    I am a southern cornbread dressing snob. This would be a firm no for us! But food makes all things joyful regardless...blessings in the coming holidays.

    I start saving and oven drying bread around middle of October, I cut it in big chunks before I dry it, less messy when you cut it before it's dry. Nothing better than stuffing with gravy, yum! You are right about store bought bread 'crumbs' I once bought a well known brand name bag of stuffing bread, it was almost all tiny crumbs.

    • @cherylperry2910

      We use store bought bread stuffing, and had not much crumbs.

    Laura i always love to see how other people make their stuffing, i make mine like my mom did only i make up
    alot more i like triple it because my family loves it so much and we love to have lots. The key to my stuffing
    is lots of butter and of course i add my veggies, onions, celery, parsley, apple and mushrooms. i add thyme
    and poultry seasoning as well as salt and pepper. I really like this recipe i may try this when i have a smaller
    crowd, leeks are interesting to use, we make leek and potato soup alot with them. Your the best Laura. Thank
    you. Your apron is really nice.

    Stuffing, crusty stuffing, is my favorite side and this recipe "speaks" to me. Never used leeks but I'm up for it❤. As I Iove my "day after thanksgiving" sammy, - on top of my juicy white- meat turkey, I will crown it with lots of stuffing with perhaps a little bit of gravy, Walaaaa, perfection. Happy Pre-Thanksgiving...

    Laura recipe is incredibly close to what my mother made. One exception is adding chicken to the homemade stock and simmer. She actually just used hit Italian and fennel Italian sausage. She was a butcher and made her own sausage. I'm going to add sweet sausage this Year. Thank you.

    I cook my dressing in bread pans to increase the crispy edges.They fit around other side dishes I’m reheating too. Add ins are celery, grated carrots, onions, parsley, mushrooms. I used to throw in a can of clams juice and all like my Grama.

    Sorry Laura, but if it's not cooked in the bird, it's not STUFFING, but its dressing. When I cooked professionally, I made tons of dressing for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, but for my own dinners I always stuff the bird.

    • @jincyk9153
      @jincyk9153 9 месяцев назад

      I knew someone was going to bring this up. 😅 I've always called it stuffing as well, but I noticed in the South (where I currently live) they call it dressing. It may just be a northern vs. southern saying.

    • @douglaspierce8480
      @douglaspierce8480 9 месяцев назад +1
