"How do you think that the T500RS compares to your G27?" "Uh...can you repeat that question again? I was distracted heavily by...uh...your....uh....yeah...."
I like how the paddles don't move with the wheel. I drive with my G27, and sometimes the wheel goes all the way around, and you have no idea which is up or down shift. Well done Thrustmaster, makes me rethink whether to get one or not.
I know this video is old as dirt but it's the one I had seen and eventually bought a T500rs, so now Dec 2019, my wheel is a little over 8 years old and still going strong, I had to tap out the hub screws and put in longer screws and change the fan but that's it. I also installed a Bodin load cell for the brake pedal, love these more than the Fanatac Club Sports V1 once the load cell was installed. After 8 years of use, I still very much love my T500rs. :)
Hi all, had to put my two cents worth in.Took the plunge and bought the T500rs & a Wheel Stand Pro had it for 4 days.Awesome wheel.Rock solid, uber smooth and full of feedback. I liked GT5 could see the amount of work put into the physics but "do i drive my real world car with a ps3 controller?" i found it hard to hold a trigger or stick at the half-way point often needed for a constant radius corner for example not any more! Dirt 3 very compatible also, great game will play a lot more.
Most of the settings you talked about for GT5 have no effect at all on the wheel. First off, 'Steering Type' and 'Power-Assisted Steering' only apply to GT Force wheels (highlighted above) - GT3 had the exact same options. I imagine that 'Force Feedback' would apply to the Thrustmaster as it does for the DFGT and DFP, otherwise there'd be no adjustment at all. Secondly 'Controller Steering Sensitivity' only works 'in response to steering input from the directional buttons or analog stick.'
forget the shifter question man- I need to watch the full vid before questions a sent from now on. Should have known you guys would get to it, Great episode guys and gal
@vicbel I've had a GT3RS and now the T500RS, which is way, way superior wheel. Downside, it does not have a load cell, but Fanatec pedals are full of bugs, so, in the end you would be better with T/M! :-)
just want to add: it has no effect on the steering to adjust "sensitivity" in GT5 (works only for Pad-gaming!) or set "steering type" to simulation with a DFGT/ T500RS (only for low-end wheels which are displayed/illuminated in the menu above)-> just read the ingame description carefully :) rest of the vid is good.
Great review, I picked up mine yesterday, all I can say is it is awesome! Right now, I have mine mounted on an computer tray, but it is pretty clear the forces produced by this wheel require a more stable hard mount. Do you guys think the Gamepod GT1 do the job, given it is not attached to a chair?
@simracingtonight Thanks for the reply, though what I meant is that a product by other manufacture that is as close to the tech' that the T500RS have but with a lower price, if they use another material which is also durable but cheaper that can affect the price because from what I understand from your great review is that they use a very good material for the t500rs that it kinda affect its price tag :D
@NiCadRacer nah to be fair to Darin, I too wondered if the sensitivity option on GT5 had an effect on a wheel, particulary G27. A 180 degree turn in GT5, you will have to turn the G27 atleast 270 degrees. But once it had no effect on rotation, it was obvious that option was only for controllers.
A couple of things Id like to ask. Is the clutch exactly the same tension as the accelerator. Have the guys at thrustmaster given you any idea about when the shifter will be coming out. And could you please enquire next time youre in touch with them about what plans they have regarding the removable wheel for updates. They say removable for future updates but some details would be nice. I enjoyed the review, Thanks.
since you guys mention a "competitor edition" wheel, I hope they won't make some wheel with the same or much higher price but with a cheaper price because thats the way things should be.. price going down and not up.. I just hope Nice episode and review btw guys! Thanks!
I finally bought the T500RS after owning the G27 for years, and I am very dissapointed. First off, there is very bad NOTCHING (twitching), and a little dead zone. The rattling of the wheel as you drive straight is very annoying and very un-realistic. Your wheel doesn't just twitch while you're driving down the road. I am ticked off Inside Sim Racing did not note this in the Cons of the wheel. I will be contacting Thrustmaster to see what they have to say and will report back if my wheel is bad. (but this is the same thing other wheels do so i know it's not a defect, just something they didn't mention in the IRACING.com ADVERTISEMENT.. duh!
You wheel support swings a lot, I had the same problem with mine and fix it by soldering a couple of flat feet to the ground, the problem is that the ff effects and driving precision are totally filtered by the swing. With the support fixed it seems another wheel.
@Dougie085 Ok Doug.. Lets take $200 off for the pedals.. So the wheel is $400 and a GT3 is $170. Is this wheel worth $230 more than the GT3.. I'd have to say yes.. I love the Fanatec gear and am still running the clubsport pedals, but I like this wheel that much more.
i have a playseat rig. i noticed that you can buy the t500rs along with the rig now but can you perfectly hard mount the wheel to the playseat given that its primarily built for the logitech g25 and 27? same goes for the shifter that just came out. thanks!
@sbmsuperman I asked a Fanatec GT2 owner the same question and he says it does but its much slower. You can watch Thomas (Fanatec CEO) take his hands off the wheel and it returns to center. It doesnt instantly snap like a t500rs would in the vid
I have had the T500RS for a couple of days now and there is a clicking / ticking sound when I turn the wheel left or right (not plugged in) the faster you turn the wheel the louder the clicking. Has anybody had this problem before? The clicking is there even when the wheel is plugged in (PS3 and PC) but you only hear it when you counter steer.
Here in Canada, this literally costs ~50% more than the G29.. given that the G29 is roughly 400 Canadian dollars and this is roughly 600 Canadian dollars.. I couldn't justify the G29 so i went for this.
Funny you mention using it for the GT Academy. I used my G25 for Round 3 of the academy because I just can't run as fast with the T500rs. I think it might be due to the high level of dampening it seems to have when used in GT5. At times the FFB resistance goes way up when turning the wheel fast even though I keep FFB at 1 in the game. Fixed paddles hinder me a little too, requiring a hand to come off at times. But I love driving with the T500rs, just wouldn't have made it to the finals with it.
Any comments on the durability of this system?? I am in the market for a racing sim for PC and PS4 and my budget started low and now has gone up to 1500USD with VR included. I have been researching. The frequent bad reviews on amazon trouble me because they ALL refer to reliability/durability issues, specifically the system failing really soon after puchase. So, any cooments on this?
@simracingtonight Have you tried mounting the pedals to a playseat? From the looks of it, maybe the GT style would work better and hopefully it fixes the awkward positioning of the pedals. Had to buy the T500 after seeing your reviews, sad thing is I just got my G27... DOH!
Hey guys i have a quick question. Have you guys ever experienced what seems like the belt jumping teeth making a gear grinding type sound and then the wheel going out of alignment? This happened to me the other night while making a opposite correction in iracing. Waiting on customer service but would like to know what you guys experience has been. Thanks!
Hi InsideSimRacing, Just want to know your honest opinion. I will get a steering wheel this weekend. im choosing between Fanatec Porsche 911 GT3 vs Thrustmaster T500RS i will get one of those for similar price. Fanatec Porsche 911 GT3 RS V2 Wheel Fanatec CSR Pedal $462 Thrustmaster T500 RS limited $435 please give me your honest opinion about the two in terms of - realistic feel (ForceFeedback) - durability because i read some reviews regarding thrustmaster easily broke. thank you and more power..

