Pre-surgery Intro: Cervical Fusion (ACDF) vs Disc Replacement (Arthroplasty) at C5-C6

Hey everyone! I am scheduled for cervical disc replacement surgery tomorrow morning for my disc herniation at C5-C6.
I figured to post a pre-surgery video before I get the procedure done. I am planning on posting follow ups if time allows and if people are interested.
I hope this video can help others who may be dealing with similar symptoms or are going through the process as I am. If I can be of any help or support please don't hesitate to ask!

I have a similar disc bulge at C5, 6 and 7 but not as pronounced. I was in unbearable pain for all of June with all the symptoms you mentioned. But I started PT which included acupuncture and cervical disc decompression, which helped immensely. Now in August, right now Im feeling much better. I am also doing pretty much all kinds of home excercises and also taking supplements. I am trying my best to avoid injection or surgey. Hopefully the recovery will only get better from now. If it gets worse I may have to opt for surgery.

Hi, I’m considering this surgery, but I’m allergic to nickel. Did they test for metal sensitivities/allergies beforehand?

I did not get tested, but I would certainly at minimum do research on the device your surgeon plans on using to make sure it doesn’t have nickel in it!
