These ladies are an inspiration. I grew up in Burslem and I know its been through hard times but glad to see that people still care. All the best to June and her hard working team and to Kamen too.
Kamen is an inspiration that all young kids in trouble should look up to. It's not about making millions, it's about having your personal pride, contributing, having something for yourself and building a life.
I'm a stokie born and bred, end of, but when I went into the merchant navy in the late eighties I asked an old sailor where he came from and he said Kirby Liverpool and when he asked me where I came from and said stoke the scouser (who was about 50 years old) looked at me and said "jesus lar that's one rough hole" and just remember standing there thinking he's just said stokes rough and he comes from Kirby..ha ha..no offence to any lars from Kirby.
Love this stuff on Stoke on Trent, then here we have Bozlum. Our dialect is dying to. Cos kick a bo gen a wo. Arfur towkrate in Staffycher was some of the best books i ever read. Keeep up the great work ladies!! fantastic!!
When a town consists of mainly small independent shops and the council decides to put double yellow lines in every street what do you expect. It happened in Tunstall.
It also has to do with the government choosing austerity straight after the 2008 recession so none of these communities were getting corporate investment and none of these communities were getting government investment, the tories were too busy paying for their banker friends to help out the families and communities that actually needed it
The leopard hotel inn is my favourite pub the history of that building is amazing. She is our city's diamond I can't believe they shut burslem indoor market down I know that was years ago but it was always pack so I understand why they closed it
I went to college in Burslem, never went to uni and now I live in Perth, Australia on over $100,000 a year. This was all possible because I took my life by the reins and made hard but worthy decisions.
I’m a Longtonian and a born “chip eater” from Meir. The only people who talk of the “Mother Town” are the people who live there, the rest of us stay away 😂
Perhaps, as an older man he’s lived through many hard times and has made his living, and now living in retirement. Having a day-time drink isn’t exactly a bad thing
Our Burslem do a great job as do synetic solutions. It might not look warm and welcoming at times but Burslem is and I'm happy to be bringing my children up here.
U mean June price (she seems to forget she was married to a Gypsy man n is now widowed) .... People want to check out her son on fb Wayne nassy price... He will tell anyone the truth about his mother.. The on who drops her own 'homeless' son off in manchester gave him £40 n told him go make a life of his own.... N that ain't the worst of this woman!
I didn't realise it was this bad out there I stay at home nearly all the time apart from work but it's shocking we need these towns to be more lively again more investment is needed

Would you be making $100k if you still lived in Burslem?
C. Lincoln no chance. Most I earned in England was £33,000 which is about $58,000. Still, I was 25 and earning 33k which was pretty good.

"Pull their sleeves up and get on with it" says the man day-time drinking...

He could be a shift worker. Not uncommon for people on the 6am-2pm to have a drink after work. Or it may be his lunch hour, day off, holiday.
Mate use To go for a beer at lunch time, got caught out by the boss one day, turned out to be his day off.
1:50 that's my brother and his mum!!! (his mum cuz hes my half brother. Same dad different mum's)
I just found out that one of my ancestors was born in Stoke-Upon-Trent in the mid 17th century and I feel like I'd jive just fine with these folks 🤗
Stoke on Trent not upon Trent.
I always check behind me to make sure I am not being followed if I have to use that alley way.

We need industry back. Proper jobs with proper pay. Not a chance of that though.
If you don’t do anything for the Asian /Pakistani people they will not come out stop been racist and include the majority as well
Criminal, dirty, high depressive city.
If you want to make Burslem lively again then they NEED to pump money through Port Vale.. Bigger club = more away fans = more money and tourists..