No more buying games before they come out so I can get freebies the hell with freebies if you cant play the game with you favorite wheel. Thanks Chris.p
@simracingtonight Alright thanks, makes sense. I just wasn't sure that the pedals could be used stand alone and if they can't then you can't sell them more then likely. I am a little confused on who you guys rate these things. I understand the ratings but I was watching the GT2 review in conjunction with this one and noticed you only gave a total possible 15 points for forcefeedback on this one but 20 for the GT2. There were some other strange things as well.
Question: From your other review of the T3PA-Pro pedals, you said that the main difference is the conical brake mod which is included in the T3PA pro, so i believe i am correct in assuming that the stock T500rs pedals (while the same as the t3pa pro) doesnt have the connical brake mod. The wheel is the best in the market but the price aint gonna really attract most sim racers but Im still gonna stick with my cheaper G27 and my real Lancer Evolution 6.
@simracingtonight OK, and I contacted owner of PS3RUclips, so he'll probably try to fix it on his end too. Maybe just check to see if your channel settings changed I guess. It's all you could probably do. Thanks.
Hi How can you be happy with the yor simulator position when you only concerns wheels cut the score, while sitting in a car is more stable or in a cockpit for the game simulation. I was really thinking about saving some money for this wheel, but no shifter is perhaps the biggest turn-off I've ever faced. I only have a cheap 360 wheel, and want something for GT5, and think going for the top-of-the-line right now would save me a lot in the long run, but no shifter puts me off a bit. Perhaps I'll wait a bit, either this will get a shifter first, or someone else will come out with a competing wheel, which could effectively even bring price down. Hopefully something happens.
Wouldve gotten this wheel, but I needed x360 compatibility and using a wheelstand, so its GT2/cs pedals for me... when it comes back in stock. Any chance the T500 could be made x360 compatible through a future firmware update?
Thank you simracing team's you The best channel for sim gamers. I own gt2 but i still perfer my Logitech G25, i think GT2 its so sold and heavy wheel in game and stupid centering in alll race time.
"How do you think that the T500RS compares to your G27?"

