It isn't to say you're wrong in what you mean, but I think it would be more apt to say that BG3 is the development of isometric CRPGs into a more casual, mechanics-light form. It (and the DOS games) are doing for isometric RPGs what Skyrim and Fallout 4 did for FPS/RPGs like Morrowind. Whether or not that's a good thing depends on what you like.
Yeah I was having trouble wording that sentence. When I said 'old Bioware RPGs' what I really meant was Dragon Age and Mass Effect (the og trilogy). CRPGs at heart, but with a cinematic experience. P.S. Your comment is delightfully well written. Ty!
well, stop trusting AAA Companys and stop preordering their games and they will learn, but learning this, will be hard for nostalgia gamers who fall for diablo 4 ^^
This. I haven't preordered a game since Darktide. Given how other developers have chimed in saying that BG3 is an exception and we shouldn't expect the same from AAA games, I think the industry is at a tipping point. Well, one would hope at least
man, darktide was fucking awesome, until i got the best rolls on my vet build. im 300 hours into DT. it is a good game, if u ignore all the shit u can buy to make you look different
Yeah don't get me wrong, I love the game! You just don't get that fatshark style combat anywhere else. It's just everything outside the gameplay that made me kinda burnout on it
Larian is one of the last great developers. CDPR used to be before Cyberpunk. Super hyped for BG3

Given the size of early access, you could almost view the chapters as analogous to new games, where your choices and progression caries over

I didn't touch Diablo 4 because you could taste it would be shit... but BG3 I bought it because it's very much up my alley.

As a 4e fan... I disagree about 5e being good lol but I also only played based 5e.
