    Doing fantastic - keep it up Arch. This was a fun episode as you consolidated your position into a more secure one after the first episode's rush and climb and bounty. Time to watch the next one :). There is a river cave near the birch forest that would have been a nice spot for the fire. I think I might be the only one that ever visits that cave heh. Hoping for a good sequence of afflictions.

      Oh, good thought! I use that cave if I need an outdoor bed near Thompson's, very handy. Too bad the bed is in the back where it's off limits this run :(

    Your still doing well all things considering, the weather looks a lot like Deadworld, changes so fast, and your "one quiet night" of sleep in three way was a TLD blessing, but the best part was the, "No No No" to the moose. Keep on surviving Arc, you got this

    I love these ultra difficulty series. I lve learned a lot and just hit my first 50 days in interloper. Its not much, but just like stalker its starting to feel a little easy. I can tell long term interloper will be a resource struggle though. I think I just need to migrate more, but the wolves are so brutal in this mode

      Thanks! I love the difficulty cycle, one mode starts to feel a little too comfortable and we move up to the next one :) Looking for that survival struggle.

    I can't imagine surviving past Broken Body

      It will be interesting to see. Most difficulties get easier in the lategame, but Broken Body is a pretty nasty affliction.

    Silly question, but where do you cure your saplings, if you can't go inside anywhere?? Transition caves?? Mic sounds great again.

    • @ArchimedesLP
      @ArchimedesLP  2 месяца назад +2

      Not a silly question at all! I can stand on the cold front side of caves and drop the saplings, then right-click move them onto the back side of the cave where they will cure(hopefully without stepping over the line myself, although this is tricky since I can't see it.)

    Hope we don't get Haunted Mind as our 2nd affliction :P
    Also did you consult Bashrobe's loot tables spreadsheet? It's interesting to see how you magically know to not check bedroll spawns in PV/WR and seem to be sure that there will be a bedroll in ML. I suppose this level of optimisation is needed if you're really going for the 0 "hours indoors".

    • @ArchimedesLP
      @ArchimedesLP  2 месяца назад +1

      I did consult it, but during this episode I still wasn't sure if the bedroll was in ML or WR. I already knew the bedroll can't be in PV due to arcane knowledge(related to hacksaw spawns) and the decision not to go to WR is more of a "hope for the best" situation. After the test run through the mine here I'm not even sure the run could support the WR detour on 0 hours indoors anyway, thanks to the reduced maximum sprint.
      By the start of the next episode I think I "know" the location of the bedroll but I haven't made it to ML yet and I'm half expecting to find out I got it wrong. If the bedroll isn't there it's not a run-ender I don't think, I can sleep at the forge and then go to BI(although if I miss the 75% there it'd be a rough return and wait for bearskins!)
      I think you're right that the "0 indoors" to a certain extent "justifies" the use of loot tables but to be honest the main reason is I just don't have the recording time to devote to starting over and over again until I get my tools(this is the same reason I decided to push for the TWM matches, as rerolling for the 1 in 8 hacksaw start was very quick compared to rerolling starts for RNG matches in PV.)

    • @gotmilkanot
      @gotmilkanot 2 месяца назад

      @@ArchimedesLP It's all good, I'm not strongly against using loot tables - due to e.g. lack of IRL time as you mentioned - though doing so might have removed half the early game challenge of this mode (which may be undesirable if you're looking for a challenge).
      Anyway, just for reference - my "hours indoors" ticked to 1 after *walking* through PV-WR (back and forth) and PV-CH transitions. 0 "hours indoors" is doable with sprint/tap sprint but I'm not sure if you can still pass through MT-HRV transition (back and forth) after that.

    • @ArchimedesLP
      @ArchimedesLP  2 месяца назад +1

      @@gotmilkanot Yeah I think it's 5 minutes total. I already recorded the next episode and in that I mention that I probably won't risk using any more transitions(except maybe to the far territories?)
      My strategy with the loot tables is a bit unorthodox... it's not really that I know exactly where everything will be, I just have a little extra information about what's worth checking. For example a bedroll in PV means a bedroll in ML, so I don't bother checking PV(except the spawn I walked right by.) It's the same 50% chance as for you to get a bedroll in PV/WR in your runs but I'm eliminating the indoor time of the WR transition(and a lot of time checking spawns in PV.) Although ML is a bit further away so that brings its own challenge.

    • @gotmilkanot
      @gotmilkanot 2 месяца назад

      @@ArchimedesLP Well, just knowing whether there is a bedroll in PV based on hacksaw spawns (which I presume is knowledge from loot tables) is a very powerful piece of information IMO. I strongly believe many (including myself) would've ended up losing their runs in PV after attempting to find a bedroll there (and/or WR) and not finding one :)
      Nothing against you for using loot tables, I guess I was just hoping to see someone pull off a 0 "hours indoors" run without all this extra loot table knowledge.

    • @ArchimedesLP
      @ArchimedesLP  2 месяца назад +1

      @@gotmilkanot Hmm I get your point but I'm not sure it affected my play. Like if I didn't have that knowledge(but knew the general chances) I don't think I would cart all over PV to check 2 unlikely spawn points instead of just going to ML where the bedroll usually is(and then BI if that fails.)
      In other words, I made a decision that was based on "hours indoors", not loot tables. Even if I *knew* the bedroll was in WR I wouldn't go for it, now that I see the limitations on sprinting through transitions in Misery.

  • @SlippedGear

    Stims in Misery probably won't be as useful as one might think.

    • @ArchimedesLP
      @ArchimedesLP  2 месяца назад

      True, although I typically use them to climb for "free" and that's particularly useful in this strict version of Outer. The transition caves from ML->MT and BI->FM are off limits and the climbs I'll have to take instead can be expensive.

    • @SlippedGear
      @SlippedGear 2 месяца назад

      @@ArchimedesLP That makes me curious if the stims no longer work for healing, perhaps they will still function for the stamina boost for climbing/running? I heard that after the healing of the birch bark teas no longer works, they will still be craftable and usable for warmth bonuses and calories, which is still pretty useful.

    • @ArchimedesLP
      @ArchimedesLP  2 месяца назад

      @@SlippedGear I think so! Although I would still try to use them in advance, 3 BBT worth of healing is nice, and the extra energy matters more in the early game during setup when trying to move around the map looting and crafting before the worse afflictions set in.

    • @SlippedGear
      @SlippedGear 2 месяца назад

      @@ArchimedesLP Well depending on your priorities, you are bound to find a stim or 2 after the healing is eliminated, unless you specifically seek them all out before 47. But you will probably want to be settled into a pretty set routine by then in order to maintain your condition. I think someone said even sprains after 47 will take small amounts of health and whittle away at the condition bar, so crampons will be a must after that. I have heard some reputable sources say the improvised crampons are better than the ones you found due to a bug in the coding. But I don't know how "in the weeds" so to speak you want to get with the min/maxing.

    • @Noxen74

      The joint affliction does 2% damage to you when you get any sprain, broke body just doubles that damage to 4

    What's your best case scenario affliction order here? SS, RJ, FB, HM?

    • @ArchimedesLP
      @ArchimedesLP  2 месяца назад +1

      Roughly this, yes! SS seems a minor annoyance. I'd probably reverse FB and HM(not that it matters since I think you get the last 2 at the same time, but to better show my preference if they show up in a different order.) Once I have decent clothing I'll avoid a lot of the health loss from cold(FB kinda ruins this) and a lot of health recovery comes from BBT, so HM isn't as big of a deal.)
