- Following last weeks Reese’s cheat day calorie challenge, we returned on a quest to test our limits with a product completely dissimilar in both ingredients and intensions!
Well, seeing Quest Nutrition offers delicious snack options contain virtually no sugar and a hefty dose of dietary fiber, we thought these bars & cookies seemed like the perfect contrast to our Big Cup Battle!
Certain that the absurd amount of fiber available would bring us to capacity at a far lower caloric total than we’re used to in our food challenges, our objectives for this week quickly changed. This Takedown Tuesday experiment was strictly to find out just how many Quest bars the Michel twins are capable of consuming in one sitting and be able to compare the effects of such a low sugar/high fiber menu versus our typical challenges.
Despite the inevitable digestive distress, we had a ton of fun on this quest and hope you enjoy!

ABOUT THE MICHEL TWINS:
Hello friends,
We’re twin brothers, Peter & Nathan Michel, from Providence, RI. 👬
If you’ve found yourself here, you’ve probably already dipped your toes into the unusual (yet hopefully entertaining!) waters of twins overindulging in synchronization that was missing from the world prior to the creation of this channel! While we shamelessly share ourselves killing cravings with overindulgence and gluttony, overloading on our favorite food items, and occasionally creating and consuming mega-sized monstrosities, we’re pretty average guys who otherwise lead quite healthy, balanced lifestyles.
Here are some fun facts about us that don’t consist of cheat days & chocolate!
- We are plant-based eaters 6 days a week. 🌱🥦
- We were once saved from drifting out to sea by a gracious boatsman on the coast of Massachusetts while Kayaking on a horrifically windy day. (True Story!) ⚓️
- Nate runs marathons with a person best of 2:55 at the 2019 Boston Marathon.🏃♂️
- Pete gets out of uncomfortable conversations by telling people Nate runs marathons therefore drawing attention away from himself and allowing for a subtle yet swift departure. (It works every time!)
In all seriousness, we love making these videos and hope they bring you a little joy and potentially fill any twin eating void you felt was previously absent from your life.

This is why i eye roll at the 24 hours of 48 hours of eating only protein bars, they are so easy to take down and people usually eat like 1,800-3,500 worth of them a day during those challenges.
meanwhile these guys banged out 10k calories each on the highest fiber protein bars out there in 1 sitting lol

I don't think I could get more than two of those down! So much fiber! They used to be my goto until I tried the Outright Bar, particularly the chocolate crisp one. put the quest bars cut up in the oven at 400° for 3-4 minutes, you WILL NOT regret it, chocolate chip cookie dough is the best, but they’re all good!

In the past we experimented with carbonated beverages, and also tried coffee in our Reese’s battle because both are what a lot of other people find helps during these types of meals. However, we’ve found that for us, just a regular glass of water is what works best. We actually found the coffee tactic to be somewhat off putting despite the fact that we do enjoy coffee 🤣🤷♂️

My favorite Quest bar is definitely the lemon cake ones, but as far as in the microwave? I really like the double chocolate chunk and the birthday cake one. I need to try the s'mores one in there too!

As far as savory options, Quest protein chips are pretty bad; HOWEVER, Popcorners Flex protein crisps are delicious with better macronutrient profile too!

Absolutely terrible to be honest 😂😂 the rest of the day wasn’t so bad because we did shoot it later on, so just relaxed after and let the bloating settle down, but the following day brought about some preeeetttty wild digestive discomfort 🤣🤣 let’s just say that we couldn’t stray too far from the bathroom. Probably tmi, but it felt like we’d taken laxatives 😳 lol! This one was a wild ride for sure. Luckily we felt much better then usual with mental clarity! We usually experience some pretty gnarly headaches and brain fog the day following our sugar fueled stunts, so not dealing with that was most certainly appreciated while going through all the digestive issues 🙃

Of all your challenges, I am truly curious to know how you guys felt the day after that one. As much as I love protein bars I can only imagine eating that much protein and fiber in one sitting is a recipe for a massive intestinal disaster. But given you barely drank any water with those bars, I'd guess massive constipation. Ouch.

Out of curiosity are you guys eating it, and keeping it down or bringing it back up. And if you keep it down are you starving for the rest of week
Check out the description box in our most recent video if you’re curious about how we maintain our weight and fitness. Throwing up is certainly not one of those things. A lot of discipline and some basic math (calories in vs calories out) does the trick just fine 🙏 we’re both endurance runners and have a lot of calories to play with. This challenge was only 5k too which isn’t even two days worth of food for us 😆 (we require roughly 3k/day).
Our bigger challenges are a bit different as they’re harder to recover from and require more intention and care (we’re not pros by any means so it’s probably a bit harder on our bodies than theirs.)
For instance, our massive donut challenge worked out something like this: the challenge was 13k calories each, so we subtract roughly 11k cals (from our 21k week) for the challenge (we don’t believe our bodies can store 100% of them) and that leaves us with 10k calories for the rest of the week. The day following something that taxing on the body that pushes our stomach capacities that far, you have absolutely no appetite and so we ate nothing as we had a complete inversion to food. That left us with 10k calories for the next 5 days (2k/day) to structure however we see fit with the demands of our workouts and basic intuition. We ended up fluctuating and eating less on the earlier days according to our appetites, and increasing back up to around 3k before shooting our next challenge 👍 hope that helps.

In short: balanced calories over the entire week.
Caloric deficit=lose weight
Caloric maintenance=stay the same
Caloric surplus=gain weight
We’re extremely active so we require a lot of calories for the full week. We eat like this once a week, then 6 days of significantly lower calories and very few processed foods. Currently gaining some weight as a result of reducing our endurance running significantly and lifting weights to put on some muscle and recover from the demands of that sport though 👍

Totally feel that. While we still do eat in unison and have fun with that being out schtick, we’re actively working on being more comfortable in front of the camera and relaxing with our method quite a bit more. Still may not be your thing but definitely trying to improve/grow and not be so robotic. Thanks for the feedback 👍👍
