSerpentDEden
      @LaSerpentDEden 3 месяца назад

Yea harrowmont is an ineffective liberal institutionalist and his opposition was a radical ready for any change even if authoritarian. Very interesting parallels to the modern American election. People in real life chose radical change at the expense of Facism because they just want ANY change no matter how destructive. It's an interesting narrative.

About the DLCs, this is how I would suggest you progress, based on what you shared about your plans.
    - You could play Leliana's Song right away or after a short break as it is not very long (should only take 1 video, 2 max).
    - Awakening you should definitely play, but it is quite long, so you may want to take a bit of a break before you do it.
    - You could then play any remaining DLCs (I would definitely recommend Witch Hunt, the others you can take or leave). I don't think you will have to take a break between Awakening and the other DLCs, but after that you could take another break before starting DA2.
    - DA2, even including the two DLCs, is a bit shorter than Origins, but you will probably still want to take break afterwards. Although I would recommend to prepare your World State for Inquisition in the Dragon Age Keep right after finishing DA2, while your memory is still fresh. If you don't know what the Dragon Age Keep is or how it works, I am sure there are a lot of people here willing or even eager to explain. Myself included, but this comment is long enough already.
    - DA Inquisition is again on the longer side, how long will depend on how you play it. But it can be so long that you may actually want to take a break during your playthrough.
I hope this doesn't make it seem too daunting and in the end you should make whatever decisions work for you and not worry too much about what anyone here thinks. You'll only get to play these games once for the first time, so please make it the best possible playthorugh for yourself not for anyone else.

Congrats on finally finishing this. For my part, as far as DLC is concerned, you should definitely play Awakening (it's events are hinted at towards the end of the slide-show). You should also play Witch Hunt, which gives some closure to the Morrigan situation. Leliana's Song is a prologue of sorts.
The conversation with Morrigan regarding her sleeping with Alistair and having an Old God baby was what I hinted in a previous comment, personally not surprised you made this choice.
As far as romancing Alistair, I suppose without knowing the events of the game, and you wanting him to become King, I can't see how this could have a better outcome. If you ever consider replaying this on your own, FAR in the future whether in private or for the channel, I would recommend the Human Noble origin or the Female City Elf origin. The Human Noble especially ties you very strongly to the whole civil war situation, both narratively and "lore-wise" I suppose you could say.

    "I feel dirty..."
I recently saw in someone else's playthrough, that there's a mod which adds a short scene after the Dark Ritual. I can't remember if it completely replaces the Morrigan sex scene, or if it's purely additional, but essentially it shows Alistair and the Warden comforting each other after the ritual, acknowledging that what's just happened is distressing for both of them. It's only a brief scene, but I felt it added something that was much needed there.

You will see. Wegen Alistair - du warst seine wahre Liebe. Man macht alles dafür. Alles. Forrest Gump. Gottes vergessene Kinder usw. Alistair is like me. Always trying to be funny to make the other one to smile and feeling good. Maybe just a shield to don´t look behind my wall, cause there is so much more und man hat Angst wieder verletzt zu werden.

You can also replay at whatever race you want, romance Alistair all the way and simply NOT make him king. In this way everyone is happy. Your Warden, Alistair with doing what he is good in, and has chosen for himself, and Anora gets her throne too :D
(Though Zevran's and Leliana's romance are nice too, though.)

I never noticed Anora pulling her hand away from Alistair before. I'm doing another playthrough now, so I'll have to see if it usually happens (or maybe only if the Warden romances him?).
Anyway, I'm excited to watch the next game (be that Leliana's Song, Awakening or Dragon Age 2).

A quick technical note about the expansions. Because this is now a very old game, there have been reports of save games not importing corrently into the expansions if not done in a particular order. The expansions that let you import your character from the base game are Awakening, Golems of Amgarrak and Witch Hunt, and it is strongly recommended that you play them in that order. Out of these, Golems of Amgarrak is the only one that doesn't really contribute to the big story, though it has some interesting puzzles. In any case, With Hunt is best saved for last, for reasons I will not share due to spoilers.

