Caught a baby in my house, I'm excited lol...
I just caught a little brown one in the backyard. The kids and I are so excited. Thank you for this great video.
lol i found a very light tan colored one at work and scooped it up into a styrofoam cup lol its a male ith wings already so im going to try and give it a life other than eventual decapitation lmao
Just found one today made it a little terrarium I was outside playing guitar when he just started chillin with me
One of my earliest childhood memories is my mother finding one of their cocoons and putting it inside, on our covered porch, I think she wanted to give me a little lesson on nature. The cocoon “hatched” and we had a gazillion teeny little preying mantises all over the porch! I’ve loved them ever since. Yesterday I was spraying a plant I have outside with insecticidal soap - which is a non toxic somewhat effective killer of mealy bugs and aphids and spider mites. Suddenly a preying mantis popped out from under a leaf….I ran and got a spray bottle of distilled water and gave him a little shower, hopefully rinsing any of the insecticidal soap off of him, then put him in another plant. He sat on a petunia flower and preened himself for about a half hour. Seemed like he was ok. I got some great photos.
Just want to add, if you are going to keep one as a pet, get a bigger home for him. If I were a preying mantis, I wouldn’t want to live in that “necklace” aquarium.
This is actually helpful. I've had a bunch of them hatch on my balcony (no idea where they came from), most of them just left, one got eaten by a spider when they were about half a centimeter long, and one is still alive today and measures about 3 cm, hiding among my plants and eating all the bugs she can catch. I always mist the plants with a water spray, so now I know how often I shall do it.
I fed my two inch long green male mantis a spider almost the same size as the mantis first i thought the mantis might die cause i saw the spider making silk the mantis might get trapped but tje skills of a mantis never fails
Thank you for sharing!
I buy them and unleash them in my hibiscus plants they keep off all the bugs and look pretty cool chilling around the garden.
really liked the video helped alot truly thank you mate

Thank you, my last nymph died only three or four days after its birth. I now have 4 egg cases, so I should know more how to raise them from this video.
Very educational. Thank you. I've raised a few that I caught. But I found 3 egg clusters today. WISH ME/ THEM..GOOD LUCK
Did the egg clusters hatch yet? Hope they did well!
Thank you for sharing! Can you make a video on how to take care of a older one! Thanks again! Glad I found your video!! I'm a new subscruber, as soon as I send this out!😀

My cat injured a praying Mantis... and i left it outside but I think it can't walk anymore/. How can I care for it to heal it?
Had 3 egg sacks hatch in the past 2 weeks. Keep about 200 in a tank and released the rest in my bonsai garden
200 HOW
@@Neromacewell I’m estimating there’s a whole bunch that crawl out of each sack. How I got the sacks? I bout 2 online and another at Lowe’s at the time i originally commented. I had since bought another from Lowe’s that was already hatched. After all that I see only a few that actually stuck around from the first batches that are now about 2inches.
@@user-nc8se9in8o -Wow! You could start a home business to help organic gardeners. We never had any in our area that I knew of until a local feed store started selling containers of babies in the spring. Now they are EVERYWHERE!
I am here because I'm in Northwest Montana my snowshoe cats just found one tonight around 9:30 p.m. they are not native to this area. I walk a lot never seen one also know a lot about bugs and no they don't live in Montana I have one just just uploaded a video of it trying to figure out what I need to do to feed it there's a fly inside of its container and I just put a little bit of water obviously they blend into the surroundings because everything is like dry fields and he looks exactly like dry grass. I'm just fascinated thank you I'll probably be watching a lot more because I would like to learn how to actually keep this guy or girl it's probably a girl it is full grown it has wings they're very big and long but I can't tell you I've only watched this video I'm going to watch some more.

SO.... I just caught a baby praying mantis, he's extremely tiny and brown with the long antennas and everything. BUT IT CAN FLY. It has wings!! Can someone please explain how this is scientifically possible? I had a praying mantis before who was bigger but couldn't fly, only jump. How?
I'm raising Mediterranean Mantids from birth. A surprising number of them are dying. I think the problem may be their inability to digest food. One just ate a fly for more than an hour and its abdomen doesn't seem to show any food in it. It's like it's not fully swallowing the fly and can't finish eating it, as if it's like a human being trying to eat a hamburger with no liquid to wash it down. I'm in Las Vegas. They've survived 120 degrees and months without rain. I was told that they didn't need to drink any water because they got enough from their food, so I haven't been giving them any water. They don't seem to be molting as often as I had expected. Could lack of water explain their difficulty molting and swallowing?
You need to mist where they are because they will die.
Oof!
They need a misting every morning , the drink the dew every morning. Not once a week ! And they eat a few fruit flys every other day. You need to keep them fat but not too fat.
Thanks
Thankyou
iam keeping one vietnam mantis, love you video
Awesome info! Thanks! Any plans on making the mantis training videos?

@@johnwaynegovernmentcontrac3219 dude is spamming
Mis info
How?
I named my mantis Bento
I have a green one that’s not very big but he’s not small he’s like medium size. Green mantis from El Paso. What do I fed him I tried baby crickets he dosent not eat
If you can't find any small bugs around your house, or flowers; pet stores carry small types of feeder bugs like fruit flies & mealworms.
I caught an adult mantis
What color is it?
Hi, 1 of my garden pets, mantis has a broken paw. I watched her trying to catch flies but she can't. I am worried she will starve. Can I feed her a different way?
It’s a raptorial arm. Not a paw
@@_doomzday thats probably the least of their worries
my 4 month mantis has not eaten after molt... suggest pls
im guessing you fed it a few days after it molted right
They sometimes don't eat a few days after molting.
Where do you source your flowers? Do you grow them or do you just buy them from the store
I think he takes flowers from the outside. Flowers from the store have no insects crawling on them.
We typically pick them from the side of the road. We're working on a new project for now. It's called the John Wayne's Impossible Groove Machine 😂🤣😅😆 ruclips.net/video/5psoWK7vOq8/видео.html
@@LuminaNinetales sometimes they do. i consider a bonus if they have tjem lol
@@LuminaNinetales - True, because of insecticides! Many flowers from the store might have insecticides & fertilizers which can be toxic to bugs and even you!
I caught a big praying mantis, it came in with my indoor plant,I have feeding it cooked shrimp 🍤..I put the shrimp on a toothpick and wiggle it like an insects..I never gave any water..it got water from the juicy shrimp.
That's awesome!
They really eat shrimp?

best pets for cannabis growers XD
there are no flowers outside. WHAT DO I DO THERES NO FRUIT FLIES OR FLIES OR ANTS OR SPIDERS
You can get small bugs for feeding from a pet store or an animal feed store.
What if the water droplets dry out after a day? Do I have to mist again?
Yes

In a week. They don't need to drink every day.
It's winter no flowers
Praying mantids hatch in March / June , the ones in my incubator hatched yesterday , and I sped up the hatching process by giving them optimal condition.
If you can't find any small bugs outside, pet stores and animal feed stores can carry small bugs like fruit flies & others for feeding.
Could I just damp a price of paper towel and put that in the inclosure?
It also work.

Underrated
I love it!
What water can it drink if i don't have water from plants
Tap water, spring water. Any water really.
Any water they are bugs. We use a,mister and spray one to 2 sprays to get water droplets
I caught one from the wild. I am feeding it a lemon.
A lemon? It eats it?

This was rated thumbs down because you didnt talk about how many times a dayand how much to feed them. And misting them more often is actually important for the humidity so that they can molt. Biggest threats and most common deaths are from dehydration and bad molting.
Chill Out
....ok
