Clicked on this video thinking it was from some 100k sub razbuten type RUclipsr and shocked to see a small RUclipsr of just under 200 subs. Amazing work

I absolutely love Ico. I actually played it right after I finished Shadow of the Colossus without knowing it’s a spiritual successor so I immediately saw the similarities and got so excited thinking it was a sneaky homage or Easter egg. One of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had in gaming

I played "ICO" when it first came out & I remember how I couldn't stop thinking about it long after finishing the game. Fumito Ueda knows how to tell a story without telling you everything about the story. You are forced to some extent to use your own imagination to fill in the gaps. And that's why his games continue to be played, discussed, scrutinized, studied, many years after there initial release. Of course this holds most true with "Shadow Of The Colossus", but all of his games leave you thinking about what you just experienced.

Just wanted to say, I really enjoyed this video! I knew nothing about Ico heading into this, but I liked the analysis here. The overall vibe of the video compliments the game well. Good job!

Really fascinating video, can’t even count the amount of times I’ve wanted to reexperience a game for the first time but I’ve never seen anyone actually try to follow through with that. There’s few games that I hold more respect for than Ico, really cool to see it analyzed through this lens. Great work!!

I love finding some one speak on a game that they truly feel passionate about. This was very well done. I hope you continue speaking on games that you appreciate on this level. I think you will find success for the channel and in my experience it makes the process so much more enjoyable.

Great video! It’s funny though, I ended up having an entirely different philosophy about replaying ICO. I constantly replay, and I’ve learned as much as I can about the speedrun strats to get me through the castle. I know it like the back of my hand now. I return to ICO on an almost weekly basis because it’s my comfort game. I never grow bored of it, especially because I keep finding those new things to appreciate.
I just recently found out they programmed the boxes so that they can break small wooden barrels into bits if they fall onto them, even though you’d have to go out of your way for that situation to ever occur. They really packed this game with detail, and that’s my replay value. It’s never the first playthrough again, but somehow playthrough #4,521 isn’t any lesser for me.

the way you spoke of ICO reminds me of the impact Nier automata and later Replicant had on me. It was also a game I often found myself taking in the surroundings and sounds too. Highly recommend if you haven't played those games yet. They can be played in any order and automata probably better to play first as the more modern game.

My all time favorite game(s) is a three way tie between ICO, SoTC, and DMC1. In my eyes each exemplifies a core function of videogames at its purist level:
ICO: basis for forming attachment to/between characters
SoTC: basis for boss design and making the world into a living breathing character
DMC1: basis for combat and difficulty mechanics
I was introduced to these games at different stages of my life with DMC1 being my earliest at 7, while ICO and SoTC came into my life in undergrad. I can play any one of these games and be transported to any period of my life and they always feel like home to me.

i love this game it is art, art often is edgy not every one likes, this is the definition of art. this is one of the reasons why I am on playstation platform and not on anything else, you woun't find this art anywhere else ❤
