    Looks really nice. I'm wondering about speed though as dehancer can't be controlled with panels. In the end of the day, dehancer is just giving us the same controls that resolve already has plus some Luts. Just as an example: Why adjust highlight temperature in dehancer when it could be done with a color wheel using a panel - with the advantage of being able to balance gamma and gain with both hands simultaneously? Does dehancer treat the colors nicer or something? What's the actual advantage?

    I think this is a good show of how dehancer set up is obtained. My only thought on the matter is that in almost all cases where there is a unique look to a film grade that the workflow would be to develop the look then apply the look first to the footage and set the exposure/balance sat etc. under the look. For consistency in a project not sure dehancer being in the middle of the node tree pack without explaining that the fixed node tree would have it set up first in that position - so you can ripple any other trim after it to all the nodes in a group or selection.
    Also Cullen's HSV technique - I would tell people to have all the steps of setting it up already in place on the fixed node tree, so you don't have to set it up for each clip. You can also instead of turning off channel 1 and then turning off channel 3 - you can just simply use the green level on the Gain wheel to control channel 2 only. It is exactly the same thing. I think Cullen probably finds it easier to use the control panel wheel, but it essentially does the same thing.
    The new film creator OFX is being compared to dehancer, but I wonder if you used the new OFX in conjunction to a film stock LUT that they might be more comparable in the final look? Don't know - but would be interesting if a colorist tried the combination and then put the looks side by side, and see how comparable they are.

    • @VladislavNovickij
      @VladislavNovickij  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for Your detailed comment and also for a tip about Cullen’s HSV saturation.
      I always firstly do some minor adjustments like exposure, balance and saturation to have a propper image ready for a look creation in Dehancer. While Your image is incorrect Dehancer will also create an incorrect look. Its always a colorist’s choise how it works and what works better for him but I personally do that way and it works for me 🤗
      I have Rsaolve’s film creator on my second computer and tested it already. I just have other projects in process so did not rist to update to Resolve 19 in my main computer yet.
      But I still think that its unfair comparing them yet. Them are different but with some same functions. Will see how the film creator grow in future but now I still stay with Dehancer, just my personal choise. And I think them both could be combined in one node tree to create an even more interesting look 🙌

    I saw that you're grading with Dehancer after 709 in the previous video. Isn't it better to grade in DWG? Also, do you color correct every footage and make them look similar across and then grade every footage? Or do you correct and grade one by one?

    • @VladislavNovickij
      @VladislavNovickij  4 месяца назад +2

      Thanks for the question. It all depends on what result I need. If I want just a bit of Dehancers look I use it after 709 and usually lower its output / opacity to get just a little aditional character for my footage. But if I need that filmic look, with film emulations and so on, I use it before 709 in my DWG node tree.
      What about the color corrections. If the shots are shot in one location as a sequence I usually color correct one main wider shot, grade it then copy and paste this grade to other sequence shots and make small adjustments to match them. Then make different color corrections for the shots done in different locations and scenes.

      Thank for Your question 🙌 Not sure if its possible using native Resolve’s tools without super complex node tree. New Look Creator is still far away from what Dehancer does. Film emulation is much different with different results. In my opinion, every additional plugin that helps to get better and faster results is an amazing tools, for example like Blackmagic color grading panel, which costs aditional money but makes You faster, better and more precise. Same with our cameras, we are always updating them with some new tools, cages, screens, follow focuses and so on that helps us to get better results 🙌

    • @VladislavNovickij

      Yes, I am not color managed. Use color space stransform in node tree because I like adding something after rec709 in certain clips. Gamma 2.4 because my monitor is set to the same gamma. Whyle I use mac I only choose Rec709A in my color management tag, so there are no Gamma shifts after the render. Yeah maybe should show that in my future videos 🙌

      Thanks for Your comment. In my opinion Dehancer and Resolve’s Film Creator are different tools and its hard to compare them. Yes them both have same tools like Grain, Halation, Bloom, which for me gives better results in Dehancer, they work more analog film like there.
      Resolve’s film creator is just for getting a little bit of creative look and its nice. But Dehancer is a film emulation tool, which recreates the exact film characteristics with so much controls available to push it even stronger. So I think this comparisson wouldn’t be fair by now.
