Another excellent gem from the Seekers, probably rarely, if ever, played on radio stations in the USA. Without RUclips, great songs like this would probably never have been heard by many folks, at all.
we are so lucky that although she is gone. we can still enjoy here gift. She had an amazing voice right until the end, she has been a part of my life, and will be saadly missed. We will never know how much she had left to give,
Nice cover of a great Ian Tyson song. I love the harmonies and simple instrumental. I'd say I wish folk music would make a comeback, but I never stopped listening to it.
Nice song, with a wistful arrangement. One of the strengths of The Seekers is variety. They don't depend entirely on Judith, wonderful as she is, to take the lead. Bruce, and occasionally Keith, can do it effectively too. Although a great soloist, Judith shows her skill as a very good harmony singer here. I saw them in May 2014, and these four septuagenarians had lost nothing in 50 years. They will never be equalled.
The Seekers never cover any other group ( including Beatles, or Peter, Paul and Mary, etc) . What the Seekers do is to give their ow version, which usually is better than the original one in view the unique combination of harmonies with Judith´s extraordinary voice.

Interestingly Bruce's voice here is much like that of Ian Tyson ... The song has been done in the style of Ian & Sylvia without it being simply a cover ... they add their own flair. My guitar teacher said to me whilst learning "that's not the way X does it" ... I'd say I know ... If I want to listen to it the way X does it, then I'll listen to X! And that's what's happened here. They've carried the wistful nature of the song without being a complete cover.
I would love to be able to sing like Judith but .................... Anyway, I love singing along, when I am all by myself so I thought I would help those of us who love doing that ...... so ...... Four strong winds that blow lonely, Seven seas that run high, All those things that don't change, Come what may. But our good times are all gone, And I'm bound for moving on. I'll look for you if I'm ever back this way. Think I'll go out to Alberta, Weather's good there in the fall. Got some friends that I can go to working for. But I wish you'd change your mind, If I asked you one more time But we've been through that a hundred times or more. Four strong winds that blow lonely, Seven seas that run high, All those things that don't change, Come what may. But our good times are all gone, And I'm bound for moving on. I'll look for you if I'm ever back this way. If I get there before the snow flies, And if things are looking good. You can meet me if I send you down the fare, But by then it would be winter, not too much for you to do. And the wind sure blows cold way out there. Four strong winds that blow lonely, Seven seas that run high, All those things that don't change, Come what may. But our good times are all gone, And I'm bound for moving on. I'll look for you if I'm ever back this way...
@@billstonesmith9231 - Hi. It was written by Ian Tyson, a Canadian, who recorded it with his wife Sylvia. Neil Young recorded a terrific version on his Comes a Time album.
Every Canadian vocalist worth his or her salt has taken a cut at this Ian Tyson classic. Did the Seekers become honorary Canadians after cutting this track.
Small point, but bravo to the Seekers for singing "... looking good" in place of the original, grammatically grating "going good." Beyond that, gorgeous harmony from one of my favorite folk groups of all time.
i like to thank the person who like this comment too. But went he died only the canadian news said anything about him not even the american news ever talked about his death at all and not even the AMA say anything about him too
@@larryvermeer6170 Hi Larry--Ian & Sylvia were really folk musicians during the early 60's folk revival. Country artists picked up a number of their songs, which I think they welcomed, but I wouldn't really call them country. Some of their best songs: Someday Soon (there's a nice Judy Collins version) and You Were on My Mind.
"Four strong winds... Seven seas that run high -- All those things that don't change come what may." But the winds and seas ARE changing and always have. The winds are growing stronger and the seas are running higher. Climate change.
Beautiful still years later, but these tearjerker songs are not for me. Enough depressing situations without some group promoting our lives. A good bluegrass song, sousa march or anything by verdi or gilbert and sullivan is my choice. Again, a fine song with upbeat lyrics is even better.
Another excellent gem from the Seekers, probably rarely, if ever, played on radio stations in the USA. Without RUclips, great songs like this would probably never have been heard by many folks, at all.
Lived in Utah and Idaho USA as a teenager. Never heard of the Seekers or Judith Durham until April 5, 2021. Fifty years wasted. Love this song.
How can anyone not appreciate the talent, longevity, and appeal of the seekers. I'm not Australian, but when I listen to the Seekers, I wish I was.
Thank you! Come visit, say next April or May should be good weather!

