for those who are wondering if the game was cancelled, no it was not, but according to an insider I have, more precisely what happened is that the person responsible for creating CrimsonEngine does not want to continue, AStartShow is dropped to continue the game develop alone and switching to another engine, and as he only has knowledge of PixelArt in general he is doing everything himself, so it's very likely that a next demo won't come anytime soon.
I wonder if the original developer felt the Sonic Mania art style got to overly ambitious. That's one of the very few Sonic fan games that used the Mania style, and I imagine that amount of detail could be very taxing.
This looks and sounds superb! Chaos was my favorite game on GG back in the day. I really hope we get to play this remake eventually. Thanks for the upload!

So I actually still have a Sega Game Gear which sadly died, but one of the games I have for it was Sonic Chaos which I beat multiple times. Now I have it on PC for Kega Fusion 3.64 so I can still play it without a Sega Game Gear just using a Sega Game Gear emulator. I love where this game here is going and love to see it completed and released some day although I know it wouldn't play on my PC as I'm sadly still stuck on Windows 7 with no way to upgrade due to financial issues :-(. This does though look bloody fantastic.
Combine both sonic and tails together ala triple trouble remake and try to do something for knuckles. Maybe have sonic and tails have or start with a emerald too. Maybe keep the 50 rings and you enter the special stage if the last thing works. Or maybe boost it to 100 rings if you keep or don't start with a emerald