+Joe Pickett lol
what happened to jess lo
nice rack (steering)
You made 25 accounts hmmm
10 out of 10 would bang I ..mean great wheel...

is it still worth a buy in 2020 for ps3 ps4?how much is it now
I used to thought that G27 feels amazing, and after I tried T500rs, G27 is completely shit
Hi all, had to put my two cents worth in.Took the plunge and bought the T500rs & a Wheel Stand Pro had it for 4 days.Awesome wheel.Rock solid, uber smooth and full of feedback. My F430 is still alive, and one of the most solid sim racing wheels iv ever got, so i expect this to be nothing but better!
I don't get why some people disrespect Darin and Shaun sometimes, you guys are legends and I never EVER miss an episode. Love you guys : - )
It's really impressive how Tom avoids looking at THOSE.
They had to do several takes! Finally he was able to stop staring. lol
I'll stick with the DFGT...a very good wheel for $120 when I got it at GameStop.
Bring on the Gran Turismo 5 Review! :D
5:51 - 6:11 i love these old styles of ads.
luckily she is driving only in game
lol
For this pricing point, I would expect to come w/ the stick shift.

I was thinking on buying this wheel and this video made me click the buy button. PC racing here i come!
+TatsuyaDragon what do you think of the wheel now ???
The "Controller Steering Sensitivity" setting in the GT6 Driving Options menu affects the steering sensitivity when using a Dual Shock 3 controller.
Got to love that smug look on Darin at 41:30 :D
You guys should also announce and review the updates from GT5 in your Pit Stops. :D
forget the shifter question man- I need to watch the full vid before questions a sent from now on. Should have known you guys would get to it, Great episode guys and gal
Had them, were pretty damn nice. Only downside is the kind of cheap construction around the hinges, which broke on mine.
My g25 is broken... So should I get a t500rs or look into the t300, or fanatec csr lineup? Thanks Darin -cheers
Yeah, the steering sensitivity is solely for use with the DualShock 3, it wasn't designed for wheel users.
GT6 is on it's way, and I'm thinking this is going to be the wheel I go with.
@vicbel
I've had a GT3RS and now the T500RS, which is way, way superior wheel. Downside, it does not have a load cell, but Fanatec pedals are full of bugs, so, in the end you would be better with T/M! :-)
just want to add:
it has no effect on the steering to adjust "sensitivity" in GT5 (works only for Pad-gaming!) or set "steering type" to simulation with a DFGT/ T500RS (only for low-end wheels which are displayed/illuminated in the menu above)-> just read the ingame description carefully :)
rest of the vid is good.

