I cannot fathom the fact that these three play no part in the main route of Rev when this dlc exists (Also Desire Below is so good)
Re: the reason this trio was chosen (circa 6:20). An official poll was held and they were the three most popular children (besides Lucina) and the three most popular Gen 1 characters (besides Robin and Chrom) were Tharja, Cordelia, and Gaius. When adapted for this game they made the most popular kids part of Gen 1 (and aligned them with Nohr) and the most popular Awakening Gen 1 characters have Gen 2 doppelgangers in Hoshido

I see Inigo blushing when thinking that the Vallites can spy on people without them knowing him being embarrassed about the idea of them spying on him dancing without him knowing. That is normally when Inigo is seen blushing and while Inigo may be a flirt he is never shown to be a pervert.
I think the hair color thing was that if you just played awakening, without looking official art in the internet you didn't know that those child characters had an official hair color or what it was, so they accounted for it with dialogue like this. But yeah, the offivial hair colors from awakening matches Selena's, Laslow's, and Odin's hair colors in fates.
Also, it accounts for whatever pairings you chose for those children, as if you played awakening, they might have different color, hence not seeing them before anankos changes their appearance
Hidden Truths 1 and 2 are fun because they're really solidly designed maps and all the interactions from the Awakening kids are really nice.
Edit: And the music is an exclusive banger.
By the way the hair thingy is to explain why they don't have their dad's hair color in Fates. Their 'canon' hair color is anything except their mother's, so that's why his 'disguise' looks like their canon hair color since FEH has used the same technique to make them playable after the fact, but wasn't out yet at the time of the DLC.
My favourite thing about these characters being in fates is that if they marry someone, it is implied that they take their spouse back to Ylisse with them when they leave; stating that both of them dissapeared from history after the war.
I had a playthrough around a year ago where I paired Xander with Selena, Camilla with Laslow and Elise with Odin. I did this for various skills I wanted or for their children, but what was funny was how during the end credits all six of them apparently dissapeared from history.
So essentially these three interlopers came to Nohr, abducted three members of the royal family, one of which being the king himself, and then went back home. Very funny if you ask me.
Below I have the three endings I mentioned:
"As King of Nohr, Xander laid the foundation for a new era of peace and prosperity for the kingdom. After marrying, he and his wife, Selena, disappeared from records. They likely lived happily ever after."
"Laslow vanished after the war, but he inspired generations of dancers and rallied the spirits of many. His wife, Camilla, also disappeared from public view. She was happy to spend time alone with her family."
"There are no official records of Odin from after the war, but much was written about (and by) him. His wife, Elise, also disappeared from public record but no doubt grew into a remarkable woman."

I loved hidden truths, I didn't buy the gold or exp DLC.
Went straight for this stuff. Big treat for awakening fans.

You were pretty close with the favorite characters thing. The favorite Gen 1 characters from awakening were Chrom, Gaius, Cordelia, and Tharjah so they made Asugi, Caeldori, and Rhajat (just anagrams of the awakening names) birthright kids. The favorite Gen 2 characters were Lucina, Severa, Owain, and Inigo. That's also why the Gen 1 characters got special swimsuit CGs and the Gen 2 characters got yukata CGs in 2 of the awakening DLC maps.
I like the dlc, but the main game's story doesn't feel like it was written with the dlc taken into account. I think it might actually be improved if it did.
I wished Rev and maybe Conquest had the three have dialogue when battling Anankos in Rev and Garon in Conquest
I remember that a long time ago, I was a pathetic Phoenix mode baby back then, and I found out units don’t revive next turn when dead in certain DLCs like Royal Rumble. So when doing this DLC so I could get the Fell Brand for the main story, I did my best to keep them alive and lost Severa or Inigo near the end, and to my surprise, they came back next turn with the biggest smirk on my face

fates dlc is PEAK. heirs of fate is literally the best fire emblem game.

Legitimately, a part of the reason I got the dlc was just because of Desire Below.
I was hoping you’d play the Future Past DLCs from Awakening after doing the spotpass characters, but this is just as cool

The music on this map is amazing tbh.
Kinda sad that every piece of 3DS Fire Emblem DLC is lost media now, and even a entire route of the game(s) is impossible to download legit...
Especially since Nintendo clearly has no wish to release any of the FE games on modern consoles. People keep hoping for an FE4 remake, when i would be just fine with just having access to the games on the Switch AT ALL... They even teased us with the timed FE1 release, only to then go absolutely nowhere with it after that.
I would say this map's boss would have been the perfect time to proc Selena's personal skill, but I forgot we're still in Awakening....
does this mean that birthright soyo is on the horizon?
Wish chrom Lissa Fredrick and the awakening trio could be used in base game.
Chrom could have been so cool as an ally you unlock after beating the dlc same with Lissa who'd make a strong axe unit that heals. Fredrick your gunter you lost. Guess if this ever gets a remake chrom has a amiboo now.
Trio wise if not used just skins for them to switch into.
