I agree with the smiles on a hard tail! I bought an off the shelf Giant to see what riding a hardtail was all about and it is a total blast. It made me feel like a kid again.
Very nice vid. A friend of mine converted his for gravel/road duties and got the wieght down to 9 kg with some lightweight alloy wheels, 32c tires, and a rigid carbon fork. It rides so smooth and fast, it could even keep up with roadbikes but he changed his chainring to 46t. Im thinking of doing something similar.
Great video, really accurate with the upgrades, i own a c5 and also upgrade the wheelset, as you say day and night 🤘🏼great frame, very responsive uphill and down
Hi Mike! Have you found a way to route a dropper post cable through the frame?? I wonder if there's anyway to use the channel for the front derailleur somehow...
No. You have to go external unless you drill out the FD port. I put a camera in the bottoms bracket and ran it up the down tube. It is all glued in housing runs.
Why is this bike so heavy?! My old Gary Fisher with an aluminum frame weighed about this much and it was an air sprung 29er 3x9. My old trek carbon race bike weighs about 23-24lbs and it is also 3x9.
Tapered headtube, 120mm travel, 44mm offset. If you get a tapered headtube and keep it at 120mm of travel the geometry of the bike will stay really close even if you don’t keep the same offset. Also boost spacing.
@@GambleAdventures that is up to the rider. Just make sure you get one that hasn’t been cut or is well over 7 inches to make sure you can cut it down to the rider preference.
Upgraded to a Sid on my Syncline as well. Offset went from 42 to 44 and the rotor isn't lining up with the brake pads. I see you were putting up the brake on without the adapter that came on it, think that's allI need to do? Did your offset change?
The sid is made for a 180mm rotor and the stock recon is made for a 160mm rotor. So on the recon you needed the 20mm adapter on the sid you won’t need it with the stock 180mm rotor.
@@RunBikeMike Much appreciated. I've loved the Hunt wheels as well. Those are on my list for next year. What was the clearance like on the frame when you put the 2.35 specialized tires on the stock wheels? And were the wheels already set up with the red tape that was ok for a tubeless set up? That's my next step.
@@joeyb9314 you should be fine with that tire size on the stock rims. That red tape I found is not tubeless. I would suggest getting some actual tubeless tape. The hunt wheels are awesome I am hoping to get the Race XC wheels for it before a bike race I have in the fall.
I just purchased the large c3. I'm 5'10", 30" inseam. The bike may be a touch too big for me. How tall are you? I think I'm not used to the new geometry as well.
I no longer own this bike. Since have moved to the Marin Team 2 and also the Superior Issue R. But for the value this bike offers it is a super fun bike.

That sounds like a fun build for sure.
looking forward to long term thoughts, great bike mod review details and ride comments!!...kudos to the graphics designer!
i recently for some ground control T7 and they're nice! rolls fast with good grip.

Great looking bike 🤙🏾 like the tires 😍🤩
4:58 man, I did not have luck with that brand when dialing it in with the deore or slx Groupsets. Did it work ok with you?
So far it seems ok. Only time will tell.
Very nice. Do you have a link to that remote lockout for the sid? How’s is working?
Here’s a link amzn.to/3TmlgAh
Do more of these… very good!
Thanks

Very nice upgrades. I like the SID. split crown race all the way for easy maintenance and switch over.
Why go with hunt trail wide over the xc version on a microspline hub ? I would have ditched the centre lock rotors to 6 bolt also .
I could be wrong but I believe he had the trail wides from a previous build.
you got new sub here, nice bikeeee
Thx 👍🏻
What are specs for the new fork? Off set and what not? Essentially what do I need to look when I get a new fork for the C3?
