In the U.S. when a house sells the the previous owner usually has 30 to 60 days to move out. What a job! How nice that you can create a laundry, storage, etc, room downstairs. I wonder when the man is going to leave the property. He is really an extreme case. He is very ill. You need the assistance of the Council/Marie to move him into a temporary place. It is a sad story, but not unusual, I expect. He does not want to get the message. Poor chap. Don't confuse him, please, by getting him food and letting him stay in your house on your electricity/water/council bill. He will never snap out of his lethargy this way. It is a sad story. I wish you well. Hopefully, all will be resolved soon. Fingers crossed.

Great job Y2 - we did simular clean out with a beloved aunt, who now is safe in a senior appartment - but the time and energi we put into the ´job´ - ohhh my - so many ´visits´ and as carefully we could, as you already have experienced, is necessary. We did similar - move to France (once in 2004 5yrs and again in 2018), buy, sell houses to live as we dont work, albeit at the other end of the market and other and of France (NW). The mental illness he is dealing with is not easy for Anyone involved. I can tell you personally it’s very hard and painful dealing with this kind of situation. I really,really think you are going to need professional support to move this very ill man. It doesn’t seem that he is capable of organizing his next steps. And if he is, he is taking advantage of your kindness. You and Ryan are doing all the work for him. He was probably forced to sell the house because he wasn’t paying his association fees. I hope they are very appreciative of the work you and Ryan are doing. You’ve just improved the over all complex by a few thousand!

Because you have done what you can, and need to find him a place to move to. This might help get him on the road to more recovery, also help find him a therapist. I have a loved one with OCD and wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. Many people think of people with OCD as being clean and tidy and that simply is not the case. The OCD actually prevents them from cleaning and keeping things tidy. Thank you for shedding some light on this issue and the true reality of it. I hope he can get help because it is hard to find qualified help for OCD.

I really,really think you are going to need professional support to move this very ill man. It doesn’t seem that he is capable of organizing his next steps. And if he is, he is taking advantage of your kindness. You and Ryan are doing all the work for him. He was probably forced to sell the house because he wasn’t paying his association fees. I hope they are very appreciative of the work you and Ryan are doing. You’ve just improved the over all complex by a few thousand!

Wow. I owned 20 properties and I can tell you what you are doing is above and beyond what most anyone else would do. Can I suggest you find a service and help him find a place and services for him. Because you have done what you can, and need to find him a place to move to. This might help get him on the road to more recovery, also help find him a therapist. You have some wings in heaven waiting for you.

Such compassion from you both for the elderly Gentleman. I hope he finds somewhere nice to live. He really can't stay living in a demolition sight. Hope he realises this. Do they have care homes where he will be safe and well looked after. Just a thought.

I have a loved one with OCD and wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. Many people think of people with OCD as being clean and tidy and that simply is not the case. The OCD actually prevents them from cleaning and keeping things tidy. Thank you for shedding some light on this issue and the true reality of it. I hope he can get help because it is hard to find qualified help for OCD.
