Father, this will be my first Easter. Ever. I left the Jehovah Witnesses and Christ has called me to HIS Church!
Welcome!!!
Welcome! Our Lord is Risen! Happy Easter to you!!!
@jordanissport….God Bless and may our Lord be with us
Thank you for this! I am in RCIA and can’t wait to experience Christ’s love and understanding this Holy Week 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I am confirmed a week from Saturday! This was awesome to see!
As a boy, I went to a Franciscan church on Holy (Maundy) Thursday, and the friar came up to me before mass and said, "I want to wash your feet!" I thought to myself, "Are my feet clean?" Eventually, I gave in. The Franciscans became a part of my life that day, almost 50 years now.
im getting baptized this Saturday :-)
Congratulations!!! Thousands upon thousands will be with you in prayer!!!
My family and I are becoming catholic/ joining the catholic church after being raised protestant/ Baptist... and my kids being baptized I'm so excited
@@PeskyWabbit. congratulations and welcome to the one true church. Read up on the church fathers and follow scott hahn, Steve ray, bishop barron, Keith Nestor. May the lord and holy mother bless you and your family as you walk in the catholic faith
@@PeskyWabbit. Awesome! I came straight from atheism/agnosticism. I think coming from a Protestant background is more difficult - big respect to u guys :•)
Awesome. God is good. Welcome home
I have admit that these three days are my favorite days of Mass.
Mass is not celebrated on Good Friday
@@johnking5174 you're correct. Good Friday is part of the Triduum, however.
@@karenkushla3975 Yes, but the celebration of Mass is not permitted, just distribution of communion which was consecrated on Holy Thursday evening. The first Mass after Holy Thursday is held during the Easter Vigil.
In our Church, the Paschal Vigil took at least 3 hours. I do not complain.
My son n my husband are getting their sacraments this Saturday ❤ we are all new to the catholic faith
I hope it all went well last night. Happy Easter!
Two years later, and this video is still relevant
It always will be
Now it's five.
I was an emcee for the Paschal Triduum at my parish. I agree, this beautiful celebration of the Paschal Triduum is spiritually exhausting (and physically - I spent a total of 19 hours in churches over that weekend). On Maundy Thursday, my youth group joined in the ancient tradition of church-hopping and then ended with a stunning Tenebræ service at the University of Notre Dame. On Good Friday, I witnessed people fall before the crucifix and kiss the Wounds which saved us. Then, on Holy Saturday, I was blessed to be able welcome into the Church the elect. I was able to once again return to joy as Christ rose from the dead. As exhausting as the Triduum can be, Brother, you are correct, it is the greatest "show" of all. It makes me and the many other teens from my youth group proud to be Catholic.
Me, discovering what it means to be Catholic, after a lifetime of lukewarm religion and agnosticism:
"I don't understand this power, but I will."
Have you listened to Fr.Ripperger? He insists on 'Grace" to make meaning of all our spiritality.
Oh yes.God helped me through Fr Ripperger to stay in the church when I was on the verge of leaving. Now all I want to do is become a Saint...
I watch this because I want to know (remember) what is going to happen tomorrow. I’m from Malaysia (Eastern) so tomorrow is Maunday Thursday... thank you for sharing Fr.
I’m Episcopalian, but the Triduum is still an extremely important part of the liturgical year, THE most, in fact. From the institution of the Eucharist to the sorrow and mourning of Good Friday, to the proclamation “Alleluia, Christ is risen! The Lord is risen indeed, Alleluia!”at the vigil, it is all an amazing experience, no matter how many times you go through it.
This video was wonderful and since this was made in 2018 has meaning for me. After starting RCIA in 2016, I became fully initiated, at age 50, into the Catholic Church in 2018 at the Easter Vigil.
Yes, the Triduum is amazing and a blessing. Being a Lector/reader during the masses is such a blessing and honor!
This richly touched me and brought tears to my eyes....thank you.
Thanks!
This year was my first experiance with the Triduum and it was incredible! I went through the ceremony and was confirmed with the chrism oil that I received from the bishop for my church at the High Chrism Mass a week before hand. The whole Process was amazing and will forever be an important part of my life! Thanks for sharing your Easter with us! Alleluia! He is risen!!
Wonderful! Joyful Easter!
