What Happens After We Die? - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 12 апр 2024
- Friends, this week, on the Third Sunday of Easter, we have a passage from that magnificent twenty-fourth chapter of Luke-one of the appearances of the risen Christ to the Apostles. When we’re talking about the Resurrection, we’re talking about the central point of Christian faith, the hinge upon which the whole of Christianity turns. So to understand what we’re dealing with here is exceptionally important. What I want to do is reflect on the different views about what happens to us when we die that were floating around the eastern Mediterranean in the first century-and how none of them is on offer here.
Mass Readings:
Reading 1 - Acts 3:13-15, 17-19
Psalm - 4:2, 4, 7-8, 9
Reading 2 - 1 Jn 2:1-5a
Gospel - Lk 24:35-48

Bishop Barron is one of the greatest evangelizers and teachers of the Catholic faith!
It is the atheist in the wrong, for permitting such vile things as Christians.
The religious are shameless, we know them by their works: indoctrination of children with fantasyland vocabulary.
Bishop Robert Barron' countenance is arrogance manifest. The wolf in sheep's clothing, speaking to a wicked generation. The vestments of shamelessness are plainly seen. We know him by his works, speaking words of fiction, look at me, look at me.
How true! Let us pray that the next Papal Conclave recognize that fact…

maybe..but is it factual ? Is a great Muslim or Hindu or Mormon orator telling facts, or have they got it totally confused..Depends on your upbring and environment and a few other ifs & buts. ..amen
If Bishop Barron is speaking to your heart and you are not yet a confirmed Catholic, please go to your local parish church and join the RCIA program. At 55, I was Baptized and confirmed on Easter and it has meant the world to me. Just dive right in, join the Body of Christ, you will not regret it!
Praise God! Welcome home 🙏🏻✝️
Welcome home! ❤️🙏✝️👋🏻
God bless you! Welcome home!
Jesus loves you welcome home. We love you too 😅
After seeing 65 "thumbs-up" and none pointing downward I can see your comment is striking a cord, a harmonious one, that is. Our hearts are lonely for a place to rest and will not cease lonely until it finds its place in the heart of Jesus.
13:25 I recently lost my wife of 48 years to Alzheimer’s. Your homily gave me great consolation in my deep grief. I can now picture my severely impaired love reborn in our Lord’s presence with a new and perfect body basking in His mercy and love. No longer diminished or struggling. Thank you Bishop Baron.
I understand fully , my husband is now “ perfect “ , thank you God .
I am praying with you my brothers and sisters in Christ to overcome the deep grief and accept the peace of the risen Lord Jesus Christ every hour. So we can continue the journey home to meet Jesus and our love one in joy and love.
@@27lamar thank you, grief is utterly horrific. One is stripped of the senses and the annihilation of the day to day living

I was raised protestant, but GREATLY appreciate Bishop Barron's sermons, which I found online. Trying to heal from my much-beloved boyfriend, who dies on March 9th, and wasn;t raised in ANY faith- but he found 'some' with me. Please pray for him (James Patrick Kenny) and for me, Kristen Haynes, and for his family. Thank you, people of Christian faith!
Kristen, I will pray for you and your boyfriend this very day before I take my rest. I just left myself a posted note by my bedside lest I forget.
Will pray for you and your boyfriend right now in my morning prayer! God bless❤❤❤❤
Come home

Bishop Barron is not AT ALL what I thought Catholicism was about, and it's refreshing to listen to him, ( a big surprise to me) this is thoughtful and deeply theologically sound stuff
Welcome to the faith.
My thoughts exactly. Quite an eye-opener.
As a convert to the Faith, I can say most people who are anti-Catholic just don't understand what the Church actually teaches. ✝
he is a big reason why I entered RCIA this past fall and just recently fully entered the Catholic Church. prayer for you my brother/sister in Christ
Bishop Barron, I'm unsure if you read comments but I want to thank you deeply for what you do. I entered RCIA this past fall and you were no small part of my decision to go through with it. Your unwavering passion for the faith, your intolerance for dumbing down Catholicism's deep intellectual tradition, and so much more played an integral part in my conversion. I pray that others continue to find their way to the church and I believe your work will continue to help others hear the call of Christ. May God bless you sir.

