Whales ... in the desert? This ancient sea bed is known as 'The Valley of the Whales'

In the western desert of Egypt, Wadi Hitan contains fossil remains of the earliest suborder of whales. It's known as 'The Valley of the Whales.'

In the program, Sarika describes Basilosaurus as "the first fully aquatic whale to be discovered."
It's claimed that these more slender-type creatures are transitional forms, due to the presence of "hind legs" and the structure and alignment of teeth in some species.
Given that basilosaurs grew to 20 metres, these alleged vestigial hind legs are tiny-the largest were only about 35 cm long.
But even Philip Gingerich, the American paleontologist considered a leading expert on whale evolution, said of the "hind legs" in 1990: "It seems to me that they could only have been some kind of sexual and reproductive clasper." In other words, they were fully functional and not vestigial (useless remnants of past evolution).
Yet Hesham Sallam tells Sarika that these "hind legs" were "useless."
In 1974, vertebrate paleontologist Barbara Jaffe Stahl wrote, "The serpentine form of the body and the peculiar shape of the cheek teeth make it plain that these archaeocetes [the basilosaurids] could not possibly have been the ancestor of modern whales."

Expand your time scale. If it drained slowly(like really slow), itd be a shore at some point. Prior to that, the water level would be higher for the whales to reside. The “mangroves” and whales may have not lived together in the same era.
