Good decision-making keeps relationships and friendships intact. It's best not to ask a family member or friend to rent their car when you do not know the history of their car. There's a reason why it's best to rent from a rental car service versus going to a friend or family member to borrow/rent their car. Rental companies have systems in place to handle issues like the ones that occurred in this case.
They could've rented a car from a car rental company for $500. They tried to do the right thing by paying for repairs though. I wished they had countersued.
If you’re borrowing someone’s property (car), you need to take as much care as possible with it before hitting the highway. Check all fluid levels just like you would fill up on windshield washer fluid. Check the oil, the coolant, etc.
I really was thinking the same thing. Those text message exchanges revealed that the plaintiff and defendant are illiterate and may be a bit slow as well.
“When a friend comes crying for help, don’t help them out” he fittin to be hella lonely. He gotta remember that when he needs help and he asks a friend. His hair says it all….. he needs a brain
This guys legit wanted to push the leaks in his car on people that rented it for a week. This guy has absolutely no shame. They are victims of opportunity at this point.
Well I side with the plaintiff in something, for a motor to blow up you have to drive it while overheating it, they must have known with the temp signal it was overheating before it smokes, and when it does is the coolant that is leaking. But the guy that rented the car didn't check it up before obviously, so it's unfortunate.
When your car over heats like this, turn it off immediately. Do not try and start it again and have it towed to the garage. The problem is the water pump needs to be replaced. It keep the engine from overheating. If it does overheat, the engine will blow and you will need to replace the whole engine. When replacing the water pump, you should also have the timing belt replaced as well
you shouldn't have to top up coolant or change oil after 3,000 miles. Especially if the plaintiff topped up the fluids as he claimed. The plaintiff told them to keep driving after it cooled off...
I’m was really trying to hear the plaintiff out only thing that got me was no documents on his car history but it makes sense to get an oil change at some point driving from NYC to FL but maybe he’s a scammer idk but he definitely got free work done on his car
Actually, it DOESN'T make sense to get an oil change if driving from NY to FL and back. What makes sense is having your vehicle ready for a trip from NY to FL and back. If I rented a car from Enterprise or Hertz, I'm not changing the oil on anything.
@@michaeldelyjah5696 are you renting a 12 yr old car from a rental company? Exactly my point the couple was looking for a easy way out and I’m not saying if they did get the oil change etc this wouldn’t have happen that’s a long while to be driving a 12 yr old car without some type care maintenance or rest at the same time he had no paperwork on the history of his vehicle he got eight hundred bucks worth of work done to his vehicle trust me he still walked away happy
If I had a car that overheated even once in 3 years I damn sure wouldn't be taking it on the road trip especially if it's got 100, 150,000 200, 000 miles on it , if it overheated once in the last 3 years you can bet it's going to overheat again when you go driving at that far no matter how much maintenance you've done to it
If you can keep coolant and oil in the motor you will likely avoid doing major damage. It wasn't until the end that we got to the real problem and that was the radiator was leaking. Not surprising on a car that age and miles. If he sent it out in that condition he was asking for problems. He said ''it does that, let it cool down''. He didn't say and add water. It got hot for a reason and that sort of told me he KNEW. When it gets hot damage can happen within minutes at highway speeds. So the ''blown'' radiator caused a ''blown'' motor. A better description would be a leaky radiator led to a low coolant condition which caused the engine temperatures to exceed safe levels. Nothing ''blew'' except possibly the head gasket, that's not often the end of it though.
Most likely the water passages in the radiator were semi clogged from not changing the anti freeze. Overheating will warp the head which can be resurfaced or it just blew the head gasket unless you drive it until the motor seizes up a valve job should fix it. Radiators can do a rod out they take it apart and clean he passages
Where it overheated...the Coolant probably boiled out. I say where the Defendants paid for Towing and the repairs...the rest is on the Plaintiff's responsibility

You don't rent your 09 car for a long run down to Florida. He looking for them to fix his old car!
They could have RENTED a car for less money. A newer car that was no worse in size. $500 for a week. What a rip off.
Yeah Doug, Pep Boys does check, just like they will run an OBD2 too!
