Exactly, the Matrix is tinged with a green mood palette suggestive of the early monochromatic cathode computer monitors that the Wachowski's wanted to create, so audiences could immediately identify where the action was occurring through the use of such a colour scheme. For the Real world on the Neb they tinged the lights with blue.

This is the kind of realistically immersive virtual world I've been dreaming of ever since I first started gaming in 1997. It took 25 years for me to experience this. I wonder how much more realistic virtual worlds would be in the next 25 years!
Unreal Engine 5.1 just came out and it looks even more insane and realistic then this and that's only in 8 months time. It's pretty amazing what's rendered in real time. The next 25 years is going to be even more crazy in terms of progression. I would imagine the next 25 years will progress so fast that it will be like 100 years of the previous progress. Things will take off so fast with Quantum computing once we get full AI. AI will be able to learn and advance things way faster then human innovation ever did. That it won't be long before innovation is done by AI itself. Things will start to advance and progress at that point at ridiculous speed.

@@thevipergaming1028 I was born in 1974 and I've lived through the progression of gaming since PONG on the first electronic games machine I ever had (An orange binatone TV games console with 5 games all puck controlled and all just the same moving dot and the paddles. It also came with a light gun but my parents hid that and I never even saw until I found it in a cupboard in the mid 80s.
The 80s was when I got into computers proper. Dad had a ZX 80 though I never even used it. We had a ZX81 and at 7 I showed an interest in it. Dad tried to code some games for it out of the manual and together we were hopeful then disappointed when it di finally run and it was a rubbish game. Laterally he got some actual software for the ZX81 and I remember playing a few games and programs on it. We got a spectrum not long after and that computer really captivated me. I learned to code on that in basic and some very few assembler code. Mostly I played games on it but I did experiment with basic and making my own games.
We went through all the spectrums: Spectrum+ Spectrum 128 etc and I had a ton of peripherals. I borrowed a Currah Micro speech at one point and that blew me away.
I had a twin microdrive setup with interface 1 I had an interface 2 clone that allowed Kempston joysticks and cartridges. Never saw a cartridge. I had 2 printers. 1 Bog roll silver paper ZX Printer and also an american Whitepaper Timex variant on the ZX printer.
After playing an apple Mac in school I asked for a spectrum mouse for my Christmas and got one. It had it's own interface and came with a painting program and an API that I never invested enough time into to write any software.
Not long after the Mouse Xmas My mother bought a home PC for her home run business. It was an Amstrad PC1640 20mb HD ECD.
That computer changed my life.
PC Compatible and Shareware was a thing and at the time a really big thing. I started buying magazines with 5 1/4 discs on the cover with shareware on them.
I got really into Dos TSR programs that would lurk in memory until you triggered them and suddenly you exited dos into a full fledged functional Shell UI that worked way better than Dos. QD.exe was my favourite.
I also got into big corporate integrated packages like Lotus Symphony and GFX programs like Harvard Graphics.
Eventually I went to Uni to study computing and the 1640 went with me allowing me to run Turbo Pascal and Turbo C to write my courseworks on.
Also Turbo Assembler.
By now it was 1992 and the bare metal programming of X86 was still taught at Uni. We did a whole module on X86 assembly programming and especially 8250 UART interface for external devices but it only lasted a couple of years before Windows took over and access to the bare metal was outlawed in favour of OS calls to politely request memory and streams to devices.
I've been a professional programmer for 20+ years now and I still love it.
Still fascinated with new technology but also have a deep interest in the past and how we got here.
It's such a trip and having lived through a chunk of it I can appreciate the crazy rapid progress we've made.
Excited for the future.
Luv and Peace.

