I was so excited when the Broncos picked him up and sad when he left. I don’t know why the coach tried to change his style when he was clearly the best punter in the league, like just let the man do his thing.

As a Raider fan I loved Marquette King. He did some hilarious shit in addition to dropping punts into cans.
I hope he is living life to the fullest and wish him nothing but the best.
Hope hes broke.
I bet if Al Davis was still alive that man would still be a raider to this day.
Without a doubt. Al Davis loved guys with swagger and attitude, he would get along with him
Not if they caused more problems than points OR when they turn against the Raiders while still on the team and buddy up with a Bronco who was notorious for attacking the Raiders.
Y'all must be thinking of a different Al Davis than I remember.
Nah, Al Davis didn't play that shit. The moment he took that pic with Talib, Al would have shipped him off before he could blink.
@Johnny Daniels the Chargers are terrible at having fans at home/away games soooo....🤷♂️

That "Hit Dem Folks" with the flag is legend. Makes me smile every time I see it.
I went to college with him, he was cool as hell man. Never thought he would have hit those heights, we was kids then. But it was fun seeing him live his dream
I was a kohl’s kicker Invitee. I saw him punting in person at my tryouts. Right after he left FVSU.
Absolutely had no other comparison before seeing his bombs. First time witnessing Unbelievable height and hang time. I was mind blown. he really put in the extra work. the core power he had, and the fluidity in his technique was next level. In my eyes. The Ken Griffey jr. swings of punting. Since Marquette. Kickers have been much bigger
Ken Griffey Jr is a great comparison 💪💥
I remember when him and Pat played each other the commercials hyped up the “Punter matchup” probably the only time in history.
That was a Godly year for special teams
Hekker is better

I think that it was cool having his energy on the special teams in the same way it was exciting to have Deion sanders or Devon Hester on the ST, we don’t wanna waste time during plays to watch a WR desire attention but when it’s a dry part of the game it’s always fun to have someone bring big energy.
Did you really compare a punter to Primetime? The disrespect
That last line was a cold and spot on analysis. We know so many "self-made" people like this. Built themselves up well, but can't mesh well with others.
It’s very rare when you can actually recall the name of a punter, he’s one of the few modern punters that I’ve actually seen (and own) a card of.
@ladawg81 any football fan should at least be able to recall johnny hekker
@ladawg81 yeah I’d say if anyone is going to remember a punter it at least should be one of the Colquitts. Having a father and his two sons all be punters and champions is pretty crazy imo.
I've got a Reggie Roby card. Excellent punter in the 80's/90's with Miami. He made the 80's all-decade team and one of only a handful of black kickers as well. Sadly, he died back in 2005.
Pat Mcafee
Not really
Met the dude once at 24 hour fitness . He was still practicing punting . Raquette ball court kicking into the corner of the room . It was 9 pm . After a raiders practice . Dedicated to practicing and getting better. Asked him about his 40 yard dash and college . He was chill. He was a character that Grudens ego didn’t want to compete with . That’s my theory as to why he’s not a raider once gruden took over
Gruden is the reason he’s out the league. Jon didn’t like his personality and blackballed him. How such a bs artist as gruden has so much weight is beyond me.

that last statement was deep to sum it up.
I still believe race played a factor, as arguably a white punter would have got free passes, media support, and praised for his unique style.
I only with dude understood what would keep him on that field getting checks, stamp their all-time record books with his name and punting til 50 years old (lol).
It could have set a new trend for inner city black kids in football, like tiger in golf, and the williams' in tennis...but it's football so it's much easier to practice this.
Like flem lo said tho, lots of inner city kids are poor and football is expensive. Even more expensive to put the extra work in (camps, pads, other gear etc.)
I'm sorry, but the race excuse in the NFL is just fucking asinine of you ask me. You can either play or you can't. To suggest organisations would jeopardize success only to want a white guy at certain positions while it's fine if they (black players) dominate other positions is just so far fetched. The more likely reason is that these organizations do their due diligence and judge if someone is an asset to the team or not period. A former black teammate said he wasn't liked for example. We are ignorant to all the reasons but race is not likely one of them.
It was his arrogance not race in this respect. He wasn't liked for trying to shine off of someone else especially someone on his team. Arrogance will always be a downfall. Before talent people have to be able to trust you.
He was one of the few punters that is known beside by team’s fan . He made punting/kicking look cool and always one of the few athletic kickers
