    Very cool of them to be training, I just wish they'll realize a full suit of traditional clothing is not adequate for Himalayan mountaineering.
    There must be a reason not even Sherpas do such a thing, they routinely use technical clothing and carry oxygen themselves. Conditions are much colder and harsher than in Bolivia, heights much higher, it can turn to frozen hell in an heartbeat.
    They could wear the coloured shirt (maybe a bit shorter, like the skaters', to reduce the sail effect and the risk of getting caught by crampons) on top of the duvet suit and be safe.
    😉👍

      I mean these ladies live at half the elevation of the summit already. Sure its not smart of them, but they are legit more acclaimed than anyone else..

    • @androidrebel
      @androidrebel Месяц назад

      @@sim_city did you mean "acclimatised"? Sure they are, and that's an advantage, but Nepali sherpas are more acclimatised and also used to a more rigid climate, and still they use layered technical clothing and oxygen. Some of them are world class mountaineers who are extremely trained (e.g. Nirmal Purja) but still use technical clothing.
      The harshness of weather and the speed of its change at high elevations is a major factor of failure in mountaineering.
      This is what my opinion is based on.

    • @sim_city
      @sim_city 20 дней назад +1

      @androidrebel acclimated* Sorry. Haha, and damn i didn't realize the sherpas lived at 15k+ feet as well.
      Like i said, though, not a smart thing for them to attempt. I wasn't disagreeing with you, my friend.

    I don’t know how practical the skirt is for climbing. I can see while they are leaning forward while climbing, the skirt goes very close to their shoes and it’s easy for the hem of the skirt to get caught in the shoe picks.

    • @GiraffeLoverJen
      @GiraffeLoverJen Месяц назад +1

      It might not be practical for mountain climbing, but I love that they wear them as a sign of who they are, and the power and strength they have after many years of oppression. They wear the skirts in pride. Women have been doing extreme sports and activities in skirts for many hundreds of years.

    Although this is some experience, I’m not sure if what they are climbing is truly going to prepare them. Everest’s death zone doesn’t even begin until 26,000 feet, and Aconcagua is only 22,000 feet. Maybe they can do it without oxygen, but they sound delusional considering even sherpas take oxygen tanks with them.

    • @TVY2013

      I didn't even fully fell, only a misstep that made it bend inwards and then hit the next step with my full weight.
      I've been unable to walk for almost 6 months. And wishing at least it happened doing something interesting or fun.

      They're certainly more trained than a lot of the rich millionaires who pay their way up Everest, but I highly doubt they'll only wear the traditional garb. They'll need expensive high end summit suits like all the other climbers, either under or over their dresses. Even the Sherpa wear those suits.

    • @tfrtrouble
      @tfrtrouble Месяц назад +2

      @@iron___ Yeah this video is terrible for not making that point clear. If they are going to add some of their traditional clothing to their Everest gear, then this is an awesome undertaking that has my full support. If they are actually intending to climb only in this traditional gear normally worn on much lower (and warmer) mountains, then it is arrogant and irresponsible, since if you do something deliberately dangerous on Everest, you also put the lives of Sherpas and other people who may try to rescue you at risk.

    As for the climbing, I am all for it, wish the ladies best luck, but with proper equipment. I saw how those skirts were floating in the air and were tangling between the legs, and under the boot creating a fall risk. And why for the love of God they do not want helmet and prefer their hats? I understand tradition, but I assumed those women are intelligent enough to know how to make the tradition your strength not the liability. And that girl power takes off when you have to fight domestic violence. 80% of women has experienced gender violence, and those fancy ladies think that climbing in unsafe, yet traditional gear will make them heroines.
