- The plaintiff says she bought a Jeep from the defendant, but she claims it’s defective and the VIN number doesn’t match the title. She’s suing for her money back. The defendant says the plaintiff’s car was stolen and damaged. He agreed to repair it for her, but she went nuts when he told her she’d have to pay for it. He’s countersuing for towing and impound fees.

He fixed that car up and re-sold it, idgaf what he’s talking about. Everything was still in his name. He didn’t think she was smart enough to sue. ( I use the term smart enough loosely 🥴)

when the Judge asks him directly if he put it in her name before she took it, he said yes, then he says later it wasn't, then as soon as he sees where's she with that question he changes his story again, so it was his obligation for repairs, insurance etc

Very fair ruling. I am 72 and have had new and mostly used cars. Have never been able to take a liened car away without tag and title first, which means it is insured, because tag and title requires an insurance binder number. What kind of “I am keeping your money and, oh well, the car is gone” car transaction is that?! I am with the judge, dude sold the car to someone else. Shady business.

I hear Cleveland up and down this case with the mannerisms (and plaintiff mentioned a street of interest). Therefore they are more than likely from Ohio and hence the use of the BMV (we don’t call it DMV here).

I received a letter from TPC asking to bring my case to TV. I was SO excited, but I knew my ex-friend wouldn't go on TV because it would make her look bad (which she is!)
The new People's Court uses actors, not actual cases, as in the prior version. 😮😮
He either got someone to steal it and he didn’t think she’d file a report so quickly and file a suit, ORRR, he resold that car. Or both. In fact, I wouldn’t be shocked if she even got it stolen to sue him or they in on it together. Someone’s capping.

The judge is wrong on this one. When they stole the car they broke the steering column and ignition along with the u joint. Fixing the steering column and new ignition and new key for the car cost more than the car is worth.
Former jeep owner that had a steering column issue.
Thats not the issue here the issue is that the dealer himself said the repairs were only 130 something and then instead of keeping the car there and going for a formal reposession like the law dictates to dissolve the contract he took it upon himself to either resell or scrap it so he undid the deal caue now she doesnt have have what she was paying for You cant take something you sold me back and tell me you decided I'm not worth it with out going through reposession So no she is not wrong no mater the circumstances the dealership is wrong for not doing things legally.
Except the dealer literally quoted her the price on what it would cost. You saying it cost more to fix than it's worth actually helps the plaintiff's case because the dealer would have known it costed that much so he was keeping $800 while scrapping a car that would cost too much to fix, it would have been a win win for him except the plaintiff decided to sue him for.

I had to pause the video after watching the introduction of the plantiff and the defendant, because it reminded me of an episode of Due South. In that episode, a used car lot was selling cars to people, then employees would use the personal information and a spare set of keys to find and steal the cars back. They would then change the vin numbers and paint the cars for reselling. For some reason this just struck a chord with me, I can't wait to see if this is like that show.
Damn, I think it turned out to be a very similar situation, this guy told on himself when he started talking about doing a repo and then when he said that he junked it for scrap...with no paperwork??? Hhahaha who going to believe that, he stole the car knowing she wouldn't be able to get the car out of the lot, then told her that it had a bunch of expensive damage ,instigated a fight and threw her out of the office (even refused the 120.00 dollars) then he resold the car out from under her.