@bdub232 We are allowing embeds. We have it embed out our own site as a matter of fact. . It must be a PS3 / You Tube or flash error. .
since you guys mention a "competitor edition" wheel, I hope they won't make some wheel with the same or much higher price but with a cheaper price because thats the way things should be.. price going down and not up.. I just hope
Nice episode and review btw guys!
Thanks!
4 year later what you guys have to say about the durability?
+Gustavo Mirales Silva .... up! ;)
+Johny G
Hello +simracingtonight can you let us know?
Sucks. My smoke checked after a year
Nice show and wicked wheel.
Darin, ure still using 5850 for that triple screen rig? Wut processor?
@Jordzindaplace No, they don't have a USB plug
@naurispunk Creative Sigma Tactic 3D. We just reviewed them. Show should be up within a day or so..
Great work guys!
" Its a button" I LOLD!
Since gas and clutch pedal are the same stick, doesn't they have same tension when you invert it?

Sounds more like a faulty wheel because mine has none of them issues, it's so much better than the Logitech wheels!
Nice to see an f1 wheel on the way for this.
Great Review - I need that wheel. -......Ever wish you were a Microphone Cable???
jessica! very cool dressed down look now. brings out your natural beauty more than the previous makeup heavy look!
What is the resolution of the pedals? Are they the same as the Club Sport v3? I dont really care for load cell deal, It will be an upgrade from my GT
If you consider both wheel and pedals, which "combo" is best, T500 or Fanatec GT3+CSP?
looks like a badass wheel, Will it take a shifter or stuck with those damn paddles?
@slamskank They are 2428s or something like that..
Every series sim racer just ordered this one.
@Nefus1988 there is a button you can push to tell the unit which pedal orientation you are using. so that it knows which should be the gas
These are under 400 bucks on Amazon right now. Just picked one up since my G25 finally started to die after years of near constant use.
You wheel support swings a lot, I had the same problem with mine and fix it by soldering a couple of flat feet to the ground, the problem is that the ff effects and driving precision are totally filtered by the swing. With the support fixed it seems another wheel.

I love the Fanatec gear and am still running the clubsport pedals, but I like this wheel that much more.
The reason why the paddles are not attached to the wheel is because it's the way it is on a real Lamborghini or Porsche for example
Great review guys. What camera you you record with, its pretty kick ass quality.
Keep up the good work!!!
May I ask, which monitor do you use (the one SRT is written on)? It looks like a very good monitor, would you recommend it?
@Simracer1990 Yes but it was mentioned that Thrusmaster sensitivity would be adjustable and that was the only setting found.
i have a playseat rig. i noticed that you can buy the t500rs along with the rig now but can you perfectly hard mount the wheel to the playseat given that its primarily built for the logitech g25 and 27? same goes for the shifter that just came out. thanks!
45 minutes! Wow!!! I won't be watching that tonight, err this morning ;)
@666patrickbateman666 No, you have to buy as a package..
@sbmsuperman I asked a Fanatec GT2 owner the same question and he says it does but its much slower. You can watch Thomas (Fanatec CEO) take his hands off the wheel and it returns to center. It doesnt instantly snap like a t500rs would in the vid
My T500RS stopped working within a week so yeah, it's nice, while it lasts.
Then you are well within the warranty.. Take it back to where you bought it and return it for a new one.
only one word, it starts with B and ends with S....
+KsNoz oh yes :D
Bafoons?

@simracingtonight thank you very much for your quick response :). Sadly it seems like you can't buy these in Germany :/.
seriously, Jessica does not need this two angle camera editing.
I have had the T500RS for a couple of days now and there is a clicking / ticking sound when I turn the wheel left or right (not plugged in) the faster you turn the wheel the louder the clicking. Has anybody had this problem before? The clicking is there even when the wheel is plugged in (PS3 and PC) but you only hear it when you counter steer.

