I've been a Volbeat fan since they came out and when they released this album and saw they had KD on a song I geeked out just like you did since I'm also a huge fan of King- I even have a cat named Abigail. 🤘🏼 In the first few seconds watching thr video and you made no mention of KD being on the track I was like I don't think he realizes King is on this track, he is in for a big surprise😬! LoL You had the same kind of reaction I did when back in the day I had just gotten Guitar Hero 3 playing along the career mode or whatever it was and you played Evil while an animated King sang the vocals! I'm going to see Mercyful Fate this Friday and I couldn't be more excited!
AB, here: Yeah, I enjoyed it. 🙂I was nervous, too, though. This was almost like a kid-on-Christmas feeling; I even got up extra early before work. I have to give my own thanks to Drescher1984, who mentioned this song on the Devil's Bleeding Crown reaction. That's how I found out you're a King Diamond fan, and I knew this song had to get in the mix. I mentioned KD with the request, but in fairness that was a little while back. Maybe the shirt was meant to be.
No worries on the score from me. I figured this wouldn't be in the 9s anyway. Hell, I even wondered if it does indeed feel a little monotonous by about the three-minute mark (as much as I love it). I do like to follow the nuances in the drumming, and I like that the mini guitar solos are each different.
Learning more about the Mercyful Fate influence was cool; I'll have to check out the songs you mentioned. And I'm looking forward to the next couple of Volbeat reactions. Thanks very much, David!
I became a fan of Volbeat after seeing their show opening for Metallica during the Hardwired tour back in 2017.

Believe it or not, it really was a coincidence. I film 8 episodes on filming days. You can check the episodes before and after this one, and you'll see I'm wearing the same shirt. Seriously I just grab a shirt, put it on, and start filming.

I've listened to MF for years, on/off, and even KD when he went solo. Comparing the two, I prefer MF. And yes, KD does have that signature vocal style you can ID in a few seconds. With this song, I really liked the mix between the 2 singers, and the song beat itself seemed more like a MF song. I might have to check this out further...............

Hello again. This is only Volbeat song what i can listening. It is horrible band but this song rocks. Do you wanna quess why...? You can hear this song at 80's King Diamond and also King Diamond Voodoo album. Great song writing at Volbeat guys to respect King Diamond.
