    Mad respect to your knowledge and expertise and the effort that was put into this project! Half way through I thought to myself how much easier would it be to just buy a new golf club instead of repairing this outdated product, but stopped just short of it and thought that kind of thinking is what has gotten us to where we are now today, a world of excess and waste! We should all recycle, repair, and reuse more often. Thanks for the video!

    God Bless McGolf. We made a shaft puller from a big ol' cross vice and regular vice we had laying around. Lovely for irons, and we even have the exact same butane torch... we were just... sheepish and didn't know what to do about applying direct flame to black paint etc... then we see here a great example even touchier about its paint than most. Your instruction just hit the spot, so to speak (like we were wondering how to do with the flame) once again, as usual here at McGolf shop. A moving picture says a million words. We were like, "Ok so most drivers and/or woods have this hosel with an unpainted metal band around it... is that the only place we can heat? That won't reach the bottom... oh and look at this Big Bertha we have, no hosel..." hee hee... thanks again, man. From a whole handful of low-funded guys that like tinkering as much as swinging, who are having some fun in a fledgling pastor's garage...

    Jim…there is or was a Callaway ferrule that was .335 shaft OD…and ..350 ID. No shim needed. Good idea adding the external wax.

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  2 года назад

      yes, there was, in the day they made both, typically the 335 was placed in the "better player" models where the 250 was in the rest. This is due to the lack of hosel and golfers actually hitting the shaft instead of the face.

    What is the epoxy that you would recommend to secure the shaft to the head of the driver?

    Hi. I realise that this is an old video but I have been starting with some “hobby” club fitting repairs and you have the best information. I do have a question though: I am taking a Mitsubishi OCi shaft out of my Callaway pro 19 and putting them into my Wilson Staff model blades. I pulled the shafts, so far so good. I am stuck getting the epoxy out of the shaft. I drilled down and cleaned about 1-2 inches but there is more epoxy further inside the shaft which I can’t get out. If I try to add the heads like this the air pushes the club head off. So do I just abandon the shaft and get some new ones (expensive), or do you have a trick? Keep up the good work!

    Great content. Question:. What product is the best for cleaning grips? I try about once a month, should I clean them more often. Thanks for all you do.

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  6 лет назад

      The best thing to clean grips is nothing more than very hot water and the good microfiber golf towel (club glove)

    So I have a hazrdus smoke i just installed on a ping g25 9.5⁰ I hit it today and my shaft spun nearly 180 degrees to where the logo was facing the opposite direction as well as my grips. It spun in the ferrule where the epoxy is. I continued play expecting some issues like the head flying off. Didn't happen driver seems consistent and solid even through this happened. What should I do or do I just get over it and continue to play with my logos and grips spun?

    While butane does, indeed, burn less hot than propane it’s not accurate to say it would make any difference at all. 1980*C vs 1970*C is less than half a percent different.
    Propane is absolutely fine.

    Hello, how would you go about checking the structural integrity of a graphite driver shaft?

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  6 лет назад +2

      drzlife visual first then mechanical, structural second. Meaning look for visual defects to clue you into a possible issue. Then stress the shaft to see if you hear cracking, or see defects. Layers coming apart or filament unwinding are good indicators

    • @drzlife9756
      @drzlife9756 6 лет назад

      Thank you for the quick response. Do you have any specific techniques to test a shaft really quick? Say if I was at a garage sale. If it has already passed a visual inspection. maybe holding the head of the driver while trying to twist the shaft or just flexing it in my hand?

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  6 лет назад

      drzlife that would certainly tell you if the head is on properly. While doing that listen for cracking if it doesn’t turn or crack you should be good

    Last week I noticed a rattling sound in my driver head. Someone said it could be a broken piece of epoxy. The strange thing is it would rattle 1 out of 3 drives. It got so annoying, I pulled the shaft out but i'm having difficulty removing the debris. I know it's in there but I don't hear anything. Please help. I'm losing 20 yards with my back-up driver. I don't want to spend $500 on a new driver.

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  4 года назад +1

      Americans need Americans to care. Getting it out is probably never going to happen you need to add more rat glue. That short of rattle stop. The reason you you here 1 of 3 times is the piece is getting stuck in the original rat glue. You can heat the bottom of the head. And re-stuck to part or add more glue. You don’t need to fill it all the way just about an inch of the tube.