👍🏻❤️
I am sad in this year we celebrate Easter Mass just stay home. Lord have mercy on us & all over the world. Thanks Brother for this reflections begin our Easter 2020 with silence & deep reflections what Jesus Christ want us in this time of crisis about Covid 19.🙏🙏🙏😭
This year's Vigil was a blessing in so many ways. I read the word of the Lord during the mass and also sponsored my Godson/Nephew for his Confirmation!!
The darkness has been swept away by His light. Hallelujiah!
SuperMerlinsbeard Catholicism is a lie you need to know the gospel
@@catholicshow1553 The Church is the Mystical Body of Christ living out His Gospel with our lives and proclaiming it to all the peoples of the world.
2021 Will have full churches after the good work you put in this video THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH !THANK YOU FATHER CASEY AND HAPPY EASTER IT WILL BE A GREAT EASTER THIS YEAR!!!!!
Too me; this is definitely the greatest show on earth. I must go, hopefully next year!
We share glory in the cross of our lord jesus christ.
I came into the Church in 2016 & each year since then have served on the rcia team. It has been an absolutely amazing experience to walk with our brothers and sisters in their journey to Christ. My favorite part of the vigil is when we sing the Gloria, with the bells and the lights are turned on. It makes my heart swell with joy. Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!!! ✝✝✝
Thank you for your service to the Church!
@@BreakingInTheHabit thank you for your informative videos on Easter i hope you give your first Easter homily.
Can I just make it clear - The Church of England and indeed the Anglican Communion observe and celebrated the Easter Triduum too - we have the same "high church" liturgy as the Catholic Church, with incense, colourful vestments, Latin chant and the basic ceremonies of the Catholic Church is celebrated in our communion too - I wonder how many Catholics know that???
So excited😃 I will be one of those up on the alta next year being baptised and receiving holy communion and all that good stuff😊😊. Just thinking about it is making me tear up🥲
Thank you for inspiring me Br. Casey. I am about to join the Franciscan in a month. Please keep inspiring more people. 👍🏻
God bless you always!
God bless you.
Thanks so much for sharing, explaining. Been Catholic my whole life and just now learning about Jesus church.
The Mass on Easter Sunday is also a part of the Triduum (Technically, the Triduum does not end until the evening of Easter Sunday, with the conclusion of Vespers (i.e., Evening Prayer)), but is more or less the same length and structure as the average Sunday Mass, with a couple of differences (For example, the chanting of the Sequence, after the Second Reading, but before the Gospel Acclamation (the Alleluia), and after the Homily, the Renewal of Baptismal Promises (in place of the Profession of Faith), followed by the Sprinkling Rite).
Also, at the Liturgy of the Lord's Passion, on Good Friday, the Intercessions are done in a different way than they are at other Masses.
Watching this on Holy Saturday. There's always something that makes me so emotional about the start of good Friday. Father laying at the foot of the alter. I cry every year.
Thank you Father! Great resources to share with parents and children.
Happy Easter, Alleluia 🙏🏻❤️😇
May God bless you!
Thanks 🙏 ❤Happy Easter! Alleluia!
Wonderful video! After being Catholic for 19 years, last Lent was the first time I'd ever experienced a Good Friday service and veneration of the Cross. It was amazing! I am so sad for all the years I missed.
It was a pleasure to hear you Brother Casey. God bless u
Thanks sir you filled my hearts with joy as I have learnt more about the holy week 🙇♀️🙇♀️
Thank you for another wonderful video to share with my parish families. They are going to love to hear you sing.
So beautiful
Many years ago, I volunteered to became the interim music director at my church beginning with Palm Sunday. (Thankfully, the previous music director provided a month's notice.)
That Easter was the most spiritually fulfilling Easter I have ever had. To prepare for the liturgies, I studied how the Triduum was structured and tried to understand the "why" behind it. Even though my focus was split between the altar, the piano, and directing the choir, I still felt the impact.
It affected me so much, I started crying while playing the "Gloria" at the Easter Vigil.
Your enthusiasm is infectious, Br Casey. This was a truly awesome video and yes, you sing very well!
Thank you for this - it won't grow old. It is a comfort in this time of Covid to be able to review and remember. Next year we will be back to the live show!
Love it! Thanks for sharing with us.
Love your commentaries!
