At 14:53 you connect the right cables of the decoder to the left turnout and the left cables of the decoder to the right turnout. Is there a special reason or you are doing it for ease of connection? Thank you.
Hi John, This is to make sure that the decoder shifts the correct turnout mechanism to go it the desired direction through the 3-way turnout. This way around also matches the turnout diagram on the CS3. If you swap them then the turnout will activate the turnout mechanisms in the opposite way. Hence, when you select go left on the CS3, then it i will set the turnout for going left. Enjoy ;-)
Thanks! I will look at the shadow station in the Automation series - unfortunately it will be some time in the future as we still need to look at the basics and the m87. Enjoy ;-)
Just purchased my first Marklin set from Reynaulds. Am expecting it in a few days. I plan to purchase more, but I would like to know the size of the layout you created on your video. Would it fit on a 4x8 table? Thanks again. I really enjoyed and appreciated your videos. I happen to live in Austin, TX.
Hi Jerry, congratulations with your first set - hope you will like it and enjoy it for many years! My table is 2x1.2m which is approx 6.6x3.9ft. Enjoy ;-) Bo
Glad you like the video! The yellow wire of the decoder is to be able to power from an alternate power supply. Märklin turnout decoders allow you to power from an alternate power supply, so you can save precious track power. Enjoy ;-)
Hi Iron Magnus, I have not tried it, but according to the Märklin website you mount two Märklin 74470 lanterns. I can see that the Märklin 74471 are also compatible, so you can use either depending on the desired light. The manual for Märklin 24630 does not show how to install: static.maerklin.de/damcontent/88/47/8847cb1c965ae4f7f14a66b333d47f561674029586.pdf However, looking at the Märklin 24630 3-way turnout to me it looks like it is mounted as for the normal turnouts. The 3-way turnout is essentially just two normal turnouts compressed in a small space. Be careful when you mount the lights and according to the instructions you should not remove the cover to the mechanisms as this is very difficult to re-assemble. Unfortunately I have not gotten around to make a video showing how to do this, but consult the manual for lanterns for installation: static.maerklin.de/damcontent/a5/ea/a5eab7c51052ff106e01df0fba0f4c661583241716.pdf Hope this helps! Enjoy ;-) Bo
Hi, I do not have any any idea if it is going to be made - I did not find anything hinting that it is planned :-( I might me wrong as I normally do not follow the Trix C-track world. However, great to see that the slim double crossing is planned. Enjoy ;-) Bo
Hi Jean-Jacques, I do not have a 5214 myself. However, the M83 - both the black (60832) and white (60831) edition supports a three-way turnout. You have to program the M83 to have the three-way either on connectors 1+2 or 3+4. To set connectors 1+2 to a three-way turnout you must set CV34=1. For 3+4 set CV35=1. If you do not know the state of your M83 decoder consider giving it a reset first using CV8=8. The M83 is programmed in the same way as the M84. You can see this in the video on how the M84 is programmed for independent light groups. Use the theme method - just change CV34 or CV35 (after an optional reset). See here: ruclips.net/video/eo65jHaoWqE/видео.html As I understand it you should be able to connect the 5214 directly to the M83. Please double verify with somebody that has tried it with any M-track turnout. Looking at pictures for the 5214 three-way turnout I see there are the following wires to one side: 1 yellow & two blue. On the other side two blue. Assuming Märklin is consistent with their wire-coloring I would connect the wires as for the 74490. If you are using 1+2 connect yellow + 2 blue to connector 1 and the two others to connector 2. I might be mistaken and you have to swap the two set of blues. The yellow goes in the center and then a blue to each of the red/green on the connector. Again you may have to shift it around. It might require some trial and error. You can see how the 74990 is connected here: ruclips.net/video/eGexwTEeFZE/видео.html Finally, the CS3 default switching time is set for 200ms. I believe that Märklin recommends 250ms for older M-track. Try with 200ms first then increase if the turnout tongs dont reliably shift (after you have double verified nothing else is stuck - or wrong). Be careful increasing this parameter too much. Hope this helps. Please let me know if it worked! Enjoy ;-)

Honestly - no Idea how to do this. You would probably use two 4568 and then configure them to work with red/green as the 74466/74465 so it fits with the CS3. However, this is not supported by Viessmann, so this would require some experimentation. Enjoy ;-)
Today I just ordered the 3 way turnout with a decoder and two mechanisms. I know now how i have to install all off them. Thanks fo r the video
Glad I could help! Enjoy ;-)

How can we install and configure a 5214 Three-way old version (Metal) which has 2 électric mechanism with a M83 and a CS3+ ?
