I remember as a kid when this game released my parents couldn't afford a PS2 for me. So I went to a local toy store and literally played the PS2 in there which had the matrix on it. I would stay from open to close. The staff never complained, infact they would let me keep playing until they had completely finished their work and were locking the front shutters. This game blew me away the graphics seemed so real, and the gameplay was nothing we had ever experienced before during the PS1 days. Modern gaming just hasn't got those wonderful surprises anymore :(

Great story about your childhood. Virtual Reality seems to be the next level, they have really made advances in that field.. So I think there are still a lot of surprises to come in gaming. It'll probably get to the point one day where there will be total immersion so the gaming world will be as real as the real world.

I was super into the matrix as a kid, I remember playing this game over and over. The combat and story still stands up to this day, and I loved how it tied into the movie back in the day. Fond memories of this and Path of Neo!

I have no idea how we hardly get games with combat like this nowadays. It's all so mediocre now. It's all FPS crap.
The combat was actually satisfying if you knew how to do it right. Like ninja gaiden
This game was honestly a pretty earnest attempt to capture the feeling of the action in the movies. Control schemes for games were less standardized back then, so every game slightly re-invented the wheel with its control scheme.
Basic stuff like using the left analog stick to move and the right stick for the camera was pretty much solid, but a lot of the subtleties and nuances that we take for granted now were still being developed.
The controls in this game aren't _great,_ but they work a lot better and accomplish a lot more than you would think upon first playing. It's actually kind of crazy how much this game plays like the Max Payne Kung Fu 3.0 mod, which itself was inspired by The Matrix movies.
Early 2000's was like the golden age of bullet time in gaming. This, Max Payne, and Dead to Rights were my favorites.

I remember having this game for my GameCube that I got for Christmas in 4th grade and my parents didn’t know what a memory card was so i remember replaying the first two hours of the story probably thirty times over before understanding that I needed an memory card to be able to save the game. Other than that this game was a fucking badass game. In 2003-04 this was awesome gameplay.

The audio was sooooo good on this game. Felt like they took it straight from the movie. The sound effects when you would hit somebody were so satisfying. The music was adrenalin pumping, the way it sounded when you would slow down time. Running and jumping off of walls. It all just felt sooo damn good. Wish they still made games that made you feel the way this one did.
The ground kick to body crumple/slide across the floor and the wall running were superb.
I really miss these graphics in games.

I remember playing the 2 player mode and fighting as agent Smith. I kept discovering new moves. Still one of the best fighting games I've ever played. So damn creative. Gunplay was awesome as well

Just picked this up. Got Enter the Matrix and Path of Neo on PS2 @ Lukie Games. Played Enter the Matrix for hours upon hours when I was younger. Great mechanics, story, etc.
I was but a little kid about 6 to 7 year old,got this game on my first ps2 and even if I didn't knew nothing about matrix when i was that young I still to this day have one of my most vivid memories with this game
Waking up on a rainy greysky'd day taking a hot breakfast to endure the cold and going strait to the ps2 to play the first level over and over again...which I had a new copy to play now

Licensed IP games were often a meme in the 2000s, but every now and then we got ones like this that were actually quite good.
This is one of the funnest games I've ever played. It's in my top 10 to this day.