Love listening to you, bro. Casey Cole
What an incredible joyous and uplifting share. Congrats on your first Deacon assignment . Makes me think about doing this next Easter too ! Thank you
I’d never heard of this until my cousin mentioned it a few years ago in passing. I’m brought to tears as I listen to this video, not tears of sorrow necessarily but also of gratefulness for experiencing the depth of God’s love for us his creation.
That was beautiful! 😭🙌🏽❤️
Father my Lent was great and i'm watching this in 2020
Happy Easter Fr Casey....Happy Easter to you all...!!! Love from Indonesia
Thank you. May Jesus bless you!
Z
I know what this is and i get happy waiting for Easter we sing the Gloria for the first time and we all know how glad we get that we are a part of it.
Thank you for this informative and beautiful video.
Great stuff Bro. The Triduum is incredible. Pax et Bonum.
The light has arrived and we rejoice.
Very well said!
It’s the Divine Drama of Salvation unfolding before our very own eyes!
So extraordinary! I’ve never known of this perspective before. It is so powerful.
It's one of the best things about the Church, in my humble opinion!
This is beautiful 😍❤️❤️😍
I love holy week.
Church meeting humor is the most beautiful thing.
I agree with you Brother it is a great show. I'm an altar server and I served in all the tridium so I got to see the show more closely.
I would be disappointed two years ago. But then I learned what typology is. Last year I *actually* paid attention to the readings and the prayers for the Easter Vigil Mass and realized how rich it all is. The prayer over the baptismal font really blew my mind.
In your video, the choir is beautiful!
Finally, something similar happened to the deacon at our parish :) He was asked, on Saturday, to sing the Exsultet. He did a brilliant job with just half an hour of practice (no prior experience) before the Mass :)
It is a truly wonderful liturgy with so much to it. I hear something different every year! And good for your deacon! I know that no one in the world needed me to do that! haha
Too funny! LOL! Thank you for sharing your experience, great video! I found many moments to be so beautiful and very moving! You captured the essence of the special moments. Blessings :)
Beautiful video. A novus ordo mass done well. Triduum full of the majesty and profundity of the heart of Christ’s message and of salvation. Thank you Br. Casey.
I love the Triduum. As the director of music and liturgy at my parish, I had an awesome time planning the Triduum. It is an overwhelming and exhausting preparation for all the people involved. But it is absolutely to loviest services we offer.
Absolutely!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Triduum. Alleluia!! Alleluia!!
You're welcome! Alleluia! Alleluia!
2.34 it gave me chills ❤️
Amazing
Ever since a previous pastor said to the congregation about coming to the whole Triduum, you'll get a good understanding of the season, and I have gone every year since, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil
Great video dear bro. kissing of the cross made me emotional.thanks dear bro..God bless dear bro.
Fr. Casey, I get my feet washed every time I go to the Mass of the Lords supper, our family usually has a family gathering on Holy Thursday, and yes I choose Church over family.
As Beato Carlos Manuel said “Vivimos para esta noche”.
Thank you! This was a great video to show our RCIA candidates preparing for their Sacraments in 2021; especially since we won't be celebrating the Triduum in our Diocese this year (2020)
Thank you brother it helped me understand .. symbols..as we are from different community ..I was not understanding why the candle brought in darkness.. and all ..
It's a most joyful and reflective period. The apice of the salvific mission of Christ. Walking with Christ. Calling all of us to repentance.
Beautiful Song in Thursday. In Poland has been sung: Kingly People, Priestly People. /Ludu Kapłański, Ludu Królewski/ because all of us is a Priest /We have participation in Priesthood, Kinghood and Prophecy of Jesus Christ as the Highest Priest, King and Prophet/.
awesome!
I think that it is one of my favorite times in the Liturgical year as well as Palm Sunday. I always think which person in the scripture am I, and how can I follow Jesus more.
I nusually serve all 3 services of the tridiuum. Father Terry calls me the "incense maven" b/c I'm the server w/ the incense--even at Benediction. We did not have any of these liturgies in 2020 b/c of covid. Cardinal Cupich closed Mass in the middle of March. We watched the cardinal say Easter Mass on TV' renewing Baptismal promises w/ tap water. Let's pray that we can have these this year and our prayers can "rise like incense.
Last year I watch your video on the Triduum and it made me want to attend this year. I just came back to the Church after being gone for 28 years and made it a priority for this Easter. Thank you for your video and making the beauty of the Triduum known to me. It was a most rewarding and beautiful experience.