undefinablereasoning lucky you, here in Australia the g29 is $380 with the h shifter and a game but the t500 is $1,000. A bit depressing lol
Screamo Head
Yeah Aussie and NZ get hit hard by shipping/tarrifs.
So, any cooments on this?
just on a guess what do you think the fanatec carrera would score on the shibami because that's the wheel i'm gonna be getting so i'm curious
@simracingtonight Have you tried mounting the pedals to a playseat? From the looks of it, maybe the GT style would work better and hopefully it fixes the awkward positioning of the pedals. Had to buy the T500 after seeing your reviews, sad thing is I just got my G27... DOH!
@deperer Yeah it was a bummer. I think I read at GT Planet that the latest patch would have rotation adjustment for the T500..
Doh I just bought T500 about two weeks ago its cool with the F1 wheel
Now I will go and eat my words from this above comment Doh
Hey guys i have a quick question. Have you guys ever experienced what seems like the belt jumping teeth making a gear grinding type sound and then the wheel going out of alignment? This happened to me the other night while making a opposite correction in iracing. Waiting on customer service but would like to know what you guys experience has been. Thanks!
Should be noted that Logitech Wheels work under linux, Thrusmaster T500Rs does not. Making driver support better by logitech.
Very professional!!!! But i'd like to hear how much noise it makes...
Hi InsideSimRacing,
Just want to know your honest opinion.
I will get a steering wheel this weekend.
im choosing between Fanatec Porsche 911 GT3 vs Thrustmaster T500RS
i will get one of those for similar price.
Fanatec Porsche 911 GT3 RS V2 Wheel
Fanatec CSR Pedal
$462
Thrustmaster T500 RS limited
$435
please give me your honest opinion about the two in terms of
- realistic feel (ForceFeedback)
- durability
because i read some reviews regarding thrustmaster easily broke.
thank you and more power..
I found a used T500RS for 200e. I think its a great deal, but is it better than g29? How does it perform in 2018?
Thrustmaster making a decent wheel.... that will be a first
Its still works well
Do you think you could get better laptimes with this wheel, over a g27 on gt5 road circuits?
This wheel would be ideal for pc and ps3 racers however more and more games are coming out without support for either of these wheels for instance the new nfs rivals game. This is very frustrating when all this hype is building up to a big letdown, so for now I will wait for each game to come out before buying it. No more buying games before they come out so I can get freebies the hell with freebies if you cant play the game with you favorite wheel.
Thanks Chris.p
I'll have two .. thank you very much .
PS3RUclips works again.. can watch in awesome 1080p again. It was because of RUclips changes I guess. I was worried there for a while.
how long is the camping surface of the wheel? (the surface that Lies on top of the table)
@Ghostca Yeah I'd be a lot more interested if I could get the wheel by it self. I have a feeling they wouldn't charge much less though.
my next wheel.
Question:
From your other review of the T3PA-Pro pedals, you said that the main difference is the conical brake mod which is included in the T3PA pro, so i believe i am correct in assuming that the stock T500rs pedals (while the same as the t3pa pro) doesnt have the connical brake mod.
Now, im in a bind if i should just buy the t300rs and the trpa pro, because spending on the t500rs and then buy the t3pa pro with the conical mod is not financialy wise.
Until i saw this.
www.thebrakemod.com/
i need your input
thanks
Chiekotz P They are both great setups. I lean towards the T300 as it seems to turn a little bit faster which aids with countersteer.
Is the two different t500rs one for ps4 an another one for ps4 or could I run the Ps 3 one on ps4 without any drive hubs
How is the T500rs durability? Are they in general lasting a couple of years?
Emanuel Morén got a year on mine. Sucks
Thanks.
Hi

man sucks that i'm cheap...i think i'll stick with my Driving Force GT for now, it does the job
Wouldve gotten this wheel, but I needed x360 compatibility and using a wheelstand, so its GT2/cs pedals for me... when it comes back in stock. Any chance the T500 could be made x360 compatible through a future firmware update?
@timandmichele Yes on the PC and on the PS3 it works with no FFB
21:02 I was like, helloooo miss Lopez! o.0
Thank you simracing team's you The best channel for sim gamers. I own gt2 but i still perfer my Logitech G25, i think GT2 its so sold and heavy wheel in game and stupid centering in alll race time.
question: would this wheel be compatible with a 6-speed H-pattern shifter from fenetec, or that from the G27? for me, if it's not, it's not worth it.
Just got my T500RS, still getting used to it.. a bit dissapointed with the feedback in GT5, I'm not convinced just yet.. it's pretty good though.