Agreed
They built this map based on a real-world scale. It really makes a huge difference!
@@Lucas-hh4oh It looks like a bizarro version of SF.
I've never gotten uncanny valley from landscapes before, but some of the driving footage at the end came close. It felt like watching live footage but the fixed camera was twisting my brain.
i'm in tears... remember when we got our first nintendo NES 35 years ago
You can still feel something is off with the faces of the characters, but we are so close!
The world on the other hand is fenomenal!
Yeah. Faces are still the hardest thing to get perfect. There are just to many tiny details that are hard to catch right.
It's mostly the animations. Could be fixed if they spent more time rigging those Metahuman models.
But things like the mirror shot are almost indistinguishable
the lip synch is the main thing imo
Movement of the lips is hard to make. Lips are the main problem.
I love that they seem to have made the inside of buildings detailed in 3d. So… the clarity looking through the windows no longer looks like 2d “flat” or hazy image.
It makes a big difference.
Not a new trick, TBH. A lot of devs are faking it in UE4 already, but watching all this I'm getting the feeling that most of the UE5 capabilities are evolutionary rather than revolutionary. The ability to handle more of the stuff we already have instead of apparent gamechangers.
Fs2020 also does this
Parallax occlusion mapping. Spiderman used it a lot.
^ Yeah. Easy shader to make at this point. All it takes is a cubemap and you're good to go really.
@@AlexTuduran No, that is for surface detail. These are 360° Cubemaps used as 'mini interior'. Completely different.
Came back here to see how this would look on a Switch successor if the rumors were true haha
amazing. Well done Unreal, been a fan since the first game, definately lived up to the hype with the graphics beauty, and now look atcha! Bravo. Bravo.
This is getting insane how real these games are starting to look !
Almost looks like 'The Burly Brawl' multiple Agent Smiths fight scene!
I love your trippie profile pic haha
Just in time for META. Jim Stone points out they have probably been throttling performance for years.
Scary
It's cause we are here closer to the ark
Ok this is probably the first time I see something actually ‘next gen’ that I can’t imagine being done on a PS4.
Absolutely mind blowing stuff.
And what a time to be alive. Matrix is back!
Technically it can be done, using ue5, the lumen lighting system probably not, but nanite should work, and thats what really is the game change.
@@paulownsall94 no it's better illumination. Not nano. The illumination uses more advanced post process shaders. Camera work is better as well. That's about it. No nano or lumen
@@holoduke51a reread what i typed you
@@holoduke51a i was referring to lumen not working on ps4 due to the cost, i know its global illumination, idk what your response was trying to imply, also the matrix experience is using lumen and nanite, you have no idea what you are talking about. I have extensive experience with ue4 and ue5, I was stating through my testing the generation and fidelity of the assets should be possible on ps4 using nanite, but was noting the lighting wouldnt be the same as ps4 likely would be unable to utilize lumen. You should really do some research into topics before commenting nonsense.
So demon souls and ratchet and clank aren’t next gen enough for you?
Love how this video is so unreal and meta at the same time.
That looks amazing!
This has so much potential, looks so promising about the next-gen of games.
Also, finally a decent Matrix Game lmao, looking forward to more of this ;)
I liked all of the Matrix games. They technically “sucked” and the first one was a critical flop, but they were awesome!
_Enter the Matrix_ had a brilliant sub-plot and two compelling side characters. And it was incredibly fun. It took the formula for _Max Payne_ and blew it out the water!
_Path of Neo_ was more of the same. It had even more insane action, was bonkers, and bloody good fun. Was it janky and ridiculous? Yes. Did it feel railroaded at times, yeah- but it was a linear narrative shooter! Regardless, it was really good fun.
I’d like to call out an unsung hero of this incredible demonstration: music. Here’s to the writers of this legendary score. You’ve not been mentioned yet that I’ve seen. But your contribution to to the movie and demo are fundamental! Here’s to all the game music writers out there
This score was absolutely legendary 🙏
I wish that exploration music was available for download
Check > Rob Dougan
Yeeeesss! Don Davis, Rob Dougan, Juno Reactor, and many, many more.
Are you ABSOLUTELY SURE the music wasn't generated by an AI?
Absolutely beautiful. Also, The Matrix is great for this concept.
The last metrex game was brilliant. . I do love open world games. Looks good.👍😊
This needs to be a full game!!!
Impressive, although the introduction was meant to trick our eyes the difference in transition between the real Keanu and computer generated one is still easily noticeable. We are getting closer to the realism when it comes to environments and lighting, but we are not quite there yet regarding the actual people.
it is called the uncanny valley. the more realistic the renderings get, the more our bullshit radars go off. They could actually make this photorealistic by applying a filter and running it at a lower resolution.
@@douglasmurphy3266 damn shame they didn't have you working on this project, you figured it out eh

I noticed that too. And as good as it gets, unfortunately there's still some catching up to do.
Shadows cast by bypassers on the street ( 9:30 and on) are not what you'd expect in real life. Yet.
There are still the obvious performance limitations put up by the hardware that will render those scenes for us end customers. You can develop it all you want to perfection on a render farm. You'll still be limited by what hardware offerings your customer will have at hand.
Congratulations to all of the UE5, movie studios and console manufacturers staff anyway. They've brought The Matrix one step closer to dislodging reality.
Still get goosebumps whenever I listen to the matrix's OST
Me too.

@John Landin 245 even if it did it wont be the same as cyberpunk. This game is far better than most
They’re so close to figuring out uncanny valley. Very impressive indeed.
At least in the uncanny we can still know we aren't in the Matrix
When they manage to figure out the eyes, it will be a real fucking problem. Like, even in this demo, when they wear glasses, i barely can tell this is in game. But without them, there is something off about it that instantly makes me know it’s not real.
That's the only thing in this video who make me think " this isn't real", the rest of the video , I can't make the difference between real shot and CGI, very impressive indeed !
@@Kait0s The eyes are a window to the soul. Perhaps thats the reason why.
