Great video! But, it would be SO MUCH easier to see exactly what was happening if the background was dark blue or black. White or light blue on a white background is not optimal…
Rev. Dr. Funnyshoe especially when you cut the ends off right next to the knot before it’s tight. This knot will tighten with use automatically, but it will pull through at least a few millimeters of the ends while doing so.
Excellent videos btw, I have made six 4mm soft shackles to replace the lashes on blocks on our NES yacht.
Should read new yacht...DOH!!
I believe a button knot with the lose ends feed inwards would make the shackle even stronger
It does, but the difference is pretty marginal.

What is the distance from M to B for a 6mm soft shackle?
That would be 26cm
Is there a strength difference between this softshackle and the other version ?
No, there is no difference
Yes, there is. I am a professional rigger, 3.5 decades. The knot and THE TIGHTNESS OF THAT KNOT are critical.
"Yachting Monthly" has the easier to follow video of a soft shackle that is better than this type.

I believe this is an improved version: ruclips.net/video/HNlgAqo0cc8/видео.html
