    Instead of Euro 4 EGR design. Its better to add filter on the system so that only O can enter and mix into the intake port. On Mazda CX5 diesel too much carbon deposits built on intake manifold and intake port with 30 months of usage.

    • @Mpanagiotopoulos

      Well yeah but my question is wouldn't that result in higher temperatures within the combustion chamber thus lowering the lifetime of the engine ?

    • @iMentorZz
      @iMentorZz 4 года назад +3

      @@Mpanagiotopoulos No, because with EGR you`re recirculating old exhaust fumes in ur intake, witch also clogs ur intake manifold up bad in the future, when you blank the EGR your engine is running on clean air, so your actually saving your engine! :) And also your engine oil will be in much better condition when EGR is blocked. Ive recently blocked my EGR and improved the fuel consumption big time! :)

      @@iMentorZz I was arguing with my father(which has been a car mechanic for his whole lifetime) about a customer of ours who wanted to delete his EGR(ecu & mechanical).And my father was saying to me that if we delete his EGR,He will gain Torque/HP and maybe fuel consumption,but we cannot guarantee to him that he won't have high temperatures if he drives his car really fast in the highway,and that made me think twice.

    • @iMentorZz
      @iMentorZz 4 года назад

      @@Mpanagiotopoulos I suppose what ur father was trying to say is if u guys delete it and dont remap it afterwards, but I dont see this happening because ur costumers car will go in limp mode if the Egr is deleted, and ur rpm wont go up, If you delete it you should go get your car remapped, so the ecu will bacically work like it did just now with the egr programmed out of it. I have a friend that had a bmw 320d with the old m54 engine those you can run without even remapping it, but if youve done the work why not just remap and get better results :)

    I have a question about what you said around 3:24. You mention that if the chamber is only partially filled, due to less mass, there is not sufficient pressure and temperature for the gas to ignite.
    Is the ignition of the fuel dependent on pressure as much as it is on temperature? If the pressure were the same, and the temperature threshold were met, would the gas not still ignite?
    I believe I understand here that in this system the ignition is dependent on temperature and the temperature is dependent on the pressure. Is that correct? To me, this makes the ignition indirectly dependent on the pressure. What I am wanting to understand is that if the temperature could be increased in some other way, with the pressure staying the same, would the gas still ignite? Or is there a pressure that does need to be reached because the gas will not ignite, no matter the temperature?
    I apologize if the question was not worded clearly. I am trying to grasp what is happening and lacking in my ability to use the appropriate vocabulary.

    Doesn't EGR reduce the power, efficiency of the engine?

    • @milo257mm
      @milo257mm 4 года назад +1

      Yes it does! Manufacturers are trying to make more efficient engines but then use EGR that makes engines not that efficient. What a load of crap it is. Doesn't let diesels work to there efficient ways, they need heat to complete combustion. With out egr not much soot comes out the tail pipe, if theres no Dpf, ive seen it myself, so less soot better for environment and then run it threw the DPF, wont work as hard as less soot and then use SCR or adblue injection to take out NOX. just why they dont leave the engine alone. All the egr just kills them. In theory it should be good but in real life EGR is the biggest crap!

  • @H1tman47

    So is the only advantage of EGR in gasoline engines over just leaning out the air mixture the fact that there's less "extra" oxygen in the EGR premix to react with the nitrogen?

    There should be an economy mode for when vehicle is stopped and foot is on the brake at a red lights. Maybe a switch that is activated when a certain pressure is on the brake pedal. Traffic light turns yellow on other side so lighten pressure on brake to close EGR valve in anticipation of green light.

  • @esilva2789

    Kuya, in a Chevy 350 engine, do you think weak valve springs can cause dense blow by smoke? I am guessing maybe a air intake valve is not opening 100 percent. So in my theory, the cylinder is not getting sufficient O2 to make a clean burn.

  • @rotorblade9508
    @rotorblade9508 4 года назад +1

    5:37 but that’s still unclear how it lowers the temperature. You have the recirculat gas that doesn’t catch fire but if you had fresh air instead it wouldn’t burn either because the oxygen inside would exceed the required quantity for combustion so some of it will remain and combine with the nitrogen and form NOx

    • @kenny1394
      @kenny1394 4 года назад

      Because the gas from exhaust contains CO2 and N2 adn water vapor which act as diluent

    • @rotorblade9508
      @rotorblade9508 4 года назад

      Kenny fresh air act as a diluent as well except it has more o2 and les co2. water in gaseous form from the exhaust would rather condensate releasing heat but it’s still too hot for condensation.

    • @kenny1394
      @kenny1394 4 года назад +1

      @@rotorblade9508 yes agree but the point of EGR is to lower the temperature AND reduce the NOX. If you are using fresh intake air, then the NOX is high 😁

      I don’t know why but engines run really hot when you run them lean. When you have less fuel than air. And they run cooler when you have more fuel than air

  • @GordonAndrew
    @GordonAndrew 5 месяцев назад

    You mentioned lag in acceleration after idling if egr valve, due to the engine having to wait two to three cycles. But at engine rpm 750, it takes about 1/5 sec lag which in my books is acceptable. Why?

    • @GordonAndrew
      @GordonAndrew 5 месяцев назад

      If I commute in heavy traffic, lots of stop-starts and idling, fuel consumption is decreased substantially. Am I wrong?