I listen to the homily given by this wonderful man every Saturday in anticipation of mass the next day. He opens up Scripture and church teachings in such a beautiful way. Thank you, God for this wonderful shepherd you have given us through your Holy Church! ❤🙏🏼✝️🕊️
Bishop Barron is truly a gift from God.
Bishop Barron should be the next pope.
At least I can rest assured that Word on Fire donation dollars are not going to questionable research like IVF or promoting secret behind the scenes clerical marriages or supporting the commoditization of women and children. Or the creation of genetically altered human children.
Bishop Barron doesn’t support forced homosexuality on people or making people choose an ideology as a requirement of ordination or of entering religious life. I am glad he doesn’t support the abuse of science and technology to the point of ending human enrichment in working for a living.
Or that he doesn’t support anything heretical or against Catholicism like freemasonry or being controlled by his donors to compromise the Sacraments or contribute to the phenomenon of people not attending mass.

@orion848 I love bishop barron as much as anyone but.....I think we need a MORE conservative pope.
God works in strange & mysterious ways. The next pope could be someone no one expects. God can do anything, even transform someone lying at the very bottom of the barrel.

I found you about 10 yrs ago when our then Pastor Gregg gave a 10 week present on CATHOLICISM. The I started following you on WORLD ON FIRE. I so needed you in my life you are the most amazing man I ever knew. And Thank You God for giving us Bishop Barron.
The same with me. I was born again watching Catholicism and Word on Fire. Bishop Barron is a blessing representing who our Lord Jesus Christ is and he’s incredible! Thank you so much Lord for giving us Bishop Barron to teach us and enlighten us.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I can relate to your experience. I wait anxiously every week for the homily. I use. It to try to bring my children back and I share it with students and adults alike in my parish.
God, please bless and protect Bishop Barron.

If I had only one word for Bishop Barron, it would be “Brilliant!”
From Rio de Janeiro, Brazil… I do not have words to thank you… Bishop Barron… You are indeed the best Evangelizer I have met in my life… 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I am still amazed that my thinking can accept this thesis of his homily that we are going to be transfigured with a new spiritual body. I still can't believe that this will happen this way, BUT i want this to happen. I will continue to pray for patience and grace because this would be a wonderful way to spend eternity. ❤
Bishop Barron’s talk on the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist brought me into the Church at 60 years old. Catholicism is nothing like I thought it was as a devout evangelical.
Welcome to the family!
Christ isn't in the Catholic cookie. You can't crucify Him again and again. He made one sacrifce for all for all time.
@@johnbrowne2170 you clearly do not understand the Mass then. It’s our Lord’s original sacrifice re-presented at Holy Mass, not another completely new sacrifice. You can find a fuller explanation in the Catechism, if interested in learning what Catholicism actually teaches.

"Cultivate your capacity for surprise. Cultivate your capacity to imagine a spiritual body. That's at the heart of Christian hope. That's at the heart of our Easter season." *- Bishop Robert Barron*
A “good spell”, indeed!
Bishop Barron is indeed the Bishop Sheen of our day. The Lord blesses all through him.
Thank you God for Bishop’s videos running through my UT. I have been listening to Bishop Barren for the past month.
Very, very good. It's a real pleasure to hear the resurrection proclaimed as the crux of Christian hope. Thank you.

Bishop Barron walks with Jesus. God Bless You.
Yes we believe in the resurrection of the body in a glorified state on the last day. And we believe in the creation of a new Heaven and a new earth .What I want to know is what state are we in while we await this to happen?
Looking for the blessed hope and the glorious appearing of our great God and savior the Lord Jesus Christ
same question i had
Wonderful!
Amen. I could listen to Jesus speaking through Bishop Barron all day! 🙏💙

sure ..but Jesus words are fabricated by Greek writers many decades later. who were writing from repeated hearsay..no stenos employed during this time
Thank you for the explanation.
Jesus is our hope! Who else is like Jesus?
Thank you Bishop Barron

So true and we repeat it every Sunday when reciting the creed❤
My father passed away at age 75 on April 5th. I really needed to hear this, Bishop Barron. Thank you. ❤
Mine too passed away on the same day at the age of 71yrs. I think this homily is good to reflect on the gift of life.

Beautiful meditation, comparing the alternatives with the precious gift of bodily resurrection.
Bishop Barron, please talk about the particular judgment.
I like the new studio windows. ‘Climb Every Mountain’ is strangely coming to mind
Thank you Bishop for this explanation as it is often on my mind as I -at age 87 ( as of next Sunday) - come nearer to the end of my earthly life. While I cannot imagine what lies in store, I believe there is a beautiful life in the presence of God, and I pray for comfort and peace when that time comes. God bless you.
Perhaps the last book of CSLewis' Narnia books " the last battles it is called will help. I think what he imagined comes pretty close to the truth! ❤️📖