Just WONDERFUL ! Perfection in art. The Seekers were one of the best band ever and this is also the best version of this romantic Canadian folk song
Absolutely delightful , that's a really good song, great lyrics ... and it goes without saying that The Seekers make a great job of it.
Good job, love the Seekers.
The Seekers Succeeded To find My Heart...I Shall Always Love their Songs...
This song was also sung by the brothers four, they both do a wonderful job. Thanks
A great group singing a great song by a great song writer. Ian Tyson is from my part of Canada. He's legendary as an entertainer in our country.
Ian and Sylvia did a wonderful rendition of this. I still have their album.
my friend am from canada too but never heard of Ian Tyson at all

"They will never be equalled" : so true ! (but also sad)
What a crock of shit you talking just enjoy it instead of trying to pull it apart.
Much love to all of you

In their stage show all of the boys took the lead of a song or sang as Judith took a short break.
Imagine ,having Judith Durham singing harmony . How many groups can brag about that. The whole group had great talent.
Brilliant music ... Seekers forever.
Original singers were Ian and Sylvia (Canadian folk duo, Ian Tyson - who wrote the song - and his wife). Been covered by many others....
I like how "the Boys" have the lead on this song.
Wow, thank you. It's been a long time since I've heard this song, one of my favorites. How wonderful to hear it by The Seekers.
They are singing about Albeta Canada here too
Beautiful rendition of this song. I remember them from my college days in the sixties.
You just will neverget another singer like Judith she had a beautifull voice

Beautiful song. Never gets old.
I have always thought this song is my song. Right now, even more.
One of my first albums I ever bought. Great to hear The Seeker's version again.
I love the bass vocal in this song.
Good Judith is fantastic and what a voice!
It was recordings like this that inspired me to buy my 12-string guitar back in the '60's.
Lovely song. The lads were great too.
💞 Great cover....love this version!👍💞
This is the definitive cover - never found another one that comes even close to theirs ❤
Bruce provides a nice contrast on the songs where he is the lead. A talent in his own right.
Marvellous version. Bobby Bare sounds great as well.
Marvellous harmonious song.
When the Lord made Judidth, he reached the pinnacle of human creation.
also the lads are great !
She is a fine vocalist, but that is really going a little too far.
well said
Love it!
Best of the best. I was in the 3rd grade when I started loving the seekers.

To Janet, I know when I purchased the seekers' LP I would be living in Australia
Judith is so close to perfect that I think she is actually an angel.
Yes...if perfect does exist, she's it, no question about it!
I've always wanted to hear the Seekers, and Judith do another Ian Tyson tune, "Someday Soon".
Athol Guy sang bass as well as he played it
And he sure knew how to do both!
Really nice song , well sung.

I agree totally with the view below. I could not have put it better myself. Treasures they are.

I'm Canadian. Ian Tyson sung this song the best but the Seeker's version is a close 2nd
Bruce Woodley does a great job at lead

Yes, Judith Durham has got a terrific voice, but here it is Bruce Woodley who shines, right?
I FULLY AGREE. HE ALSO WROTE PART OF THE GREAT SONG: " I AM AUSTRALIAN... "
janbohme I love the seekers.
Did the Spinners, the Liverpool folk group record this?
:)))

Good, but I prefer the Chad Mitchell trio version!
It's a breakup song. This is way too sugarry sweet. Best done solo with an appropriate backup if necessary...harmony seems out of place.
without judith they were pretty average group she was good

Even with her voice, she wasn't as exceptional without the lads. Together they were wonderful, excellent.
@@donnaking5517 she should have stuck with the band
As much as I love the Seekers, Bruce Woodley is a really boring singer
Great song by The Seekers , the song also sung by The Searchers