Well this just made my day.
Awesome video
I was my brothers sponsor for confirmation the 3 days i spent was emotional but amazing i cried like a baby and on good friday singing for 2 hrs in choir was such a priveledge and emotional at the same time, thank u for documenting this
Praise be to God. Yes I was exhausted. Next year the Triduum.. missed due to work. 🤨
Beautiful singing Br Casey
Ha! Let's not get carried away now...
This ceremony should be in the memory , of all humanity , 365 day's a yr , thank U lord for this eternal thought & gift . Chocolat bunnies are not eternal , God is . How did I miss this act , for so many yrs , in the past , I am ashamed , but if I understand , doesn't the lord say rejoice in what I have given thee . God bless .
I love these three services. Yes I am exhausted at the end, but it is such an enrichment for my faith. I liked this video on the Roman Catholic rites. I myself are Old Catholic (Oud-Katholiek/Alt-Katholisch) a European line of Catholisism. Beautiful to see that, although there are some differences, it is very much the same.
WELL DONE YOUNG MAN, WELL DONE
THANK YOU!
I will agree with you about the wonders of the Easter Vigil. For many years I was the Thurifer for Easter Vigil, albeit in an Episcopal Church, but the service is almost the same. It is easily my favorite service of the Christian Year even though it is difficult to get busy people to come to a long service on the Saturday night before Easter. I would like to hear you sing the Exsultet though, since you performed the dismissal so well < grin >.
You'll be a saint, Br. Casey!
Im so moved that I cried during this video and I haven’t cried in what feels like years, since one of my childhood friends died. I just started coming back to the Church about 9 months ago. I go to a TLM and dont usually like most of your content but I was very moved by this. I am very much looking forward to spending time in the Church and at Mass every day of Holy Week this year.
I am literally crying over Jesus dying for us rn I have never felt like this before. I wonder if Im going crazy.
I attended all three days of the Triduum at Holy Family Caholic Parish. I have to say the Veneration of the Cross was the most spiritually impactful experience for me of all three days.
Welp I cant go to mass now
This video is excellent!! I will show this in RCIA next year, because I could not do a better or even as good a job as you have done. You had me weeping for joy.
Confirmation this Easter wish me luck
Thanks brother. I am stealing this for the Jr. High group
This Paschal Triduum is my first time completed all three consecutively and , yes, as you have said it is the most amazing, incredible and awesome triduum.
I especially love the paschal candle blessing and procession. The Baptism of Cathecumens, and renewal of Baptismal Faith of all of us . These touches me so deeply that i love it so much, i would love it to be celebrated in Extraordinary Form if in future that i have a chance to.
Pax Tecum Brother Casey. Alleluia!
well done
Here in Philippines Holy Week is celebrated not just liturgically but also has a traddition that has been passed. by ages.
Very beautiful! Thanks for sharing! I am not Catholic, but me and my family attend mass at the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City from time to time. The Cathedral is well over a hundred years old. The architecture is Gothic revival complete with gargoyles and everything else you'd expect a Cathedral from the middle ages to look like. The services themselves are very traditional as well. Although I believe they are in conformity with the Second Vatican Council (again, I'm not a Catholic), most of the mass is sung and much of the music sung by the choir (who are always dressed in robes) is in Latin. Most of the time they sing a capella. However, the magnificent pipe organ does sometimes accompany them. Most of the music dates back to the middle ages and the Renaissance. The choir is amazing made up mostly of school age children as this Cathedral has a full time choir school. For me, attending mass at this Cathedral is like entering a portal back in time to the early Renaissance. And I mean that in a good way. We last attended on Palm Sunday. Luckily we got there early because it was completely packed! The services shown on your video seem much more modern as was the church itself. The choir was still amazing. The point I want to make is that even though there is such a stark contrast. The spirit is the same. Your video portrayed that. It was just as beautiful as the old style because the Holy Spirit was present. I think you're going to be a wonderful deacon and someday a great priest. Again, thanks for sharing this video and all the other wonderful videos you've posted. Peace be with you!
Thank you very much for sharing! It's amazing how our faith can be expressed in so many ways and yet be the same, isn't it? A true wonder of the Holy Spirit! Happy Easter to you!