I hope you don't mind some spoilers now that you've finished the game. There's some epilogue information I'll be typing below. If you don't want to see other epilogue results, then feel free to skip the first point I make. :)
--I remember feeling incredibly frustrated. I picked the exact same options you did for the Dwarves. Harrowmont and destroy the Anvil. Its ironic. Bhelen is a terrible person, but apparently he does a lot of good. I mean he does a lot of progressive things that left me completely baffled. Harrowmont, on the other hand, is just far too kind a person to rule a kingdom of dwarves stubborn to a fault. However, if Harrowmont turned out to be this super great ruler and Bhelen this super evil one, that would have quite a binary and unrealistic narrative. Branka living being the better option also completely and utterly baffles me. The epilogue is very satisfying starting as a Dwarf Noble, and dying to the archdemon.
-Cullen went insane because you gave the circle independence. That's what pushed him over the edge. If you don't give them independence, then he doesn't go insane.
--Aside from the Dwarven epilogue results, the rest of the game felt very appropriate. Loghain's redemption arc is VERY interesting, by the way. There is of course an expansion-DLC (Dragon Age: Awakening), which I highly suggest playing before DA2.
--When you get around to DA:I, you can have the game import a "layout" from a site called "Dragon Age Keep". It will give you heavy spoilers though, as it contains every possible transferable option between all games. On the other hand, it allows you to pick new world-states when starting Dragon Age: Inquisition without having to replay the first two games again (fun, but time consuming).
-Thanks for playing! It was very interesting! I look forward to seeing more!

I know I am way late to this, but it's kind of a shame that you missed out on some fights and encounters in this episode.
For example there were more darkspawn to clear out down in the town of Redcliffe. You looked at them but decided to turn around and go to the castle.
I believe you also missed out on some flavor talks when all your companions were in the redcliffe castle (before the Morrigan Dark Ritual stuff) aswell as some other NPC's.
Another moment was the final battle sequence you skipped the Alienage aswell as that you didn't call out your armies you only did this at the final battle.
I know they are not really necescarry to call but they really add to the epic experience of the final battle imo.
Seeing the armies you recruited come to your aid really added to the atmosphere imo.
I was actually looking forward to seeing which armies you'd call in what situations and what your reaction would be aswell as how the fights would go.
Especially in the Alianage since you missed an entire Darkspawn Commander bossfight there.
All in all still a fun playthrough but these are just a few moments that you passed here in the end.

  • @MizanQistina
    @MizanQistina 4 месяца назад +1

Woah, you finally end the game, I lost track of your playthrough quite some time 😂
Human king can't marry non-human and Mages, it's scandalous and dangerous. Elves in general are actually still an enemy, the City Elves are second class citizens. Blood Mages can control mind.
About Tevinter, Connor can go there just because Ferelden Circle is now free from The Chantry by your boon. Not all Circles are free, just in Ferelden. Tevinter is still an enemy to the Chantry kingdoms.
Harrowmont is a conservative and traditionalist, by means he won't bring change to Orzamar problematic caste system. The only way he can survive is by having extra power. If the Anvil is not destroyed, he will order Golems to guard his position.
Destroying The Anvil is actually a bad decision, it is because Golems are immune to the darkspawn taint. Orzamar can prevent more deaths with army of Golems clearing up the Deep Roads. It is a sacrifice Dwarves have to make becoming Golems for greater good.

Best option is to Romance Alistair and retreat with him somewhere. Or have him rule Alone! And definitely not have a kid with Morigan. This ending isn't even close to the worst for him! U did great! They are so many outcomes, and it's hard to know what is the better path for anyone including the warden!

Oh, please. Nobility sometimes have to have sex with people they don't like, both men and women, to produce an heir or two. Consider this practice Alistair needs to deal with Anora. By the way, seeing how Sandal dealt with all those darkspawn, don't you wish you could have chosen him for your party?
