Source and Summit - Holy Thursday Homily 2022

  • Friends, last night I offered Mass for Holy Thursday, which commemorates Christ’s gift of his Divine life and presence in the Holy Eucharist. It is through the Holy Eucharist that we participate in the Lord Jesus’ offering of himself for our sake through his suffering and death. It is through this participation that we can become ever more like the Lord Jesus, whose Divine Life and presence we receive in the Blessed Sacrament.
    Let us pray that our reverence for the Holy Eucharist will increase and that our reception of this most sacred mystery of our faith will enliven our hearts to be moved with compassion for the Suffering Christ who continues to make himself present to us in the afflicted bodies of his beloved poor.

    Our good God and the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, we.. are.. Christ. We are in Him and He is in us. This homily regenerates the spiritual sinews of the broken body of Christ. Healing His body, soul by soul, lifts humanity from the dead. Persona Christi, you are, I see Him. The Holy Spirit breathes His life into yours. The Way is truely known to you, and the Light from Light shines well within your soul. May our loving God grant you a Simon to help carry your servant-shepherd cross, many souls are saved by your sacrificial life. May Mary, the Mother of all priests, never leave you side. Agape.

  • @Barbaramamato

    We're seeing the resurrection in light of the crucifixion. Bishop Robert Barron, how often would Mary's first question at the Annunciation, How can it be?, have been repeated by Mary, the Apostles, and by the disciples? When Mary held her sons dead body, How can this be? When St. Mary of Magdalene and St. Peter first saw the empty tomb, How can it be? When the resurrected Jesus appeared "in the breaking of the bread" on the road to Emmaus, How can this be? Isn't this because Our Lord God is always here? If Jesus, the Son of God, was ever once here, then, wouldn't God's presence always be with us? For is it not "in the breaking of the bread" that Jesus Christ is present in His body in which Christ Jesus Himself presides at every Mass?

    Bishop Barron: it would be so helpful if you could explain what gives solely the Catholic Priest the ability to concentrate the hosts. (Or point me in the direction of a good answer). My wife is not Catholic (however she is a wonderful woman of Faith) and she gets “hung up” the most with the idea of the Eucharist being solely a Catholic institution. Thank you for your ministry. It is impossible to describe the help and Grace it has given me over the years. May God continue to bless you and your ministry.

    • @joshuahintz579
      @joshuahintz579 2 года назад

      @@brendamyc3057 that’s about what I had suspected. I use the term “Apostolic lineage” to describe the “trail of authority” bestowed upon the initiation of the Holy Orders ordination. I suspect that was instituted by Christ at Pentecost, but I suppose that would be my next question: was the authority to Consecrate the Eucharist given to the apostles at Pentecost? (And then, having been given the Authority of God by God (Christ), did the apostles subsequently pass that Authority on to others through what we now call the ordination of the Holy Orders?)

    Thank you for speaking bilingually. I used to think of the eucharist as barbaric because I can feel in my bones the barbarous historical roots during the enactment of the ritual. Jesus was borrowing the practice of shaktipat from the east. Jesus was about to to be murdered on the cross so he needed a way for his disciples to continue to communicate in spirit after his absence. It was a spiritual Hail Mary. Only his advanced disciples and those who can see in the spirit through the heart can receive this eucharist or shaktipat. To most, like me, it is like water flowing off a duck's back.

    If everyone, all the baptized, fully knows, not merely by the senses, yet rather, an interior grace, that God sees all and knows the thoughts, actions and feelings of all, every moment of every day, how would lives be changed and be different? This is what constant prayer does. St. Paul said, pray without ceasing. How does Jesus know the will of God The Father unless he is constantly praying? Look to the Saints as examples of lives in constant prayer. See without the veil of all that obscures the sense that God is omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. In a word, ubiquitous. Be infused with constant concern for doing the will of God and ask Him to know His will for you at each moment.
