It is a natural development of things that the group, who made a career out of preaching, now literally has preaching in their songs... PS: I 'm not saying anything about the political situation depicted in the video, about which I know very little. It's the most beautiful song they've ever made. I often called a lot of what they do "healing metal" because there are very few songs in existence that do this sort of thing, and most of it is from Gojira.
I would completey disagree with your statement about "very few songs in existence that do this sort of thing" when referring to healing. Killswitch Engage - End of Heartache, My Curse, Linkin Park - Numb, Pushing Me Away, Metallica - Low Man's Lyric, Momma Said Iced Earth - Watching over Me, Melancholy Mushroomhead - Portraits of the Poor, Save Us, Lamb of God - Grace... that's just off the top of my head. @@Cheximus Gojira, with their song Amazonia, has pledged it's entire revenue, along with some a rather successful auction campaign ( featuring many collectables from many famous artists), to benefit indigenous Amazon tribes. Also, with this song, they are spreading the word about how some sections of our world is treated. I am from India, and I was not entirely aware of what the situation was. Also, the current government in India is not particularly entertained about the whole refuge situation. Experiencing how badly these people were treated , atleast to me, has given a new perspective about the whole situation. And that's just me; I am sure many people are seeing or hearing about these things for the first time. It influences them. So yes, thoughts counts.
@@Earthgazer well, it is not about being unaware of. For example, you might be aware of the fuss that seaspiracy documentary made, which actually convinced quiet a lot of people to be a lot more cautious about where they source their fish from. It is not because they were unaware of these things - but these documentrys / artforms jolts you back to reality. We all are 'aware' of the Uyghurs and Armenians and what have you, but it is an entirely different thing to perhaps be in their shoes for a few moments. Maybe you are someone who feels their agony, perhaps you are someone who spends a lot of time thinking about the social situation of the world. Gojira for me is that sobbing moment when you've gone too deep into a dark place, and its time to come back. Its really incredible how much music can impact wellbeing of the mind and soul. Theres no words to describe this band to do them justice.
I love how, despite how talented and beasty Mario is, he's not afraid to just use the simplest rock beat instead of his usual complex beats for the feeling of the song

As a South Indian, I had always wanted to climb mountains. When i was 18 I went to the Himalayas and got a glace of how paradise on earth can possibly seem, far away from buildings and material stresses. I had begun a life changing entry into listening Metallica. Later that year I performed on stage for the first time. Linkin Park - I've Done. Life changed after this. With the passing of time and tastes, I encountered Gojira very soon and I listened to this song for the first time as I climbed Chamonix in France. It was majestic. True justice to my Gods of Metal. Freedom is a beautiful thing. This music video brought even more to my experience to this song. I came to Gojira for learning the Art of Dying but stayed because of songs like Chant.

I have found myself to be very pessimistic about the state of the world lately, but the message in this song and the album as a whole gives me a feeling of hope and empathy. I think it’s imperative that we, as the human race, “get strong” act upon those feelings.
we shall act accordingly with the feelings, not upon them. the whole modern world dictates you to suppress your feelings, and become a machine; we ought to not disregard our feelings, but change this sick insensible world for good.

This brilliant. Fortitude is like a different side of all the members of Gojira: more mature, sensible and spiritual, as if something changed in their lives in these last years. This could be their most intense album.
They said that during the recording of Magma obviously they were going through a lot of personal emotional stuff. However, after that album they became more popular than ever, things were going great for them, Joe got married, had kids... Things were going personally well for them. So it seems that they turned their attention to problems of the world instead, and instead of just writing an angry album, they tried to write something that manages to sound hopeful. It feels like the right sort of music for where they are in life, both as an established band and as grown up individuals. All that being said, I love it, and much love for everyone involved in the making of this album!
This video seems to have been a massive production, so I think that just may be the case. Plus, the teaser uses that handmade drum sound from Fortitude... 🤞🏻

I just looked up the credits for this. Andy Wallace and Ted Jensen did the mixing and mastering. No wonder it sounds so good! Same guys that do Korn, Metallica etc.
Ted Jensen’s mastering is notoriously bad for introducing too much dynamic range compression, but I like Andy Wallace’s mixing so it kinda balances out.
This album is extremely bass heavy in my truck, where I listen to it the most going to and from work. Almost to the point that it washes out any dynamics that you can hear with the volume lower . Not that anyone asked my opinion or anything lol. I just happen to be thinking about it on my ride home today and then opened the RUclips comments …