Rent a car/fly next time this was too much and they were “friends”
The plaintiff really tried to scam his friends for new parts smdh
Always check your fluids! Every time you put gas in the car if it’s got over 100,000 miles! I’ve learned the hard way on every car I’ve owned in the past lol.
👍🏾
Plaintiff trying to make cheddar 😂
Simple answer: Do not.. I repeat Do not.. Loan your car or money to anyone and you won't have to deal with the drama.
Life lesson when you are a new driver: always have a gallon or two of water in your trunk. Especially if car is old.
What if they got into a accident with no insurance. Seems to risky to me
He needed the $3,000 for his braids. The braids consulted with him like they were his lawyer. He said, "How about $2,000?!" The four of them said, "you're thinking small, go for 3!" He said, "good idea. We got this."
🤣🤣🤣
Doug forgot to say “you lose”
I hope he’s okay
Damm who would rent a POS for a road trip?
God bless everyone on here🐦❤
I firmly believe, a part of the high school curriculum should be basic car maintenance and troubleshooting.
He was ripped off paying that bill
HE TRIED IT 😂
“ I have pages of evidence “ what a chump 😬🤣🤣
But none of the evidence you need 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤣
Defendants seem like nice kids, unlike a lot of the people their age on the show.
They could've rented a car from a car rental company for $500. They tried to do the right thing by paying for repairs though. I wished they had countersued.
Could have flown to Florida stayed in hotel for a week and fly back for $1000.
If they didn't have the money to fly they damn sure could've rented a car with a reputable company for LESS than $500
You have to check fluids daily when going on any long trip! We always did this even when driving new vehicles!
$500, then $700... Why didn't they get an actual rental car? No credit card? Not 25 yet?
Bro don’t help your friends ???? U just tried to burn your friends
If you’re borrowing someone’s property (car), you need to take as much care as possible with it before hitting the highway. Check all fluid levels just like you would fill up on windshield washer fluid. Check the oil, the coolant, etc.
Why didn't the defendants just rent a car from a rental company? it's not expensive, you can rent a car for 300 a week from Hertz.
If this is the future of America, we're in trouble folks......
"I cant be a flow ride-ah cus da whip broke" 🤣😩
Boy bye.!They shouldn't have to pay you anymore 💰like how greedy is greedy geez
Can you just tell us all that you want a new 🚘 from the defendant so I can☠💀 laugh you out court😆😂🤣
This guys legit wanted to push the leaks in his car on people that rented it for a week. This guy has absolutely no shame. They are victims of opportunity at this point.
The beginning I would be laughing bc of the guys Scream voice. One kid in the back is laughing in the beginning. They definitely hear that intro.
Well I side with the plaintiff in something, for a motor to blow up you have to drive it while overheating it, they must have known with the temp signal it was overheating before it smokes, and when it does is the coolant that is leaking. But the guy that rented the car didn't check it up before obviously, so it's unfortunate.
It’s your car sir
That blue book value was probably about 25 bucks to the junk yard.
Harvey! ..ok Doug.. Doug is always zinging people on their way out...🙃
If I had a car that overheated even once in 3 years I damn sure wouldn't be taking it on the road trip especially if it's got 100, 150,000 200, 000 miles on it , if it overheated once in the last 3 years you can bet it's going to overheat again when you go driving at that far no matter how much maintenance you've done to it
Don’t help friends out....... but you charged them. Lol
This sounded more like a business transaction, than a favor.
It doesn't even cost $500 to rent a car for a week, most rentals are like $20-$25 a day
Probably age or no cc etc
The mileage from NY to Florida would be awfully high!!
@@cindylemons9677 most rentals are unlimited mileage now. I did several cross state road trips for fun
I rent cars frequently and have memberships with several providers. Believe me, it ain't so cheap no mo'!
I paid $57 for a day
Most likely the water passages in the radiator were semi clogged from not changing the anti freeze.
I love Judge Milian and I so look forward to the day when I can teach her the correct way to use present tense and when to use it; that's gonna be a good day.
I've driven a car from California to Connecticut... And we didn't have to stop and let it sit for half an hour when it got overheated. If the car is overheating it's got a problem and letting it sit for half an hour is not a fix
Mr. Ramirez I hate to say it but it isn't their fault but I will add you are a good person to let them use it. Your young just remember no good deed goes unpunished. I am an old fellow I learn that and it makes life much easier.
