  • Gippsland GA-8-TC320 Airvan C-GIPU is seen taxiing and taking off from CZNL, Nelson, British Columbia. This was a really cool catch for me, and the first time I've even heard of one of these Gippslan single-pistons! Slightly resembling a Cessna Caravan, the GA8 is built in Australia (Leth, have you ever seen any of these around?) and I don't think there are too many in Canada.

    I've never seen one of those before, it reminds me of the Cessna 208. Great Catch!

      It really does look like a little Cessna Caravan. This was the first and only one of these that I ever spotted.

    The Airvans come in boxes to Olympia and are assembled there.
    This one was flown to Buttonville near Toronto, and I flew it back to Boundary Bay BC.
    I am the pilot in this video :)
    There are two more Airvans to come onto the Canadian register soon.

      That's good to hear, hopefully they'll pass through Nelson along the way! Must have been quite the trip ferrying this aircraft from Buttonville all the way to Boundary Bay.

    Nice take off ! 9 was killed 3 days ago in a crash in Sweden with GippsAero GA8 Airvan at 14th of July 2019 . It was falling from 4000 meters , 12000 feet.

    Actually, they are quite common. The US Civil Air Patrol has about 20 of them. They are all over Hawaii and Africa flying sightseeing tours (huge windows) and they are used commonly in Australia in the Outback and to fly to Tasmania.

    • @TheHDAviation
      @TheHDAviation  10 лет назад +2

      They're still really rare up here in Canada, this is actually the only one registered in the whole country. Hopefully there will be more flying around up here soon!

    It's so fun riding in flying vans, it's sad that most people who like flying cars are missing out on the fact that they already exist.

    Is ice protection an option? They need to put EPS Graflight V-8 diesel in it. And as an option for the stretch GA10 too.

    I grounded all these planes in July 2019. Too dangerous.. Falling from sky. Us aussies should stick to gay rights instead if copying the Americans.

    • @andrewwalton8822
      @andrewwalton8822 6 месяцев назад

      It was found that it had been operated outside its design specification. The plane itself isn't dangerous. The way it was flown was.