Thank you, Bishop, for addressing this profoundly challenging question. My teenaged son and his best friend were shot 29 months ago. Amazingly, from this tragedy I have grown to be a better man. Life can indeed be daunting.
I hurt for you. God help them and you.
My sincerest condolences 😢❤
Good message Bishop. One important component I would add, from my own journey is to keep an open mind and heart, free from any pre conceived notions or assumptions, be still and listen.
Bishop, thank you.
For what it's worth, all, what Bishop refers to regarding our own deaths - our own transfiguration - was shown to me in quiet, effective ways when our brother died. 31 years ago. Like it was yesterday. Details upon request.
My mother died on March 25, 2024 at age 96. I have no doubt whatsoever that I'll see her again.
Wonderful sermon Bishop Barron.
Thank-you so much for these words of wisdom and deeply insightful visions from The Bible and how Jesus was the end all and be all of all previous religious faith bringing beautiful, glorious truth. He continues to be a focus for the pagans continuin to assign their evil traditions to Jesus instead of demons they choose to host themselves; a measure displaying the devil's continuing prowl through the world for the ruin of souls.
Bishop Barron's sermon's are the best I have ever heard! He always makes me think and I wait every Sunday for another lesson, Thank you and God Bless!
No one knows for sure. We take everything on trust as a matter of faith.

As Bishop Barron says, we believe in the resurrection of the body... At the same time, I can't help but recall what was said on Ash Wednesday- "remember you are dust, and from dust you shall return" (as we receive the ashes)....
Indeed, this is part of the curse of Original Sin that we inherit as human beings (Genesis 3:19). We say these words on Ash Wednesday to become painfully aware of our sinfulness. Lent is the season where we clothe ourselves is sackcloth and ashes, like the people of Nineveh, in order to repent of our sins.
But the liturgical calendar does not stay in Lent. “The wages of sin are death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). We would have “returned to dust” in our sin, but Jesus’ death and resurrection have actually gained for us a life even after death. That is why Easter is the Solemnity of solemnities, because we celebrate the immensity of God’s love which gives an eternal life we could never have achieved on our own. All that remains is to accept our place in the heavenly banquet, even in the present moment.
Happy Easter season! Christ is risen, alleluia!
I am a frequent follower of bishop barron followed by Bishop Fulton Sheen...these two bishops just help me to mature in my faith....God bless the..
I love Bp.Baron. He is so mediocre. But I guess that that's why so many people love him. Also, his organization, Word on Fire, sponsors and supports many worthy initiatives. Initiatives that are beyond his own capacity. God bless him.
Love this topic and so well presented; however, at least for me, the explanation did not directly answer the title question of what happens to us when we die. Rather, it does wonderfully answer the question what happens when we are resurrected. I hope you will consider doing an important post-script on this homily addressing what happens to us between death and our resurrection. Thank you, Bishop Barron, for teaching on so many important matters of our faith.
You said "JESUS SHOWS HIS ''WOMBS' instead of ''Wounds' ...... And that's the nicest thing I can say about or to Baron. As a seventy plus NY Catholic Foundling ...... I don't buy into BS easily ......
Oh my gosh. Jesus asking for food blows my mind. How real can you get? Love it.

Endor is mentioned in I Samuel 28, 7.
Yes, this is helpful and Bishop Barron is one of the few bishops here talking this way specially online. But in all honesty when we die, our spirit does leave our body and the body is eventually buried or cremated in the Earth and does turn to dust. But he’s saying that’s not the end and eventually we will be reunited with our bodies. They will come back to life, as Jesus did, in a glorified eternal, perfect state. So he is our example, and definitely our hope.
Thank you Bishop Barron for your articulation of the hopes and dreams of our faith. I pray that the hope you speak of resonates with all those listening today and we can live our lives acting it out - and ultimately influencing others.
✨⭐🌟🙏
Love listening to your sermons Bishop. I wish more people could carry more capacity for the spiritual order today. The Transfiguration of Jesus always looks beautiful in my mind
The Orthodox Christian Faith teaches that the scriptures are clear on this issue. Those in Christ depart to Paradise to consciously and joyfully await the resurrection of the body. Those who reject Christ await sadly in hades.
Thank you Jesus for giving us light, even more for being our light; thank you for giving us hope, even more for being our hope✨⭐🙏
It’s an impressive feat in our culture to get 11,000 people to voluntarily stop and contemplate the fact of death. Most people live like it doesn’t apply to them and nothing has consequences.
May our Lord bless you.
Thank you Bishop Barron for this, may you always bring enlightenment to all of us on our faith and beliefs. Prayers for you 🙏🏼🙏
