We don't actually know what dinosaurs looked like

  • Think of a dinosaur. If you’re thinking of a giant, scaly lizard that would fit right in at a Jurassic Park exhibit, you’re not alone. But the look of dinosaurs has evolved over time, from upright, tail-dragging cold-blooded killers to smart, warm-blooded creatures - some of which had feathers!
In this episode, Anthony and Sarika bone up on the science behind paleoart and learn how to draw their own dino based on a fossil. #TheNatureOfThings101 #Dinosaurs

Thing is, if you turn it into wings, those ridiculous front legs make sense. The way they are carried makes sense if you add wing feathers.

Found this video because of a RUclips short, loved the full length video, super cool to even learn how long ago the term "Dinosaur" was coined. Great drawing as well guys!

Paleoartists don't make art from skeletons, they get not only imagery of the skeleton, but vivid descriptions of findings from scientists and possible renders.

I want to be able to draw dinosaurs as I love making speculative evolution and whole new creatures in the Mesozoic

Dr Dhrolin's Dictionary of Dinosaurs is a great book that covers realistic dinosaurs according to our modern understandings, and is a supplement for Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition. It somehow taught me more about these animals and their behavior than even in my Paleontology course I took (the book includes sources to actual papers and reports for each species). Worth checking out if you have interests in paleontology or D&D.

Seems like we're just getting out of the peak chonky period of paleoart now, less than a decade after peak feathery.

We don't know exactly 100% what they look like, only about 99.9% with enough fossils and research so you're correct. We don't always know their skin colour, feathers or no feathers from certain dinosaurs, and ones that we have barely any fossils for. Nowadays with enough fossils and research, we can easily be certain about what a dinosaur or any other extinct creature may look like. I'm update to date with dinosaurs all the time, so if this video is meant to be for non-dinosaur enthusiasts, I get your point.

The feathered dinosaur theory makes sense, you have crocodilians and other reptiles and you have avians that split off from similar ancestors. It’s only natural that many had feathers.

It is the same for Aves, they are their own thing, just inside of Dinosauria.
Yes, "split off from similar ancestors" is not a great way to put it, they are descendants of the same archosaur common ancestor just as much as crocodilians are, but they are their own thing

Canada is such a woke diverse place they can't even produce a video on dinosaurs without making a statement about it with the presenters. Woke and soft!

“Woke and soft” in what way? Heard this a million times, in your eyes something only counts as woke ideology because you feel like it does. A gay couple holding hands? WOKE. A trad wife with a husband and four kids? Not woke. A mixed-race couple? WOKE. But a white couple? That’s just normal society.
In your comment, you couldn’t even identify what’s wrong with the presenters aside from vaguely saying they’re “diverse”. What agenda are they pushing?

The atoms that make you will someday be dust, and yet you spend the moments you have with hatred for those who do you no harm. We can only hope the dust that becomes of you serves a better purpose.