While I think the notion of selling out is stupid and childish. To me this album marks the definite end of an era. Magma was weak.. and I don't even know what this is. No love lost. They gave me some incredibly important music/experiences over the years.
(presumably) Joe's still doing his fairly oldschool slow fade out on least half the album... so it still feels like it's in good hands :) i got my own tweaked version of the album down to "48:32 - duration" trimming little bits here n there... distilled some might say... it starts off with a merged Fortitude + The Chant... which i really want to call THE FORTITUDE CHANT... (7:18) ... i feel like the band is still hesitant to order the album like you might expect from a concept album etc etc... (instead focusing more on singles first?) so i ended up with this revised list of shorter + EQed + clip fixed* tracks... (by EQed, i mean i barely did anything... +0.8 DB around 80Hz ... and 5kHz + was tapered off just a little gradually... (i like to hear Mario + Jean-Michel a little more) (less ear fatigue listening to it 24/7 lol, sounds the same essentially, perhaps a tad cleaner) ------------------------------------------------ Fort + Chant (***/****) 7:18 Amaz (*****) 4:59 Storm (****) 4:48 Born (*****) 4:17 Grind (****) 5:30 Trails (****) 4:01 Another (*****) 3:23 Found (****) 6:32 Sphinx (****) 3:58 Hold (***) 3:47 i'd share the results considering my satisfaction with them, if only it wasn't potentially going against the band's wishes... It is a natural development of things that the group, who made a career out of preaching, now literally has preaching in their songs...
PS: I 'm not saying anything about the political situation depicted in the video, about which I know very little. But making heavy metal about these things has absolute 0 impact, while at the same time it capitalises on cheap emotional reflexes and gives a fake sense of accomplishment of something noble. It's the most beautiful song they've ever made. I often called a lot of what they do "healing metal" because there are very few songs in existence that do this sort of thing, and most of it is from Gojira.
I'd go with "Born in Winter" or "The Shooting Star", but this one is definitely up there.
So yes, thoughts counts.
oof. If millions of people are unaware that the CCP imprisons Tibetans, education may be in bigger trouble than I imagined.
But the sad reality is that, not everyone is living the same life. I am ashamed of my blind eye towards these things, but i fight my own battles. I was honestly moved by this song. I am sure alot more are. And when was the last time your education system taught you about the plight of Tibetans ??

However, after that album they became more popular than ever, things were going great for them, Joe got married, had kids... Things were going personally well for them. One of my favourite ever gojira tunes is born in winter so I definitely appreciate clean singing.. this new stuff just feels a little careful to me. I still have absolute respect for them tho. No love lost. They gave me some incredibly important music/experiences over the years.
In order to get their message out they need attention from mainstream.
(presumably) Joe's still doing his fairly oldschool slow fade out on least half the album... so it still feels like it's in good hands :)
i got my own tweaked version of the album down to "48:32 - duration" trimming little bits here n there... distilled some might say...
it starts off with a merged Fortitude + The Chant... which i really want to call THE FORTITUDE CHANT... (7:18) ...
i feel like the band is still hesitant to order the album like you might expect from a concept album etc etc...
(instead focusing more on singles first?) so i ended up with this revised list of shorter + EQed + clip fixed* tracks...
(by EQed, i mean i barely did anything...
+0.8 DB around 80Hz ...
and 5kHz + was tapered off just a little gradually...
(i like to hear Mario + Jean-Michel a little more)
(less ear fatigue listening to it 24/7 lol, sounds the same essentially, perhaps a tad cleaner)

i'd share the results considering my satisfaction with them, if only it wasn't potentially going against the band's wishes...
(edit: over the years just got into a habit of fan-remastering the Gojira Albums lol? well if i had access to the Multi-tracks i would go deeper)
I am grateful for the Indian traders that smuggled the beautiful Tibetan people out of the country. That was a tremendous act of compassion, risking oneself to bring innocent people to safety. Courage born of love. 🙏
"You can run high then climb up the sky."
Now that is a quote to go by.
Leave the mud behind and climb up the sky *
9 A.M. is way too early to be crying. Couldn't have dropped this at noon, huh?
Those Frenchmen teaching us, the Asians about our history is the most amazing thing. 🔥
Yup, the whole continent has no idea about Tibet or His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama... hey, would you like to tell everyone about the Panchen Lama ? Or self-immolation ? Yeah, go ahead. Start with the Gang of Four ...
Much love, from France
This world doesn't deserve Gojira and this world doesn't deserve to exist without Gojira.
My grandfather survived the holocaust because his parents sent him away before the Nazis came. This music video makes me tear up every time. Seeing the Man look back at his homeland as an adult is so sad and beautiful at the same time
Genocide is ever a tool of the Left, which is precisely what the Nazis were - Leftists.
@@vaughnblaylock6069 @Vaughn Blaylock Not sure if this is trolling but I'll bite....
Genocide is a tool that can be used by both sides of the political spectrum to whichever government is in power at the time. It was used against European Jews, ethnic Armenians, Bosnian Muslims, The Yazidis, Tutsi minorities, Indigenous Americans, and dozens upon dozens of other ethnic and religious groups that were deemed by the ruling government as either subhuman, invaders, or inferior to the general population. Currently there are 3 going in the world which are the Rohingya in Myanmar, the Uyghur in China, and the Western Sudanese in Darfur. Any government can carry out a genocide as long as the general population doesn't resist against it. So to say its only a tool of the left leaning political ideologies is preposterous...
But I have a question for you...
If the Nazi's were leftists, why were they anti-communist?
@@AesopTwin You're wasting your time responding to that ignorant fool.
@@vaughnblaylock6069 even if they were leftists how would that be what fueled their desire to commit genocide, didn't know that people as close minded and dumb as you even listened to gojira

Victims of fear and deception
Get a hold of yourself, rise above
A better part of you, immortal
May this firstborn spring flow into your soul
Exhausting all these black holes inside
Wake up to the sound of doom
Let this chant ring in your bones and lift you up
Get strong

Gojira are doing more than simply making heavy metal, they're impacting the world through spirituality and highlighting real issues.
Thank you for showing it. As an Indian from Himachal Pradesh, India. I grew up with Tibetans in exile. Even had some school friends.
Thank you for highlighting their issue.
