  • How to change oil for beginners on a nice and simple Ford Fiesta 1.25 Litre Mk7 engine.
It is very straight forward as long as you have all the parts and tools ready.
You will need to jack the car up and place on Axle Stands to get underneath.
Remove the oil filler cap and dip stick.
Place a bucket under the oil sump and remove the sump plug with a 13mm socket and breaker bar.
Let the Oil drain into the bucket.
Remove the Oil filter with a filter removal tool.
Wipe the interface on the car.
With some clena oil, prime the mating ring on the new Oil Filter and screw into place.
Insert new Sump plug and tighten to 28nm 21lbft with a torque wrench.
Fill with 3/75 litre of new 5W50 Ford Engine Oil.
Check the level on the dipstick and enjoy some smooth driving!
    Parts are:
    Bosch F026 407 078 Filter
    Sump plug
    5W 30 Synthplus Ford Oil.
    Tools are:
    Axle stands
    Jack
    13mm socket

Thank you Andy, why hire a mechanic for a lot of money when you can do it yourself for maybe half the price. 🙂

not bad cars tbh for what they are. They do lack power especially with AC on but thats to be expected ig, the 1.25 its a tough little engine but bad on fuel very thirsty. However im not a fan of the IB5 Gearbox on these, not clear if they are meant to be serviced ppl liek to claim the oil is for the lifetime, but no oil lasts forever. Mine developed a gearbox leak and now i cant put new oil in the gearbox since the fill bolt has sheered and stripped.

I get around 380 miles out of it which isn't too bad, but you have to drive very gently. I

I called some dealers and i checked some forum, 2 Ford dealers said i should us 5w20 Castrol and 1 Ford dealer told me i should use 5w30......
On the forums i got the same result, half of the people recommended 5w20 and the other half 5w30...
WTF should i do and why are people saying different things?? 😵

A quick update on the oil grades. On the “5W” bit, that is how well the oil flows at lower temps in winter. The lower the number, the easier it flows in the cold. The 2nd number is how easy it flows at normal engine temperature. Not seen a 20 before but my thoughts at the manual says 5W30 so I’m going with that. 👍

@@andycharger Thanks for the reply! Maybe i need 5w20 because it's a duratec engine? i don't know im pretty clueless right now 🤣

@@LikaPyramid I looked on another guide and looks like it takes both quite happily provided it’s the Ford spec, that should be fine 👍

@@andycharger Okay that's very interesting! i guess that 5w20 is better for the winter and 5w30 is better for the summer?
